Inspired by a clip I just saw on Instagram.

Deep breath.

Here goes.

Robin Williams wasn’t particularly funny.

ETA “Start” obviously.

Hot honey is an abomination that will hopefully die soon.

murasaki · 07/02/2026 01:15

If you tattoo your face, you should not be surprised that people don't want to employ you and move away from you in public spaces.

Morecoombe · 07/02/2026 01:16

Keir Starmer is a decent guy and shouldn’t be bullied into standing down - he didn’t know about Mandelson .

Kemi Badenoch or Nigel Farage would be far worse imo.

Oh dear. Another thread full of rude, offensive, classist, insults 'disguised as 'unpopular opinions....' How long before we get 'people who voted for Brexit are thick and uneducated.' And all the usual hate for anyone who may be thinking of voting Reform, or who believes in God, or anyone who has a child with a name that people think is 'common.' 🙄

I'll pass thanks....

Thank you for your unpopular opinion!. Please keep them coming !

Oh yes and if you read something/watch tv/film from 10, 20, 30 or more years ago where people don't have the same "enlightened" viewpoint as we do now, it's fine. You can cope. It's interesting to observe and think about historical differences.

Triggered warnings are counterproductive and are setting up people to think they might not be able to cope with something. They'll (nearly 100% of the time) be fine.

IVF shouldn’t be funded on the nhs unless you can afford to bring up, and care for the child.

IVF shouldn’t be NHS funded at all . No one has a right to a child.

Surrogacy should be illegal, it is commercialisation of women’s bodies.

ToWhitToWhoo · 07/02/2026 01:21

Online dating- unless more regulated than it usually is- can become the adult equivalent of a child taking sweets from strangers. I know a few people who've got into quite dangerous situations.

Parts of the media have been spending the last 15 years or so whipping up hostility to disabled people, and promoting the idea that mildly/moderately disabled people are scroungers and severely disabled people are a poor economic investment.

tobee · 07/02/2026 01:21

Oh yeah and a bit of internet meaness is fine.

It's ok and natural that we, as animals, make a snap judgement on people's appearance based on first impressions. We can't help it. The developed part of being humans should mean we can adjust it if necessary.

tobee · 07/02/2026 01:26

On the other my Sunday evening tv viewing was infinitely improved by watching Dickens adaptations 😀

I don't understand the lauding of David Attenborough. He does voice-overs to the brilliant work of camera crew and directors.

Paul Mescal is not attractive in the slighest, he looks like his parents are related

There is something about him - too studied as 'a nice, down to earth chap".

Am not a fan.

The whole concept of 'milestone/ big birthdays' focussed on an adult's age should be abolished. I do NOT mean that adults shouldn't celebrate their birthdays; just that they shouldn't be made all about age. And especially not in the workplace.

Thornton's chocolates are lovely, and make a great present (well, that seems to be unpopular on MN anyway!)

Thanks for that, am now drooling for Thorntons. Honestly cannot remember when I last had them!

Oh same, aside from his politics he’s got an odd sense about him, just can’t put my finger on it.

I've lived long enough to know that karma eventually finds those whose hubris makes them feel they have the moral authority to take a giant dump on the most vulnerable in society. And karma will not be kind.

SpringTimeIsRingTime · 07/02/2026 01:40

I can't stand Nicolas Cage - in any movie he's ever been in - I change channels as soon as he appears and would never waste money on him in a cinema

tobee · 07/02/2026 01:49

Also working from home is not a good thing for society and economy. It's a good thing to get out and interact with other people. It's not good to think you should live your life without interacting with all kinds of people; lovely people, annoying people, difficult people, challenging people and everything in between. Participating in society is good for mental health, not bad. It makes us mentally robust.

It’s a disaster for young workers starting out on their careers. No mentors they can pop in to see, no competent secretaries who can stand beside their desks and show them how to use the systems, no esprit de corp with their fellow trainees, no working through issues over a sandwich in the staff room.

Mitch Mitchell...he carried Jimi Hendrix.

Saltnchilli · Stacey Solomons tv show is about 25 years out of date those people need therapy to address compulsive behaviour.
gpl1s are not a miracle for weighloss. More support is needed to address underlying complex issues around food for many people insted.
Holidays are overrated, we should find joy in our day to day lives insted.
Alot of social occasions in the uk are based on alcohol and most people are very boring when drunk.
Netflix is the ruin of the film insustry.

RobertaFirmino · 07/02/2026 02:10

I think tattoos often look fucking awful.
I couldn't care less if people vape. Better a vape than a cig.
Alcohol devastates many, many more lives than cannabis does.
It is ok to dye your own hair at home with a box dye. Nice n Easy is foolproof.

JustAnotherWhinger · 07/02/2026 02:20

In too many businesses managers no longer manage individuals.

If Doris and Dave are taking the piss while WFH then remove the WFH privilege from them. Not everyone.

If Steve and Sarah take the poss with flexi time then deal with them. Don't remove it from everyone.

If Bill is a lazy fucker who does a third of the work everyone else does then have a meeting with Bill. Don't send emails to everyone "encouraging" more effort and using low level threats.

If you're paid to manage then manage.

Come to Vancouver - no fear of coming across it here!

ByElatedSquidInk · 07/02/2026 02:39

Ant and Dec are very annoying because they rarely, if ever, partake in the 'bush tucker trials' where they persistently make fun of the participants.

I loved the way the character, Bill Nighy, plays in "Love Actually", where he addresses the 'wipper-snapper' pair as 'Ant or Dec', a most hilarious put-down!

Young children and babies shouldn’t be spending most of their waking lives in a nursery environment with strangers.

When you spend 5 days a week, sometimes for up to three or so years, caring for the same children, many families consider you an integral part of raising them. The bonds formed between daycare staff and the children in their care can be incredibly strong. If you still consider the people in these roles to be strangers, you are af the wrong childcare facility.
