Inspired by a clip I just saw on Instagram.

Deep breath.

Here goes.

Robin Williams wasn’t particularly funny.

ETA “Start” obviously.

No! I love nuts. As a vegetarian they are a great food resource. People ate them gladly in the past. Perhaps food allergies need looking at in a different way. Thinking about children and peanut allergies has already changed in the last few years. And I will say it is not a human right to eat out. The cost to everyone else for labelling this that and everything is too much.

I could never live without nuts.

If you go into healthcare as a profession, you should be forced to accept that it isn't a Monday-to-Friday 9-to-5 job.

Young children and babies shouldn’t be spending most of their waking lives in a nursery environment with strangers.

This. Capitalism has convinced us that we’re unfulfilled unless we can make ourselves feel better with the things that you need two incomes to afford

peanutbcolada · 07/02/2026 00:08

Transwomen aren't the issue, the problem is men pretending to be transwomen for their personal gain.

AutumnAllTheWay · 07/02/2026 00:09

All female social events, aka girls' nights out, are the devil's work and in reality are bitch fests from hell

Tell me the difference as I wish to advance my education.

I would say that IVF should not be on the NHS at all.
But I have never wanted children, and maybe struggle to empathise with the pain that infertility can cause when you are so desperate for them.

I can afford a child but have IFV as an NHS option should I get tested and have the family amplified gene (which gives a 50% chance of early dementia) so they can remove it from my child, can’t get it without testing if I have it (and nothing can be done for me if I do. Rock and hard place. But as someone who has worked full time since they were 16 and is currently a higher rate tax payer it should 100% be on offer. Ironically a VERY unpopular opinion … I’ve spent too many years paying tax to support those who pretend they can’t work (which is not all but the vast majority) to get he haw back

I think Trump is brilliant.

Very unpopular opinion on Mumsnet.

Posting a picture of black people as monkeys is brilliant? 🤔

Agree - if we're banning things for being anaphylaxis triggers, why nuts? Why not ban fish, shellfish, dairy, and others too?

How very dare you, tell me my DH smells bad and that’s ok but my dog smells like peaches and cream 😂

Dating apps have killed the dating world. People don’t bother making the effort unless someone is 100% perfect because they know they can always go home and swipe right on the next person. But when everyone thinks like this it just means no one ever meets anyone.

We shouldn’t keep people alive who have zero quality of life.

Non resident parents who aren’t working or who aren’t making the equivalent of a full time wage on NMW need to be under intensive work searches if there is a CMS case open. That might help the benefits bill a bit.

A parent who sees their child less than half of the time should be paying more than half of their child’s expenses.

It’s perfectly normal and expected for higher earning families to fund their children at university. They’ll have less debt than poorer children and pay it off sooner, which is often conveniently forgotten.

It shouldn’t be expected that a single parent will marry again.

If it was cheaper to live in this country, the divorce rate would be higher.

UK holidays are great and so are kids parties at home. More expensive doesn’t always mean better.

The birth rate in this country would increase if women were looked after properly during pregnancy, birth and during the postnatal period.

Your point 5. I am extremely happy that young people in Scotland get 4 years funding for FE/university.

Mistyglade · 07/02/2026 00:15

Beautiful people are the only sub section of society it’s universally justifiable to be horrible about.

Supersimkin7 · 07/02/2026 00:17

NHS: either look after the very old and very functionless or stop artificially keeping them alive.

Hurling batches of corpse-with-a-heartbeat out at exhausted families daily isn’t health care.

Oh sorry I forgot MN doesn't do nuance and perspective. Silly me.

Mumsnet calls it as it is. Nothing courteous about the man-perhaps you felt that way as you missed the nuances of his absolutely fake persona

XenoBitch · 07/02/2026 00:21

People who watch videos on their phone on loudspeaker in cafes/on buses/trains etc, should be taken outside and pelted with melons.

AutumnAllTheWay · 07/02/2026 00:21

Splitting young children 50/ 50 is cruel, and does not have their best interests at heart

Im.sorry for saying this to families who for whatever reason have no choice but to arrange things this way, but doesnt take away from the fact it is true

We don't have to separate the art from the artist and musicians/actors/artists/public figures who abused their wives/were adulterous/had a 17-year-old girlfriend at age 30 are not geniuses and don't deserve to be revered.

I agree!

What a thread!
Very revealing.
Lack of empathy is the new pandemic.

Private landlords have traded on their sheer good luck in life (and it is OFTEN by sheer luck) to profiteer on others for a basic human need. And should be …(if I wrote what ireally felt I’d be banned from the site!) ashamed at their disgusting greed

If you’re going to wear a beanie, actually put it on your head, don’t just place it on the top of it.

I call that condom style (just on top that is)

Branston beans are better than Heinz
