Epstein files

Shhhhitsmagic · 06/02/2026 12:54

I've had too much time on my hands this week due to illness and I've gone down a rabbit hole with the epstein files.
Is anyone else struggling after reading this vile stuff?
I'm absolutely reeling and feel physically sick to my core. The world I thought we lived in doesn't exist (and probably never did in my lifetime).
It appears that not one single man involved will be held accountable. They are all being protected and the whole thing is being brushed under the carpet.
Why is this barely being reported on? Where are the protests? Are we being desensitised to this evil?
Can anyone help me make sense of this? 😢

This too has disturbed me in a very deep way. I don’t know what it is. Maybe that SO many people looked on and participated, people who had kids themselves, that everyone will get away with it, it’s so evil

HoskinsChoice · 06/02/2026 13:09

Barely being reported on? It is literally headline news on every news outlet and has been for weeks!

That said, there is something very odd going on. Why is Andrew the only one anyone is going after - the family, the media, the lawyers, the public - why is it only him? Guiffre was trafficked to hundreds of men. Why are we only talking about AMW? There are many, many considerably easier targets than AMW (he is surrounded by legal and financial protection that most aren't). And also many who have done considerably worse than AMW (some of the girls were children - only women above the age of consent in the UK have named AMW). Why are we wasting so much time on AMW and not prosecuting and publicly shaming the literally hundreds of other men involved.

Ohnonononotagain · 06/02/2026 13:10

It absolutely soul destroying.

What a crazy sick world we have created.
Where the rich, powerful and famous live in a world where money can buy anything and there is no moral code and anything goes.

Shhhhitsmagic · 06/02/2026 13:10

@Isthateveryonethen I can't begin to comprehend the level of evil and how many people are part of. It feels like we're being primed to be accepting of this.
I feel so guilty for having children and bringing them into this world.

So many up to their necks in this, utterly grotesque multi layered abuse, treated like objects in the most disgusting way. Why are these men being protected the way they are, oh that’ll be because they have money and that apparently affords them the right to do as they please.

Sorry I didn't explain that very well.
Yes the artist formerly known as prince Andrew has been in the headlines constantly, but what about all the others?
And why are the media not reporting on all the details? All the disgusting, sick emails sent between these monsters?

This has been an open secret for years but the people involved had so much power they managed to discredit it as ‘conspiracy theories’. More fool everyone else for buying into that narrative.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 06/02/2026 13:25

Yep. Look at how many men were complicit in the abuse against Gisèle Pelicot, and similar cases. Thousands. So many men are truly vile and disgusting. So many of them will do exactly as they please. Especially if they think they can get away with it. So many other men just turn a blind eye.

hollyivy123 · 06/02/2026 13:26

I suspect Epstein and his allies are only the tip of the iceberg as to what really goes on, he was just 'unlucky' he got caught. Women and girls are constantly being exploited, abused, trafficked, murdered etc. Every day you hear something awful happening to women at the hands of men. I know it comes across as a negative viewpoint but I just think/feel that we as a collective of women are losing a battle. Yes NAMALT but it's far too many and it's no wonder a lot of faith has been lost when this is all the stuff you hear about on a day to day basis. It's an awful situation and the Epstein goings on have been sickening to hear about. It does make you wonder how men view us

LBFseBrom · 06/02/2026 13:27

Only one person in prison and that's a woman doing a 20 year sentence, carrying the can.

I haven't been following closely, we already knew he was on 'friendly' terms with a myriad of people in high places.

I dislike the way the press are highlighting some individuals and hyperbolising.

It's all quite unhealthy, try not to be obsessed, it will do you no good at all.

OtterlyAstounding · 06/02/2026 13:30

"The world I thought we lived in doesn't exist (and probably never did in my lifetime)."

It never did in anyone's lifetime, sadly. Men, particularly powerful men (and occasionally women) have been raping, abusing, torturing, or killing people for their own pleasure since the beginning of time. And quite frequently they've got away with it scot free.

livingthenotebook · 06/02/2026 13:32

Where can you read them?

Toomanysofttoys · 06/02/2026 13:33

We seriously need some female fbi agents to investigate this so more gets done. I really don't want this swept away like ICE.

FreeTheOakTree · 06/02/2026 13:36

I feel the same OP, except I cannot bring myself to read more than I have - which isn't much, but it was enough. I feel desperately, and profoundly sad.

I believe each and every single account that victims have shared.

I am baffled by the 36% that have voted YABU

Toomanysofttoys · 06/02/2026 13:39

When will we get to see Trump get his ass arrested. I'm buying a cake that day for sure. May even have a street party.

Without meaning to sound glib, I have a bottle of expensive champagne chilling for the same reason. It was a gift at Christmas. I am keeping it for the day that despicable man falls.

Toomanysofttoys · 06/02/2026 13:50

Mumsnet party! news on all day and we dance on the hour every hour.

Problem is that among the elite running the world there doesn’t appear to be any good guys.

It’s very hard to word the next part given that it has real world consequences for women and children. But I don’t think the demand for this stuff ended with Epstein. Who is the new Epstein?

MidWayThruJanuary · 06/02/2026 14:06

@HoskinsChoice
It's not only AMW. Peter Mandelson has been extensively reported on.
The Norwegians are eviscerating Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

Teafortime · 06/02/2026 14:07

What I find it hard to get my head around is that (unless I'm being very thick) everything that's been made public recently has been in the hands of law enforcement agencies for a long time. Yet it seems absolutely no one who has the power to do anything about it seems to think any action needs to be taken against anyone other than JE and GM. That must be a lot of people with high up positions in law enforcement who have looked at all this and either thought 'those men were just having a laugh, they probably didn't know what was happening' or ' those men are to rich and powerful to question'. With the exception of AMW, even now where there are news items about specific named men the focus seems to be on whether they were wrong to have continued a friendship with a known sex offender rather than whether they are sex offenders themselves. I can't think of any other situation where one man would be found guilty of abusing women and children but law enforcement would conclude that all his mates, who were photographed with him and the abused people around the time of the abuse, don't need to be thoroughly investigated as well.
Like pp, it feels very frightening to realise how many men will gladly take part in (or at least turn a blind eye to) horrific abuse of women and children if they feel sufficiently sure they will get away with it.

ChequerToRed · 06/02/2026 14:08

It’s being reported on massively and could ever bring down our current PM, though Mandelson appears to be one of the few where there’s no whiff of sex scandal, for obvious reasons.
One of the problems with the Epstein files, as they currently stand in the public domaine, is that what we have is heavily redacted. You have to wonder how much of that is really ‘protecting the victims’ and how much is ‘protecting the guilty’. Another problem is the way Epstein operated, he collected people by using his wealth to shower largesse upon them so he could use them, be it for influence, access or valuable information.
The way I see it is that Epstein was a serial user and predator, and how he used people varied enormously. He preyed on vulnerable girls and young women, he also preyed on wealthy/influential but stupid/naïve/greedy people who should have known better. He knew how to appeal to some people’s basest instincts and turn that to his own ends. He was an abuser, a blackmailer, and a swindler. I wouldn’t even be surprised if he’d had people killed.
Tbh, the sex abuse isn’t even the exceptional part, that’s horribly run of the mill (from the grooming gangs to P Diddy, it’s a hideous daily occurrence), it’s the way he leveraged power through charm, generosity, and cold, hard cash.

He’s also a stark warning to those who cultivate very rich friends in hope of a few crumbs from their table.

MidWayThruJanuary · 06/02/2026 14:10

This is the headline above a paywall article in the Independent.
The Epstein files reveal a horrifying truth about British politics: a paedophile was, in effect, a secret member of the cabinet

CanalLetty · 06/02/2026 14:37

"Only one person in prison and that's a woman doing a 20 year sentence, carrying the can."

This is an astonishing fact that says it all.

CanalLetty · 06/02/2026 14:42

What keeps going around in my head from the Epstein files is the disgusting, derogatory and hateful way the men talked amongst themselves about women and girls. When Germaine Greer said “Women have very little idea of how much men hate them" I didn't want to believe her but it's true.

We now know that those who have power hate women, abuse women and get away with it.

We should be really angry.

Ihateboris · 06/02/2026 14:44

It's absolutely sickening that just because the filthy bastards are rich and powerful EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM will get away with it. What a fucking horrible world we live in.
