...to think Angela Rayner needs to wind her neck in?

Why is a FORMER deputy, who was binned in disgrace for being VERY NAUGHTY potentially in line to oust Keir Starmer as big boss?

I'd have sacked her completely, not just as deputy leader, for her prior misconduct. Surely the Labour party can't support ousting their leader and replacing him with a proven wrong'un? Is there nobody else decent? Has she no shame?

Fucking snakes, the lot of them. I thought we'd seen the back of that sort of barefaced bullshit with the downfall of boris.

I really like Angela Rayner and hope she features prominently in our politics for a long time to come. The tax thing is a big bag of meh as far as I'm concerned; I don't expect politicians to be infallible living saints or take vows of poverty, I just want them to try to do the right thing for ordinary people and on the whole I think AR does.

CurlewKate · 06/02/2026 23:51

Yep. How dare a working class woman aexpreas herself in public?

CurlewKate · 06/02/2026 23:53

And having no balls is a massive point in her favour.

wanderingstarz · 06/02/2026 23:58

I'd quite like a WC woman in power. Instead of all the privately educated privileged men who know fuck all about real life. Not going to happen though because Northern and not posh enough.

OhDear111 · 07/02/2026 00:05

@TheActualQueen I’m afraid that’s just ludicrous. The tax burden is high. It’s not possible to keep taxing to make communism a reality or take property and companies away from their owners. This costs a vast amount and we pay! It will make us poorer. AR has no idea about growing the economy and we cannot afford her politics. The better off are paying most of the taxes now. FYI - you and the country need them. They are vital - benefits recipients fund nothing.

I’m also a northern woman with working class origins and in the great scheme of things( sad that needs saying) what she did was hardly a hanging offence. I wish and hadn’t, of course I do, but the reaction to her is always OTT imo

She was the minister in charge of housing - she was responsible for the policy for housing policy for us plebs who have to pay stamp duty and taxes when we buy and sell the homes she was supposed to create,

PinkTonic · 07/02/2026 00:45

She’s a tax cheat and a grifter and it’s entirely possible to be working class without being uneducated and uncouth. She’s insufferable and should have been sacked completely.

I mean capitalism isn’t proving very fucking effective for anyone other than the rich elite right now is it?!

Err I grew up in one of the worst parts of Bristol. Violence and crime was common. I went to a school where out of 242 one went to uni at 18. I got a job in insurance, then worked for myself as a gardener but I saved and took advice and retired at 55...it worked for me and at least 20 of the 242 have retired before 60.

Arraminta · 06/02/2026 22:09

Oh dear God, please no!

The woman is inarticulate, doesn't have a single academic qualification to her name and was promoted purely to assuage the hard Left unionists.

(If you're reading by putting your finger under each word no doubt Angela, then assuage means 'to appease').

What an unpleasant post.

One time, he tried to fire he

she refused to be fired and he back tracked

Source for those figures, please?

It looks like an overview from Google. Does that figure surprise you?

Yes, originating from finance monthly.

Sadly she's dropped from her £160k a year salary to £93k though so she's at least more inline with the rest of us in the proletariat.

I have a short term memory of her getting caught tax dodging to the tune of £40k. You and I would be banged up for that.

Irrespective of party, I'd sack and shame and ban from office anyone doing similar. I'm even more appalled that some seem to think Boris is somebody to look up to.

Being a left wing female teenage mum is not remotely relevant to me. I know and have known plenty. Probably was as a campaigning tactic though, for her and the party...and look where it's got her! 800k flat as a second home in a coastal town anybody? Verrrr socialist daaahling, champers anybody? 😁

Edited

You wouldn’t get banged up either. You be notified and given the option to pay it back. It happens, people fuck if their taxes all the time. They get a letter and pay it. They don’t go to bloody prison.

everyone needs to stop being extra.

It does a little, yes. But she does own two properties, doesn’t she? And she gets a reasonable salary and I don’t think just because you’re on the left you should live on bread and water. So long as it’s honestly and ethically come by, fill your boots, IMHO

Freysimo · 07/02/2026 08:17

I'm a working class Northerner and I would die of embarrassment to see her on the world stage. Local union agitator, fine, PM, absolutely not.

£4.7m isn’t bread and water, people don’t mind wealth if it’s their side I guess.

I think she should go for it incidentally. It looks like Starmer is on the ropes, Labour MPs being very blunt he should go today.

Oh change the record. Any thread with a letter of the alphabet in the title these days and it's "pity the poor tax payers and orf with the heads of benefits claimants!"

Blinkingbother · 07/02/2026 08:56

Rayner should absolutely not be allowed to come back. It’s bloody ridiculous - found to have done wrong and then potentially let back to be a potential prime minister a few months later?! As far as I’m concerned she should lose her position as mp and never be in parliament again. How many times did they let Mandelson back and now look what’s come out!

pinotnow · 07/02/2026 09:02

I quite like Angela Raynor and she definitely gets treated badly in the press as a result of sexism and snobbery. However, I do think she should wind her neck in at this point, as should all the MPs on the left of the party who see this as an opportunity to get rid of Starmer, which is what they have wanted all along. It's naked opportunism on her part - not a good look at all and not good for the country. However admirable her achievements are (and I agree that they are) anyone who thinks she can take over as PM now and the press and country will get behind her and Labour will turn a corner and see off Reform is absolutely delusional. At this point, she and everyone else in her wing of the party needs to sit down, shut up and show some professionalism and unity until the documents have been released and investigated and we know exactly what we are dealing with.

I didn’t say it was bread and water-I said I didn’t think people on the Left should live on bread and water. I don’t mind people on any side having wealth so long as it’s honestly and ethically gained and if they’re in public life they are open about it.

Who? McDonnell, Maskell, Lewis - the ones who've been saying similar since they got in? Or the unnamed 'sources' all the Tory journos are breathlessly quoting? Plenty of MPs have also voiced their support, or at least stated this is absolutely not the time for a leadership contest and we need the full facts before it can be decided whether this is the end for KS. Of course, those who don't support Labour will be hoping she goes for it as it will be a disaster, not necessarily because of who she is but because of how it will further divide the Labour Party and get in the way of them cleaning up the absolute shit show left by the Tories.
