Keir starmer is dead in the water

Bertiebiscuit · 04/02/2026 22:21

The UK cannot have a prime minister who gave a plum job to a man when all the time he knew that Mandelson was still close friends with an ex-con who was convicted for trafficking children for sexual abuse. Starmer is destroying the reputation of the UK, he is an embarrassment and shoukd resign, if not the Labour party should demand his resignation.

PPE.

To tory friends and donors.
Every single one of them were tory's friends and donors on the fast track lane.
I do believe this was under Boris's time, no? Nothing checked out, just fast track contracts awarded. This is not garbage, this is fact. Sorry old bean. Some of them were awarded contracts for more than their worth, for companies set up that didn't even do PPE before and we, the tax payer, were paying more for PPE than many other countries.

Freebies? As someone else mentioned, Boris's grabby decorating freebie outrage?! His holiday in Mustique? Jesus, people have short memories here in their speed to only bash Labour.

Labour garbage.

The National Audit Office found no evidence of corruption in government awards of PPE contracts. The GLP lost every single case it brought about PPE contracts.

@HappyjoeGod no, not reform! But this government still needs to go.

I don't think the gov should go. They are still doing better than the last lot, just not very quickly. I will reserve my thinking until next vote and see how they've done by then!
But we do need a leader who doesn't drop the ball like today.

gogogogogoog · 05/02/2026 00:11

what about Farage, wasn't he in there multiple times?

and repeatedly buddying up with Trump, who was in the Epstein Files apparently 38,000 times according to this article:
https://newrepublic.com/post/206023/how-often-donald-trump-mentioned-epstein-files
Not to mention Steve Bannon and all the other dodgy people that feature in there that Farage cosies up to on a regular basis. Gross POS.

Deflecting? Boris is history. It was dealt with and he resigned. The current situation with Starmer is here and now. This hasn’t been his only error of judgement. My only concern if he goes is which other clown in his party is going to be voted in to be PM by the other clowns in the party. There’s literally no-one capable of stepping in, but that won’t stop the far lefties pushing one of their own forward. Which would be a complete and utter disaster.

If you notice, I was responding to someone talking about Boris.

Deflecting? No, responding, if that's ok by you. 😂

Yeah yes "dropping the ball" by giving one of the most important diplomatic jobs to someone who used insider trading to fund paedophiles. Just like when the Chinese Government "dropped the ball" at Tiananmen Square.

I’m no fan of Starmer. Or Labour. But I can’t imagine who in the party is anywhere near competent enough to be PM if he goes. Watched him in parliament today and Kemi wiped the floor with him, and sickening watching Rayner put the knife in. She’s absolutely vile, and it’s so obvious that she’s getting her ducks in a row to take over. The whole thing is such a mess.

Rayner showed her true colours today - she has zero integrity and is nowhere near fit for the job. I imagine it would be a bun fight between her and Stereting. Maybe Burnham. I actually don't know who would be any better - certainly not Lammy. Milliband at a push?

For fuck's sake. We are an actual joke.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 05/02/2026 00:16

Sorry, meant to quote @Meadowfinch

Some very good points here, but if you think the likes of Farage or Kemi are better than Raynor you're in for a nasty shock.

A race to the bottom helps no one.
But let's acknowledge that Raynor - a representative of the working class (apparently) - deliberately and dishonesty avoided paying taxes that would benefit the people she represents (apparently).
She's an absolute disgrace.
Farage and Kemi being a disgrace is irrelevant.
Raynor's priority appears to have been a financial grift, to shore up as much money as possible while she's in office, because, let's be honest, she knows she's never, ever getting elected again. To anything.

Maybe Labour could call International Rescue and get David Miliband to come parachute in from Thunderbird One.

Yes, it’s invention. There’s no evidence for it at all.

Despise Johnson and Sunak all you like. But come up with some good evidence if you’re going to accuse them of corruption.

I don't need to come up with anything.. it's out there

… while she was one of the impoverished working classes. The spectacle of the landed classes desperately digging up all the dirt on a care assistant is one of those things not to be proud of in Britain. And of course it’s normalised.

Not remotely comparable.

Appointing Mandelson was a very poor judgement, and depending what the evidence shows, Starmer might lose his job for it. But let's not pretend that what Starmer did was comparable to the deliberate massacre of hundreds of innocent people.

Hardly just "dropping the ball" though.

Or Putin.

Let's not forget that, for all of the concerns about Starmer's poor judgement, one of Farage's own former appointees to a leadership role is currently enjoying a stay in prison for working as a Russian agent.

It was a stupid and crass comparison which actually undermined the point that you were trying to make.

AInightingale · 05/02/2026 00:26

I wonder why Mandelson was brought back at all, and given such a cushy post. It's just odd, given his track record.
Makes me wonder if he has some potentially damaging dirt on Starmer - his private life - the Lord Ali business.
Was listening to Jacob Rees Mogg earlier and he was actually praising Ed Milliband, saying that he was a principled individual who refused to touch Mandelson during his tenure as leader.
