‘Official estimates suggest the cost of scrapping the cap will total £13.6 billion over the next five years.

The Tories said families currently affected by the cap are in line to receive windfalls worth an average £25,000 each over that period.

But the biggest families will gain far more. Thousands of families with five children will receive around £10,900 a year while those with six children will get an extra £16,600 a year.
Almost half of the families involved have no one in work.‘

Labour benefits plan 'will hand £25,000' to biggest jobless families

Ministers will bring forward legislation on Tuesday to lift the limit on benefit payments which was imposed in 2017.

These threads always boil down to:

"These aren't emotional decisions, they're financial"

"But people will literally die"

"Stop emotionally blackmailing is, this is financial"

"Right but these people will die"

"DON'T BE EMOTIONAL IT'S FINANCIAL".

You don't pay for any of these things.

The people funding you have every right to question the level of money that you receive.

You seem unable to process this very basic fact.

Who will die of ADHD?

We aren't just talking about ADHD though, are we? We're talking about all disability benefits needing to be cut.

PIP is awarded based on care needs. Money does not come into it at all.

No but ‘oh my expensive afrid child’s food’ is used as justification for claiming, and it’s a bollox argument. If you don’t have any extra costs then you have absolutely no justification claiming cash from the government. PIP isn’t compensation for the unluckiness of having an illness.

Not all but a lot of it.

Please read up on it. It is an utterly devastiting illness.

I’ve had it 🙄. Thanks for the advice though.

OK, I hope you are actually joking by asking that.
Google is free to use. It would be better for you to quietly educate yourself before you offend people with lived experience of severe eating disorders.

I'm not saying a severe eating disorder isn't absolutely shit. I believe it has the highest mortality of any mental health disorder. But what are the costs? If the cost is therapy better for it to be directly funded. For those in recovery it may no longer be needed. Residential placements are important but for that the state needs £££ available.

The disability benefit will be cut because people with adhd and don’t need the cash are claiming, pushing up the cost and making it unaffordable.

Say you know nothing about ARFID without saying you know nothing about AFRID.

And, again, PIP is not awarded based on costs!

Some random taxpayer who pays 0.1% towards the benefits I get each year doesn't get to question what money I receive.

Anorexia is anorexia, can’t really see how costs would vary very much.

have you been reading the replies, you even outlined some reasons yourself! Costs will of course vary. All people suffering from anorexia, are individuals, their needs will vary.

Exactly, can’t have it both ways.

So what happens to the people who lose their benefits?

Wait, don't tell me - "it's not emotional, it's financial blah blah blah"

That’s the issue though. PIP SHOULD be awarded on costs. Otherwise it’s just a freebie from the government and we cannot afford that.

Well we are talking about the ones that need to be cut that are slightly on the not as serious side such as ADHD..Obviously the terminal conditions and real disabilities arent what we are discussing, don't worry.

On the subject of eating disorders surely bulimia is the more expensive?

Where is the bottomless pit of money for welfare coming from?

Its always financial because there is always a bill to be paid.

Yes, I do.

As does every other person who is a net tax contributor.

The country cannot afford the sheer level of entitlement that I have seen written in this thread.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR COSTS TO CLAIM PIP!

BUT WHY WOULD YOU PUT A CLAIM IN FOR CASH FOR AN ILLNESS THAT LEAVES YOU NO WORSE OFF FINANCIALLY???

The people that do this are making the benefits bill totally unaffordable, forcing future cuts which will mean those with genuinely expensive disabilities will suffer. Morally pretty scuzzy behaviour.

It is not "entitlement" to be disabled and rely on the state for support.
And plenty of people work in jobs where they don't earn enough to be a net tax contributor. Are they to be shunned too?

I give up. I do not have the time or crayons to explain it to you.
