I try knickers on in shops.

My other thread got derailed by this issue.

I, and the friends I saw last night, all try knickers on in shops. We do this over our pants.

We sometimes buy the knickers. We sometimes don't.

We agreed we don't have money to burn on buying knickers that don't fit or don't look lovely or cut your bum up. We try them on as most shops don't allow you to return them for a refund. (Although you can return online)

To clarify from my other thread, the JL shop assistant told me to try on the matching knickers to a bra I was purchasing, as she didn't want me to waste my money.

AWBU in trying knickers on in shops and sometimes returning them to the rail?

(And yes, this is one of those threads where my behaviour will not change as a result of your opinions)

Not really no.

life is too short to wear ugly pants every day
certainly implies you need nice knickers to make your day go well.

Not that it's of any importance here but I don't wear " ugly pants". I wear black sloggi knickers and have done for years . They may be boring but they are functional and not " ugly". So your jibe about " grey boiler suits" is a bit wide of the mark. Again, imo .

Then it’s all subjective isnt it because I would absolutely class sloggi pants as the very definition of ‘ugly’ pants. I have some, I wear them when I’m on my period.

It doesn’t imply that at all. I do like wearing nice things. That includes pants. But my entire health and hsppiness doesn’t rest on that. Although an uncomfortable pair of pants can seriously impact my enjoyment of a day.

Whereas your comment about pants being purely utilitarian implies that items of clothing merely have to serve a purpose regardless of looks and comfort.

Fair enough.
I understand it's subjective.
I mean some women actually think wearing thongs is attractive, and not unhygienic would you believe? Which amazes me. But each to their own.

Well why me saying I think knickers are functional should make you automatically think I dont like any nice clothes is quite a leap imo.

I agree with you that uncomfortable knickers can impact enjoyment of a day.

In your OP.

Thank you.

I can see why you read it that way.

However you've added "in them", not me.

Something looking lovely is different to a person looking lovely in them. The implication is different.

Sorry but you said one of the reasons you tried the knickers on in the shop was because you wanted to ensure you looked lovely in them. That implies that you gave a very high opinion of yourself at the very least.

Either way, it definitely doesn't imply I've got a very high opinion of myself. That's your sad take on it.

If a clothing item looks lovely when worn, great. Be proud.

If a clothing item makes a person feel like they look lovely overall, great. Be proud.

We should acknowledge if we're happy with the way an item of clothing looks on us. That's not having a high opinion of yourself. It's acknowledging that a piece of clothing is enhancing how you feel about yourself.

We've all got our wobbly bits and body parts we try to hide. We should all have bits of our bodies we are happier with. If you don't, then that's a very depressing world to live in.

My top 3 best body parts

Eyes
Waistline reappearing
Legs are well proportioned

My worst 3 body parts

Bingo wings
Apron belly
Saggy skin on thighs

Most women, myself included, find the worst list easier to write than the best list.

My goodness I don't think i've ever had a discussion this long about knickers in my life.
I give in. I'll bow out gracefully and leave you to it!
