I can’t lie, Home Bargains. I just love it.

M and S for sure.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 01/02/2026 20:08

A large Tesco’s with the clothing and homeware sections. M&S might be a bit nicer but I don’t think they do as much electrical stuff.

SubstantialFun · 01/02/2026 20:23

Tesco....ive always said i should never go too far from one! I like many other shops but i know, if it came to it, I can get everytjing i need in Tesco. I also get discount there so that helps!

TheDenimPoet · 01/02/2026 20:25

We have very little money to spare at the moment, so an Aldi within walking distance would suit me perfectly! Currently nip into Morrisons for any little bits we need during the week.. we could save a lot if Aldi was handier!

Zerosleep · 01/02/2026 20:27

M&S food hall

icouldholditwithacobweb · 01/02/2026 20:37

For those who have said Lidl what do you recommend from there?
A local one has just opened and I've been in but couldn't find anything that I fancied, we've already got an Aldi.
I'd been told the bakery was amazing so I had a croissant and it was nice but no better than Morrisons.

It's not the FOOD that's amazing in Lidl /Aldi, it's the PRICE you silly billy! That's why we all shop there.

Efrogwraig · 01/02/2026 20:52

Waterstones

MsPug · 01/02/2026 20:57

John Lewis but only the one in Bluewater it has a food hall and a Waterstones 😂

FizzPlease · 01/02/2026 20:57

M&S foodhall

Growlybear83 · 01/02/2026 21:00

John Lewis, providing it’s a big one with a Waitrose.

Lilacspring · 01/02/2026 21:06

B&M😍

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 01/02/2026 21:16

ALDI

Lightrider · 01/02/2026 21:21

I live just off our high street and the 2 shops I use most are the shop with an Amazon locker and the Inpost locker shop. Would probably pick the Amazon locker shop as most useful.
Never use the grocery shops as I get it all delivered.

I live less than 5 mins walk away from an M&S foodhall. It’s closing for 3 months at the end of February for a refurb. I don’t know what I’m going to do! I’ll have to plan ahead and use the car

I hope you like your refurb a lot more than I like ours. Closed a year to move across the road and supposedly bigger and better. I hate all the chiller cabinets behind doors, I appreciate it’s probably more eco but people!! jeez. Also the car park is not fit for purpose and never could be and the ‘bakery’ that everyone can sneeze all over and handle the goods is 🤢

restingbitchface30 · 01/02/2026 21:32

Lidl or m&s. Some days I’m frugal some days I’m boujee! I’ve got a coop and I love how ethical they are but their food is just awful.

Blingismything · 01/02/2026 21:37

M&S 100%

ViolaChomp · 01/02/2026 21:42

Aldi.

Chumbawomble · 01/02/2026 21:47

Years ago we bought a pretty awful house because it was all we could afford. The car park opposite attracted all sorts of criminality e.g. doughnutting and our car was vandalised several times, then stolen and written off. A year later a huge Waitrose was built in the car park. It felt like we and all the other residents somehow deserved it.

JoeyJava · 01/02/2026 21:57

Costco.
Never been before, but they just have everything. And they're always a full-on excursion away from civilisation.

tallbirduk · 01/02/2026 22:02

Giving myself away here, but my house shares a fence with Lidl, Aldi is across the road (~90 seconds walk depending on traffic) and I can be in what was once the largest M&S (attached to a Tesco Extra) within a 10 minute walk - but I rarely go anywhere other than Aldi/Lidl to be honest. We also have a post office, chemist, optician, bookies, hairdresser, pubs and a train station.

Sweetiedarling7 · 01/02/2026 22:08

My nearest supermarket is Waitrose which I am very pleased about.
An Aldi would be a nice addition but it is a very small town so that won’t happen.

Whyhaveibeencutoutofmamsnot · 01/02/2026 22:13

Harrods (would mean I had the money to live in Knightsbridge)

Tuesdayschild50 · 01/02/2026 22:17

We have home bargains a 10 minute walk away m&s bit further ...
I don't love them being this close though I'm surrounded by shops you spend too much.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 01/02/2026 22:21

I love next to a giant shopping centre but about 80 zillion miles from an IKEA since our city centre closed ours and I don't drive 😭.
