I can’t lie, Home Bargains. I just love it.

knor · 01/02/2026 18:00

m and s 100%! I use to live 10 min walk from one when I rented and it was such a delight going there :D is also nice if you’re having people round/want a treat as you always know you can get really good food

BlueandWhitePorcelain · 01/02/2026 18:03

Waitrose or a Tesco Extra with a pharmacy!

VikingBird · 01/02/2026 18:12

AnneShirleysNewDress · 01/02/2026 18:13

Emeraldforest · 01/02/2026 18:20

Selfridges! But I am lucky enough to be 5 minutes walk from. Sainsburys, Aldi,Iceland ,a small Morrisons etc etc, but something more fancy would be lovely.

Sahara123 · 01/02/2026 18:21

Gloucester Services - same company as Tebay.

Sahara123 · 01/02/2026 18:23

Although I wouldn’t want to live on a motorway so it would need to be moved to rural Scotland!

JohnTheRevelator · 01/02/2026 18:24

Aldi!

Shoxfordian · 01/02/2026 18:25

Waterstones although it'd decimate my bank account

Londonrach1 · 01/02/2026 18:27

Lidl

LookingThroughGlass · 01/02/2026 18:39

Anything I had no interest in whatsoever so I didn't spend too much money there 😄Somewhere like Halfords, or one of those official football club merch shops, let's say a Leeds United shop because there's one I often walk past.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 01/02/2026 18:46

Library (not technically a shop I know). Lucky to have it at all but wish I lived in walking distance of it.

hattie43 · 01/02/2026 18:51

Waitrose

Georgiepud · 01/02/2026 18:58

A farm shop.

Modompodom · 01/02/2026 19:03

B&M or Home Bargains!

JustMeAndTheFish · 01/02/2026 19:31

Ooh definitely Liberty. Or failing that John Lewis.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 01/02/2026 19:48

Bury Market, for the fish counter and the fruit stall. However, I couldn't live around there, as it is too busy for me! Thus, I'll have to make do with living around two hours away in the "a*-end of nowhere" (according to my sibling) and taking a trip out there when I visit family a few miles away.

Booths. Although I'd be bankrupt within a year.

I live a two minute walk from Booths.

Heyhelga · 01/02/2026 19:49

M&S Food

Marylou2 · 01/02/2026 19:56

Big M&S. I live near a huge store.

I live a two minute walk from Booths.

I love Booths too ❤️

Vivienne1000 · 01/02/2026 20:00

Liberty.
i can’t afford much in there, but could easily spend hours and hours mooching…..

boxofbuttons · 01/02/2026 20:00

I live in walking distance of a Booths and it's dangerous. My pick would be Home Bargains: the amount of times I need something specific it'd be very helpful. My other pick would have been Wilko (RIP). The absolute undisputed champ for 'oh I need a specific knitting tool' or 'I need some garden seeds' or whatever.

OttersMayHaveShifted · 31/01/2026 14:37

I live 3 mins' drive from one branch of Booths and work round the corner from another Grin. I go there a lot, but never for a full shop, or I definitely would be bankrupt!

Oh my goodness, how lucky you are. We used to look forward to arriving in N Yorks and making the Ripon Booths the very first place we went. It was heartbreaking when it closed.
