I can’t lie, Home Bargains. I just love it.

I'd like a garage with an M&S food attached.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 31/01/2026 17:04

A proper French market would be amazing

BaronessBomburst · 31/01/2026 17:06

Another vote for M&S!

The Lidl ciabattas and breads from the rustic range are great as they contain natural ingredients and aren't UPFs like most supermarkets. Even the pizza slices aren't too bad. The croissants, baguettes, and other bakery items contain additives.

I’m really lucky that I live 13 min walk from Tesco, 15 min walk from both Aldi and Lidl, a 5 min walk to Dunelm, a little further up the road from Dunelm is The Range and if I wanted to walk 18 mins I’ve also got B&M and Matalan.

A little up the road the other way is a farm shop and cafe.

Makingadecision · 31/01/2026 17:08

M&S

Primark.

I'm easily pleased.

I LOVE Primark. A shopping trip there is like childbirth. You’re so excited about it but conveniently forget how bad it is 😁

I live near enough to most shops , very convenient but… I’d swap them all for the kind of shop I lived near abroad years ago. Massive supermarket sized charity shop with everything immaculately sorted , but most definitely NOT the type of charity shop we have here. Everything can be donated. Stuff is repaired to sell , or sold as rags etc but barely anything leaves the shop to be recycled off site. Stuff is sold according to what it is, eg shirts are all £1, all towels are 50p, rather than what someone thinks it’s worth. Stained, holey, it’s all just sold and if someone thinks they can repair it, great. Broken stuff is dismantled and sold for its parts, old screws, bits of wood … it’s all fair game.
So handy. I barely bought anything new for years.

I get very jealous when I see people on YouTube go to Goodwill in the US/Canada as it's exactly as you describe.

I live a 7 minute walk from the city centre that has most of the high street shops mentioned here. I walk through a large M&S food hall to and from work every day as it cuts a corner off my walk. I also have John Lewis another 1-2 minutes further on. The reasonably big Primark is closer.

I’ve got 2 cinemas, a small theatre and 42 pubs within 10 minutes walk.

Are you jealous? 😁

I can’t think of a shop I’d need closer! Erm, TK Maxx? That’s a 10 minute drive away.

Edited

I thought we must live in the same place but we also have a TK Max!

We once accidentally booked an Airbnb opposite a Greggs for a long weekend. We were all on diets, so we meal planned, shopped, and made up a cooking rota to limit the damage from our booz four day trip.

Four days, and several million sausage rolls later, we packed up all our healthy food and headed home half a stone heavier than we arrived. My trainer tried to tell me it was water retention, and it was impossible to gain half a stone in four days. I assured him it was not 😂

I love you 🤣

M&S Food. An enormous one!

I went into the Brixton branch today which has recently been refurbished. Seriously cool!

I don't this is right sadly. The ciabatta has emulsifiers doesn't it?

I live near a Lidl and it's handy for veg but I find the meat and most of their own brand stuff pretty shit. Bread is okish - similar quality to other supermarkets.

victormeldrewcantbelieveit · 31/01/2026 17:22

Gloucester Services.

Luckyingame · 31/01/2026 17:35

Costco, probably.

JMSA · 31/01/2026 17:42

Best £2.99 I ever spent yesterday. A play tunnel for my new rescue cat. She loves it, especially when she’s got the zoomies!

I'm gutted my local Hobbycraft has recently closed, but still have Aldi, the Range, Home Bargains, Halfords, M&S food, John Lewis, Dunelm, Curry's, McD, Costa, Sainsbury's all within 10/15 mins walk. And Cotswold furniture recently opened. Hoping to get B&Q in old Homebase site. I miss Homebase. Love my location.

lazyarse123 · 31/01/2026 17:44

Home Bargains. Especially one with a cafe. I'm cheap but happy.

lemoncrisp · 31/01/2026 17:46

Ooh I'd love an IKEA!

I have John Lewis, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Lidl, 2 x M&S food, Majestic Wine, a farm shop, an artisanal bakery (amazing bread) and Home Bargains all within about 20 minutes walking distance.

SedatedSloth · 31/01/2026 17:58

Ikea.

Mmmm meatballs

Woo383040 · 31/01/2026 18:04

I live quite near to a large M&S with a foodhall together with a large Next. The trilogy for me would have been a John Lewis with a Waitrose foodhall. Sadly we got a Costa drive thru.
