I can’t lie, Home Bargains. I just love it.

One thing keeping us in our small 2 bed flat with 2 kids even though we could do with more space - is the location
ive got Aldi, Asda & a big Sainsbury’s all in 5 mins walk
Massive boots, tk maxx, b&m, primark all on my walk home from work (10 mins from the house)

il struggle if we move 😹

BunnyLake · 31/01/2026 15:33

Itsu. I get random noodle and sushi cravings so could just pop in for an occasional treat. I can get something quite decent for a tenner.

I'm 15 mins walk from a John Lewis with a Waitrose there too. And 10 from a big M&S food and a big Primark. 2 minutes from a Lidl.

Id like to be near a really great haberdashery, John Lewis used to be ok but now seems to be mostly kits and cricut stuff. Walkable to Selfridges would be fun!

I grew up by a haberdashery. I just loved going there and planning which ribbons or buttons I would buy with my pocket money. I always thought I would get my grandma to sew my amazing button collection onto my cardigans but I never remembered to take them when we visited 😂

Now, I’d love a refill or bulk shop. We have a good high street but it lacks this.

DisforDarkChocolate · 31/01/2026 15:34

Waitrose, I how I miss it.

DisforDarkChocolate · 31/01/2026 15:35

I used to live in a town with a fantastic eco shop. Wonderful products that really helped me reduce my single use plastic. There is nothing like that near me.

When DP's work moved to an office next to a Greggs, they all gained a stone and a half in the two years until they relocated again!

An entire office of people slowly inflating. 😄

A social experiment in real time
brilliant

frozendaisy · 31/01/2026 15:36

Waitrose
not for everything but boy do they have some gems worth paying for

Livpool · 31/01/2026 15:36

Home Bargains!

Lidl!

Same here!

I'd love to be next to an IKEA but it would be an absolute eyesore after a bit!

Scrabsqueak · 31/01/2026 15:43

Dobbies garden centre!

VictoriaEra · 31/01/2026 15:44

Marks and Spencer. Fabulous treat food and great clothes.

peacefulpeach · 31/01/2026 15:45

Waitrose. We used to live a walk away from Waitrose but then moved. And now our closest food shop is Tesco. I’m disappointed every time. At least the Tesco points are worthwhile. Unlike the Waitrose sham.

The Range

Dahlia1234 · 31/01/2026 15:51

This happened with my office when they started doing free breakfasts to encourage people to come in. It was plates of pastries and actual cakes like donuts and stuff. Visible weight gain across the group! There was enough that lots of people were having a couple for lunch too.

Delphiniumandlupins · 31/01/2026 15:51

I'm another vote for Booths. I don't think I would go bankrupt, just wander round and admire everything.

SquashPenguin · 31/01/2026 15:52

Waitrose. Id be so happy.

PrimaniTu · 31/01/2026 15:53

Selfridges. They sell yummy food, fabulous clothes, electric items etc practically everything you need. Obviously only if money was no object. If I had to be realistic then a mega M&S although I’d still be bankrupt but it would take longer than a week. Grin

We once accidentally booked an Airbnb opposite a Greggs for a long weekend. We were all on diets, so we meal planned, shopped, and made up a cooking rota to limit the damage from our booz four day trip.

Four days, and several million sausage rolls later, we packed up all our healthy food and headed home half a stone heavier than we arrived. My trainer tried to tell me it was water retention, and it was impossible to gain half a stone in four days. I assured him it was not 😂

Booths on one side. McD's on the other.

Arlanymor · 31/01/2026 15:58

Does a pub with live music, candles and views over a beautiful bay count?
