I feel behind now it’s nearly February.

OP posts:
Oneborneverydecade · 27/01/2026 17:27

We spent a weekend at Centre Parcs and I took my youngest to watch Paddington.
That's unusual for us though, don't have much planned for February.

Nomedshere · 27/01/2026 17:27

Been away twice for a long weekend and we were away for a week at Xmas.
But we are retired.

TreeDudette · 27/01/2026 17:29

No, we aren't away until March. Never really do a lot in the depths of winter.

Radiatorvalves · 27/01/2026 17:30

Skiing at NY and 24 hours in northern France (cheap Eurostar tickets). Now looking forward to a night in a (pretty grim----) northern town not known for tourism… have to go as DH has a sort of work related commitment and we can go on after and see my dad.

Behind? What do you expect to have done in January vs everyone else? This is weird.

StonwEd · 27/01/2026 17:40

Weekend in London and moving house in a few days, that'll do for January

BluntAzureDreamer · 27/01/2026 17:43

Had a week in the Canaries just after new year. Best time for a holiday IMO, get away from this god awful winter 💙

Dorrieisalittlewitch · 27/01/2026 17:46

Nope. Most exciting thing we've done this month was go swimming at the "fancy" pool. We spent the first week of January snowed in (NE Scotland), wfh and trying to get the kids to do the supplied homework. Been playing catch up ever since.

Got a weekend away in the UK in Feb and about to book Belgium in April.

44PumpLane · 27/01/2026 17:47

Hae done nothing of any note, I'm fine with that. The weather has been awful and we have a very busy November through to new year.

Placetobreathe · 27/01/2026 17:49

As some one who all my life has never had more than one holiday a year - usually a fortnight in summer- I find it amazing that you feel you are missing out by not having had a holiday by February!

When I was young and single I did sometimes go and visit friends for a weekend on top of the annual holiday though.

When I started work I was quite taken aback that the group of women I worked with had two interests : Christmas and where they were going to go for their holiday. That's what their lives centred round and I found it quite strange how little pleasure their every day lives were and so boring to them that they only lived for Christmas and holidays.

I know though that from what I've read on MN i'm an oddity when it comes to holidays.

DragonsAndDaffs · 27/01/2026 17:50

A few days away over New Year, a panto trip and a trip to see Mary Poppins musical.
Nothing planned for Feb.
Cruise end of March

Wednesdaysotherchild · 27/01/2026 17:51

I went to Bromley🤣

Nothing. Rarely do much in the winter anyway. Have booked a holiday for Easter though! And have a summer holiday to look forward to also! Roll on the spring!

LifeBeginsToday · 27/01/2026 17:53

It's not normal to go on holiday so often. This is the curse of social media - seeing what others are doing and thinking you are behind. I've barely left the house this month. January is a hunker down, knit with a nice audio book month not a take a holiday month.

Princessoflitchenstein · 27/01/2026 17:54

We do something ‘big‘ as a family each month.
January was clay pigeon shooting for everyone and this weekend it is Avatar at the cinema.
February we are going Malta an christening of the shed being put up at the allotment party

and so on …

SinicalMe · 27/01/2026 17:56

Went to Dubai at the beginning of the month for some winter sun.

ByJoyousViewer · 27/01/2026 17:56

Gran canaria for new year was lovely ☺️

Redcloaktraitor · 27/01/2026 17:56

We had a nice day out in the nearest city for DDs birthday, she has enough to put up with having it in early January!
Some holiday from work in Feb half term planned, but we will just stay home then.
One holiday a year in August, and that will be in the UK somewhere. Other things take priority when it comes to spending, I would rather make our day to day life easier if I can.

SumTingWongwithme · 27/01/2026 17:57

We usually go to Sri Lanka this time of year and am missing it but we are off to South Korea in September for a wedding and moving house so have had to miss it. It makes the winter bearable and I work most of Xmas so look forward to my winter holiday.

Racingadmin · 27/01/2026 17:58

maldives for ten nights .

My work is very seasonal and start of January is the quietest time of year .

i don’t / can’t really take any leave from June to mid September so take the opportunity for winter sun now we are no longer tied to school holidays

LowdermilkPark · 27/01/2026 17:59

We’ve done fuck all this month. Very unmotivated to socialise in dry January. We’d normally squeeze in a few days’ skiing, but my husband has been too busy with work.

We’re going on a hot holiday in February though.

Waitingfordoggo · 27/01/2026 18:07

We’re in Lanzarote at the moment. This is our main, most expensive holiday/treat of the year. We both find winter very hard going on our mental health so this is a massive treat for us. We will go to France in the summer with our caravan and that will be cheaper than this. Aside from that, we have tickets for three gigs this year but no other plans.

We live on the south coast and usually get some great weather most years at some point over the summer so we make the most of that when it comes by going to the beach/out and about as much as possible. I don’t see the point in forking out to go to the Med in August. (Our kids are young adults and don’t always travel with us now, but when they were younger we usually did our main holiday in October half term or Easter as it was a bit cheaper than summer hols and not stupidly hot in Southern Europe).

GRCP · 27/01/2026 18:09

Not for me - I actively ensure I have no plans in Jan! Got some lovely stuff booked in later in the year though - stand up comic, birthday party, Derren Brown, holiday abroad, a couple of camping trips…

amoosebouche · 27/01/2026 18:11

No, have been keeping my head down in Jan. But, have had a couple of cinema trips, eaten out twice, and been to pub once. So quite happy with that! Very much looking forward to an Easter city break and a proper summer holiday abroad.
