I feel behind now it’s nearly February.

OP posts:
MooFroo · 27/01/2026 18:11

Theatre shows that were Xmas pressies
meal out at fancy restaurant and that’s me done for the month!

mamaduckbone · 27/01/2026 18:13

We’ve been to a comedy night and the cinema. That’s quite impressive for January in my books.

Spa day and a few days at the coast (visiting family) in February. I’d actually love to bugger off to the canaries for half term but budget won’t allow that if we want to go away later in the year, so windswept Suffolk will have to do.

ShakyFridge · 27/01/2026 18:14

No, but I've booked to go and see a friend (flight away) in March and we have booked Efteling for May. Next month we're going to a football match which involves a weekend trip and maybe to London to see a show.

DinoLil · 27/01/2026 18:15

I've not even left the house since December 😆

elliejjtiny · 27/01/2026 18:17

I have barely left the house this month. Money is always really tight after Christmas and I don't have a winter coat. Will take ds3 to the local college play next week and going out for the day to visit ds1 in half term. Then got a meeting at school later in February. Hopefully weather will be better at Easter.

LightYearsAgo · 27/01/2026 18:18

Another day on mumsnet and another thing I had no clue was a thing, why on earth would you be behind, and behind what?

Is there some kind of bar we should be meeting 😁

MaryBeardsShoes · 27/01/2026 18:19

Done an experience 😂 I’ve been to the theatre if that’s what you mean???

IAmTheLogLady · 27/01/2026 18:20

Bulgaria skiing at the weekend.
I've also been to the cinema and to the ballet.
That's it.
Got a long weekend booked soon in Morocco.

Tillygan60 · 27/01/2026 18:24

A week in Madeira beginning of January, looking at Canaries in a month's time...we're retired!

MyballsareSandy2015 · 27/01/2026 18:29

Portugal NY/early Jan.
Spain in a few days.

This isn’t usual for us. Kids have left and we are splashing out as hols are a lot cheaper now 🤣

Duckingpondlake · 27/01/2026 18:32

A week in the Canaries and an overnight stay in a city to go to a show with dd. It's been a great start to the year!

WonderingWanda · 27/01/2026 18:33

This is peak keeping up with the Joneses

It's not a competition to see who can achieve the most op. Just live your life and enjoy it.

I know some people having a horrible January, dealing with bereavement or illness and I bet they would love to just have an ordinary January.

NormasArse · 27/01/2026 18:38

Wales (coast) for NY, and now I’m in Madeira.

Both extremely windy! 😁

Theda13 · 27/01/2026 18:42

Nope. Nothing for me yet. I have a museum trip booked for March though. I’m looking into a theatre show for Winter time too. Will probably book it next month.

ooscal · 27/01/2026 18:47

January for me is hibernation time. But I'm retired so it's allowed! We were abroad for three weeks over Christmas and NY so that filled that gap and we avoided the Christmas crap. Highly recommend.

My sister and I have a trip once a year just us two. This year we are going to S of F after Easter (when the kids are back at school lol). I got a great bargain in Antibes B+B, good hotel reviews, +flights for 600 quid each. That area is expensive, so we are delighted as we had budgeted a bit more for it.

Will go away late September, but nothing sorted yet, it's his turn to choose this year, so I wait with baited breath (or horror lol!) to see where. It'll be Europe as our long hauls are over now, been there done that and 3.5 hr flight is the most I can bear now.

Lucky me, I don't take it for granted.

VenusClapTrap · 27/01/2026 18:52

I walked all the way down to the bottom of the garden today to see if it was flooded.

ReignOfError · 27/01/2026 18:54

Went away - in the UK - for a few days o er new year, and have had a weekend in the Peak District because a friend had a non-refundable hotel booking she couldn’t use.

We always go somewhere at new year, but not usually in January, and I can’t say I’ve ever felt I’m missing out.

Was it ?

YourJustOrca · 27/01/2026 19:24

I’ve had a night away at the coast and been to the cinema about 10 times!

Squirrelchops1 · 27/01/2026 19:35

Lol
..im just waiting to get paid on Friday! I know very few people who afford January holidays.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/01/2026 19:35

I’ve just retired, DH and I went to London for a week. Weather ok, not as crowded as other times of year so good for getting tickets to shows and exhibitions and pleasant walking through the parks.

Belladog1 · 27/01/2026 19:38

Planning an April week in Paris at the moment, but that will be my only 'proper' holiday this year.

I have a week in August off, but that will ne day trips. Luckily I live in Suffolk, so plenty of seaside trips and pubs lumches to fill the days

IsThisLifeNow · 27/01/2026 19:41

Nope, not a thing, haven't even been out to a restaurant i don't think either sadly!

I have been to the cinema 8 times though, but I've got an unlimited card, so not quite the spending spree it sounds like!

budgiegirl · 27/01/2026 19:43

I've been for one night in a spa/hotel with dinner. But only because it's my birthday in January. Otherwise I'd have done bugger all.
