To think you actually need 2k a week to live on?

Post bills/house etc?
For a brilliant quality of life?

Perfect week stuff as in fun activities, no budget. Food shopping throwing everything in the trolley - lots of easy food. Being able to order Ubereats whenever you fancy ?

How so? It’s no diffrence to those ‘if you won the euro millions’ threads

If you wrote “what would you do if you had £2k per week spending money”, that is very different to “we all need £2k per week spending money”…

Tinnybinnylinny · 26/01/2026 23:20

Sensiblesal · 26/01/2026 23:16

I say this kindly but are you a person who is not very rich/doesn’t have much disposable income?

your list is very much council estate person on the breadline who has had a sudden winfall for a week.

almost £900 on food, you must have a lot of kids 😂
the breakdown of spends just beggars belief. Honestly if you had that kind of disposable income you would not be wasting it with nothing to show for it at the end. £50 in savings is mental

Sadly, this! 900 a week on M&S and Uber eats food is a serious amount of food (I shop weekly at M & S, I buy whatever I want but would never spend 500 quid a week. Even say when I have spent 600 quid on a shop there will have been wine/ champagne, cleaning materials, tins etc and then the next week it’s only a few fresh bits….so maybe 50-75 quid!

TheIcyAquaFawn · 26/01/2026 23:20

HollaHolla · 26/01/2026 23:19

No. What you said is that you NEED £2k per week.
The thought of what you would spend a windfall, or excellent income on, is completely different.
It's semantics.

I wasn’t able to elaborate correctky. I don’t know what semantics means

Ok fun task.

500 in m&s on shopping.
120 on a box of 200 ciggies
380 on Uber eats etc

350 on clothes shopping
200 on scratch cards
100 give money to friends
300 make up or house stuff
50 savings

I do enjoy scratch cards but I'd get repetitive strain injury scratching £200 of scratchcards each week! You'd be scratching away all day

It centres on linguistic meaning, and the importance of using the correct words. A quick google would give you the full explanation, but the difference between 'want' and 'need' is surely relatively easy to see.

I would get 20 of the 10£ ones I’ve always wanted one but not been able to

I think I'd be happy with £1000 a week. I'd take the family out for dinner twice a week, three courses. That's half of it gone. I'd buy a pret wrap and coffee after after work each day. £100 for a spa treatment on the weekend.

RomeoRivers · 26/01/2026 23:25

This thread has given me such a giggle! 😂

Ah see, I know my place, I stick to the £3 ones where the max prize is £300k.

Wouldn't really know what to do with a 100 million pounds or whatever the euro millions is

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 26/01/2026 23:27

If it had to be on frivolities instead of anything practical:

Gym membership
Wine subscription
Mounjaro
Theatre/cinema/gigs etc
Fancy restaurants - why blow £280 on steak you have to cook yourself when you could blow £200+ in one night?
Organic veg box deliveries
Pets
Classes eg pottery, aerial skills, fencing, surfing, piano
Gardening (plants add up, especially if they don’t always survive my cack-handed efforts)
Sewing stash (and I could buy an overlocker)
Books
Haircuts/waxing/nails etc etc
Holidays, city breaks, spa trips, weekends in shepherds’ huts with hot tubs

£280 on a steak meal for you and 'your hunk?'

I'm done. This thread has reached peak batshit. Confused I can't take anything seriously that you're saying ... I'll leave you to it.

And in addition to the hunks of meat, they’re eating McDonald’s several times and smoking at least 30 a day 🤢

I like the idea of getting facials. I’d also join a REALLY expensive gym with pool etc.

Overthebow · 26/01/2026 23:29

TheIcyAquaFawn · 26/01/2026 23:13

Well ok. But what else am I suppose to say really? He’s just a boyfriend (currently) so can’t call him hubby or finance yet

Anything but ‘hunk’. Maybe… boyfriend?

That’s not ‘to live on’, that’s having a ridiculously luxurious lifestyle.

gamerchick · 26/01/2026 23:32

Depends on what you see as a treat tbh. All the takeaways you want arent a treat, they're heart attacks on a bike and you would probably need 2 grand a week to include smoking. Which also isn't a treat.

Well you've made me laugh OP. I would be happy with 2k 'fun money' a month TBH...

But if i had 2k a day, rather than ciggies and uber eats , I would be spending it on designer clothes and shoes , a private chef cooking me fancy, healthy meals everyday , a daily personal trainer, massage & facials and a brazilian blow dry. I can only dream
