Post bills/house etc?
For a brilliant quality of life?

Perfect week stuff as in fun activities, no budget. Food shopping throwing everything in the trolley - lots of easy food. Being able to order Ubereats whenever you fancy ?

Ok fun task.

500 in m&s on shopping.
120 on a box of 200 ciggies
380 on Uber eats etc

350 on clothes shopping
200 on scratch cards
100 give money to friends
300 make up or house stuff
50 savings

A WEEK? LMFAO. 😂 What planet are you on mate? 😆

£500 on M & S shopping! £200 on scratch cards! Nearly £400 on uber eats.

Every week?!

Who the F spends like this, on this shit?! 😆 Giving 100 pound to friends, and nearly £700 on clothes and make up and 'house stuff!'

Every week?!

Also.... What 'house stuff' do you need 'every week?'

This thread is getting more batshit by the minute. 😂

Your idea of a great life isn't mine. Cigarettes? Never smoked. Constant Ubereats? No thanks, just occasionally for a treat. "lots of easy food" in the shopping trolley I'd rather eat healthily. Scratchcards? Pointless.

I could get behind having lots of holidays though, and I do like theatre or other nights out.

TheIcyAquaFawn · 26/01/2026 22:50

but that’s the joy of it / unmeaningful spending. Just treats, takeaways, coggies etc

No way would I spend £2k on a week on takeaways treats and ?!coggies?!

I spend whatever I want and I would seriously struggle to spend 500 quid a week in M&S,
even if buying flowers etc!

I would have no problem as decent steak is almost 20 a piece so x2 for me and my hunk then that’s 280 just on steak

ok, I don’t smoke so wouldn’t buy any cigarettes. The food either in takeaway or M&S form, absolutely not, would feel gluttonous and yuck eating that much

I don't know what planet you live on @TheIcyAquaFawn but we live on one third of that!

£2K a week is £100K a year. The vast majority of people do not earn this, or anywhere near this! (Many people have less than half of this!)

the OP also said after house and bills!!!1

£280 on a steak meal for you and 'your hunk?'

I'm done. This thread has reached peak batshit. Confused I can't take anything seriously that you're saying ... I'll leave you to it.

Well ok. But what else am I suppose to say really? He’s just a boyfriend (currently) so can’t call him hubby or finance yet

£280 on steak? Glad to be a vegetarian!

HollaHolla · 26/01/2026 23:14

You are joking. I've got pretty much £2k a month left after mortgage and key bills (electric/council tax/insurance) are paid. Then there's the student loans, MOT, servicing, home maintenance, before there's even food and fun spends. If I had £2k a week, I wouldn't be wasting all that money on cigarettes and scratch cards; that would be enough for a city break a few times a year, and/or saving for a big holiday. Also, savings??
Yes, it would be NICE to have £2k a week, but it's pretty tone deaf here, when so many folks are struggling.

Tumbleweed101 · 26/01/2026 23:14

I need £2k a month to live my modest life. Sadly I don’t quite earn that much so struggle. Anything over £2k a month and I’d be very comfortable and be able to take a nice holiday each year too. £2k a week would be a dream.

surely you can’t eat that much as you are also ordering 350 a week on uber eats!

Sensiblesal · 26/01/2026 23:16

TheIcyAquaFawn · 26/01/2026 23:02

You’re overthinking it - if you had 2k a week left after all bills etc your pensh would be good enough for retirement anyway

I say this kindly but are you a person who is not very rich/doesn’t have much disposable income?

your list is very much council estate person on the breadline who has had a sudden winfall for a week.

almost £900 on food, you must have a lot of kids 😂
the breakdown of spends just beggars belief. Honestly if you had that kind of disposable income you would not be wasting it with nothing to show for it at the end. £50 in savings is mental

I think boyfriend is an acceptable choice of describing your relationship.

What are you planning to spend it on😂 and find the time to spend that! Some point you end up having everything you need.

I've got horses. I could spend it.

200 “ciggies” a week? If you’re smoking almost 30 a day you probably won’t need that level of spending for long before you need to invest it in a funeral plan

surrealpotato · 26/01/2026 23:19

BatchCookBabe · 26/01/2026 22:44

I don't feel remotely inadequate because I don't need £2,000 a week to live on!

I find the whole premise of this thread ridiculous and nonsensical. I would imagine most people will feel the same, and will think the idea that you actually need £2,000 a week to live on farcical. I doubt people will feel inadequate. The OP is in cloud cuckoo land.

We usually live on around a tenth of this a week, after bills etc. We do fine. I remember one month we had a few hundred extra quid, so our weekly budget was a lot higher than normal. I bought a few extra treats and whatever but I actually struggled to spend it. When you've got what you need, you've got what you need. Anything else is waste. I'd rather save it.

IdaGlossop · 26/01/2026 23:19

If you do reach peak happiness and have £2,000 a week to chuck around, I'd spend some if it on health insurance. Nandos, McDonald's, Ubereats, tobacco. Your arteries are going to need unblocking one day soon.

HollaHolla · 26/01/2026 23:19

TheIcyAquaFawn · 26/01/2026 23:15

No. What you said is that you NEED £2k per week.
The thought of what you would spend a windfall, or excellent income on, is completely different.
It's semantics.
