They were unlikely to be a mum

They were unlikely to be a mum

What on earth?

Rituelec · 25/01/2026 08:20

No

QuietLifeNoDrama · 25/01/2026 08:21

The only assumption I’d make is that it’s none of my business….

bryceQ · 25/01/2026 08:21

Barely anyone I know had a baby before 30, except me, but I was 29! Silly question

ConnieHeart · 25/01/2026 09:00

I would be pretty sure that if a woman, or man, at any age, didn't have kids, then they were unlikely to be a parent. But they might be in the future

Pineapplewaves · 25/01/2026 09:05

No, not all. I had my DC at 40 and 44, a whole ten years after my 30th birthday.

Sid9nie · 25/01/2026 09:06

None of my friend group had kids by 30. All but one have kids now. And she didn't want children.

Didimum · 25/01/2026 09:08

I’m more shocked when people have kids in their 20s to be honest.

FudgeFridays · 25/01/2026 09:10

OP has gone away - presumably they got whichever thrill they were seeking from such an obviously provocative post.

annmarie6 · 25/01/2026 09:13

I wouldn’t think it at 30, but I do start to think it when people are 40. While it happens at 40+, your time is obviously running out and you’re on the clock.

RestartingForNY · 25/01/2026 09:39

OP - you're 30 - you have almost nothing about your life set in stone. Go and live your life and try and get what you want from it / build an amazing one.

That doesn’t mean that if you want to have kids your chances are only 50/50 when you get to 30 though.

All the people who don’t want kids and make sure they don’t have any are within the people who “don’t have any kids at 30” and make up a proportion of the 50% who then never have kids.

I agree, and I believe from what I've read that the proportion of women who have age-related fertility issues by age 30 is a very small minority.
It's not a statement I'm supporting, just that I've seen/heard it quite a few times in the last year or two from different sources and wondered if the OP had heard/read it too and that was why they mentioned 30 specifically.
I'm personally very interested in hearing of women post forty, particularly 45+ having pregnancies particularly using their own eggs, I find it fascinating and love to read experiences of that.

Sausagedog101 · 25/01/2026 12:53

Hun, are you ok??? Like seriously 😂

I had my first at 32 and second at 34!

AgnesMcDoo · 25/01/2026 12:56

How absurd.

is this a reverse?

DaisyChain505 · 25/01/2026 12:57

Totally outdated view. Many women are choosing (if they actually want children) to have them later in life so they can take their time finding the right partner, making themselves financially independent and living their lives before becoming a parent.

SquigglePigs · 25/01/2026 12:57

Of course not. Of my generation ish I only know of two couples who had babies before their 30's.

One couple married a couple of years after university, then had kids a couple of years later. And one was an accidental pregnancy at 19/20.

Everyone else has been 32-40.

CloakedInGucci · 25/01/2026 12:58

Given the average age to have a first child is higher than that, it would be a very stupid assumption

Comedycook · 25/01/2026 12:58

Cinema777 · 25/01/2026 00:40

They were unlikely to be a mum

If they were a man, then yes I'd absolutely assume that.

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 25/01/2026 13:01

I had my first at 32 and none of my friends had their kid before 30, so absolutely not 😂my best friends have had their kids all after 35

ExpectZeroContext · 25/01/2026 13:33

As expected, OP didn't come back. Hopefully, she had learnt the lesson and going forward she'll think twice before posting some mind numbing foolish nonsense.

x2boys · 25/01/2026 13:37

Was long term single at 30 met my dh at 31 had my first child at 33 and was a mother of two by 36 so no.

sashh · 26/01/2026 09:31

ExpectZeroContext · 25/01/2026 00:44

Absolutely. No women over 30 has ever in the history of human civilisation had a child

Edited

Also below 30.

It is now the law of the OP that all 30 year old females must give birth before you turn 31.

Wingingit73 · 26/01/2026 18:34

What is this post.?

SophiaSW1 · 26/01/2026 18:36

No

Fifthtimelucky · 26/01/2026 18:37

As someone who had their children at 36 and 38, no!

My mother was also over 30 when she had her first child.
