Trump is disgusting. However, he doesn't have the capability to apologise for his errors, rudeness, and lies. Shame on him.

British troops were on the front line in Afghanistan. The orange blimp is incorrect (again) many died and many were injured. They are rightly upset at his disgusting comments.

I don’t know why anyone is surprised. He’s repeatedly demonstrated his utter lack of respect for the armed forces, he’s described POWs and war dead as suckers and losers, he’s entirely incapable of empathy or kindness. It’s just more of the same.

Coming from draft dodger ‘bone spurs’ Trump too.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 23/01/2026 18:56

He's so disrespectful! I'm glad Starmer has come out and stated how disgusted he is

MaggieBsBoat · 23/01/2026 18:56

You are not wrong. He is a malignant narcissist and he cannot apologise but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be asking for one. Leaders all need to now start being open about how abhorrent he is otherwise it’ll be like Hitler all over again.

However, for the families of the victims, it's painful, dismissive, disgraceful 😢

457 British Army personnel were killed

I agree.

He should be pushed and pushed for an apology. He's insulted so many.

They shouldn’t take any notice - he’s an utter fool and total idiot who barely knows his left hand from right foot

I didn’t mean to diminish that, I’m very angry myself. My brother served in Afghanistan and has debilitating PTSD. I can only imagine how Trump’s disgusting comments feel for the bereaved. I’m just pointing out that this is absolutely on brand for this particular egomaniacal shit-trumpet, and I despair that in 2026 in the “free world”, this is the scum we’ve allowed to rise to the top 😞

I completely understood what you meant. I still think that the story needs sharing and sharing and attempts made to get an apology.

He doesn't seem to have the capability or empathy to understand what he says is wrong though.

We all know our troops were there. My son’s school had several children who lost their dads whilst serving in Afghanistan.
There’s a rumour afoot that DT is very unwell and won’t be on this planet much longer. I just worry what other nonsense he’s going to come up with before he shuffles off this mortal coil.

CitizenZ · 23/01/2026 19:48

The real problem is that Trump lies so brazenly and so often that it’s become background noise. Reasonable people roll their eyes and move on, while his supporters interpret the lack of challenge as confirmation that he must be telling the truth. Every false claim should be interrogated, evidence demanded, and the press should refuse to move on until he retracts and apologises. But that would require accountability, and it’s unlikely to happen.

Paul2023 · 23/01/2026 20:07

Correct me if I’m wrong, but British troops died in Afghanistan because of a war they got into following 9/11.

Not just British .Many European countries suffered militarily casualties.

NotDonna · 23/01/2026 20:13

@Paul2023 you’re absolutely correct. USA requested assistance - article 5 (THE only time used). But he seems to think they didn’t need NATO’s assistance; that NATO will never come to their aid. He needs to apologise.

Lopteluga · 23/01/2026 20:17

He’s not going to apologise.

The best response would be to inform him US military bases are no longer welcome in the UK, and not to send troops the next time the US calls on us for assistance.

I was going to say exactly the same thing.

GoatBusted · 23/01/2026 20:21

I can’t see him ever apologising. That would mean admitting he was wrong and he’s not capable of that.

Tiktok is awash with videos speculating whether he has dementia or neurosyphilis. Whatever it is I despair that this orange twat is a world leader.

ladymalfoy · 23/01/2026 20:26

@sprigatito may 'shit trumpet' become a new phrase.
Agree with everyone.

But the thing is the US bases here in the UK are here to defend us too. No good telling them to leave , that would put our security at risk.

Telling the US to bugger off would potentially backfire if the US pulled out of NATO and left Europe to get on with it without them.

We do actually need the US.

Many Americans believe Trump has frontal lobe dementia. He shows the classic symptoms - loss of inhibitions, reduced empathy, uses wrong words (called Greenland, Iceland in his speech - even with a teleprompter in front of him), repeating phrases, stands at a forward lean- hence why he grabbed on the lectern for dear life.

He's having regular IV drips for some reason, hence why he has that massive bruise on the back of the hand.

Yet The White House keeps saying BS statements its due to excess handshaking. Also claim he is 6ft 3 and 225lb (16st 1lb). Yeah when he stands to other politicians who are 6ft2 plus, he is shorter than them. Plus he's more 20st plus. Stop pulling fibs WH. We can see you are covering things up.

I cannot stand the man - he has destroyed the WH - paving over Jackie Kennedy's Rose Garden, knocked down the East Wing and put loads of sprayed gold embellishments everywhere in the Oval Office.

Plun · 23/01/2026 20:50

He is the opposite to Midas. Everything he touches turns to a pile of poo
