Trump is disgusting. However, he doesn't have the capability to apologise for his errors, rudeness, and lies. Shame on him.

British troops were on the front line in Afghanistan. The orange blimp is incorrect (again) many died and many were injured. They are rightly upset at his disgusting comments.

You know he’s really crossed the line when even Starmer is calling for him to apologise. He is a vile bully, nothing more and surrounded by sycophants who back his every word, that obnoxious little b*h of a press secretary is a woman who makes my blood boil.Almost his whole administration is the same. The only positive is the amount of serving and veterans in the US , who are making it clear how much they disagree with his comment

Worryabouteverything · 24/01/2026 10:05

He is a disgusting draft dodging bas*d. I hope he leaves this world ASAP.

sashh · 24/01/2026 10:22

It's not that he doesn't have "the capability to apologise", he does not think he has done anything wrong, ever.

Warmlight1 · 24/01/2026 10:31

Well it's not a surprise. It's also not worse than stuff he said before getting elected.
As to why as a society we are so incapable of identifying personalities who shouldn't be in power- the Taliban, for example, and dealing with then-
Couldn't we get a mechanism? Some sort of international psychology squad? Idk but it's got to be within our gift if we can get people to the moon.

was a vegetarian out of principle

no he wasn’t

he had bowel issues which were exacerbated by meat….he still ate meat

would not disagree with you that Trump is a dreadful excuse for a human being

Oh ok 🫣 he was just a regular monster then, who just liked dogs , maybe 😖.

Farage has distanced himself from it but the language is wishy washy as I assume he doesn’t want his pal to fall out with him. He said it’s ’not quite fair’.

Hes a dreadful excuse for a human being as well….worse

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 24/01/2026 10:50

Farage should be supportive of the uk….thats why he is worse

Sorry love 😀

wasnt having a pop honestly and apparently he did like dogs

PandoraSocks · 24/01/2026 10:54

Farage said he objects "politely" to what Trump said. Snivelling little sycophant. Note he went all the way to Davos, but didn't get a meeting with his orange hero.

Tigerbalmshark · 24/01/2026 11:00

Trump has said all of this before, and been met with similar outrage before. Didn’t he say our army hadn’t fought a war in 50 years, just a couple of months back?

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 24/01/2026 10:50

He’s supportive of his own pocket, and that is being lined by American right wingers. He’ll never criticise Trump, or the lucrative speech invitations will dry up.

Kendodd · 23/01/2026 21:15

Have his apologists come out and defended him on this? Farage and Co?
I bet the MAGA lot in the US are nodding along sagely with him.

Trump isn’t a lone maniac. He’s the voice of a well organised political movement. Bannon and co. Him are and his party will be difficult for the Americans to get rid of. He meant what he said, unfortunately.

Farage is his equivalent in the UK, and he’s studying him closely.

Jellybean23 · 24/01/2026 11:12

You think Trump has sunk as low as he can and then proves you wrong.

explanationplease · 24/01/2026 11:14

Boomer55 · 24/01/2026 07:06

Jake Berry (Reform) has come out and said it was an awful comment and that Trump should apologise.

He won’t, of course.

That lot think the same. We MUST avoid going down America’s route.

This. A thousand times this. This should be shouted and screamed from the rooftops. ‘I will object to that - politely’. A weak, spineless, mealy mouthed response. Pathetic, UNPATRIOTIC DICKHEAD.

HoppingPavlova · 24/01/2026 11:39

You are surprised and/or have only just realised this???

Plun · 24/01/2026 11:47

He is obnoxious, rude, petulant, uncaring, ignorant, arrogant, greedy, corrupt, a thief, selfish, insouciant of others. Plus loves his own voice.

Cannot stand him.

@KnifeForkSpork I like this one too:

Why do many British people not like Donald Trump?

Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from here in the UK, wrote this:

A few things spring to mind.

Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.

For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour, and no grace—all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.

So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.

Plus, we like a laugh.

And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty, or even faintly amusing—not once, ever.

I don’t say that rhetorically; I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever.

And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility—for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman.

But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is—his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.

Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers.

And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults—he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.

There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance, or depth. It’s all surface.

Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront.

Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul.

And in Britain, we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.

Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that.

He’s not even a spoiled rich boy or a greedy fat cat.

He’s more a fat white slug—a Jabba the Hutt of privilege.

And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully.

That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead.

There are unspoken rules to this stuff—the Queensberry rules of basic decency—and he breaks them all. He punches downwards—which a gentleman should, would, could never do—and every blow he aims is below the belt.

He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless—and he kicks them when they are down.

So the fact that a significant minority—perhaps a third—of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think, Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.

This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many others too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss.

After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet or hear him speak a sentence or two without staring deep into the abyss.

He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.

Brilliantly accurate.

Snivelling little sycophant is such an accurate description for this venal rat.

I try not to use the word hate that much - as a general rule. But, I hate Farage and I hate Trump.

I am perplexed and angry that so many support them.

Paul2023 · 23/01/2026 20:07

Correct me if I’m wrong, but British troops died in Afghanistan because of a war they got into following 9/11.

Not just British .Many European countries suffered militarily casualties.

Yes. They were helping America.

Plun · 24/01/2026 16:56

I think him being the first president for over 150 years not having any pet in the WH says a lot. Always see photos of past presidents having fun, stroking their pets.

I bet Trump has never said a bedtime story to his children

Paul2023 · 24/01/2026 17:18

Trump was born into privilege.

He has never served in the military either, including Vietnam , which he would have been of age too. So Trump avoided Vietnam.

And he has the gall to dismiss British and other NATO troops, as not being on the front line.

Jesus ,I must have dreamt the British army fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan then..

How dare he do this.

ShetlandishMum · 24/01/2026 17:23

I think it was in 2018 that Trumph threw Denmark under the bus in NATO calling Denmark out to be a bad ally.
The Danish Prime Minister was brave enough to speak out against Trump as Denmark lost as many soldiers as the USA in relation to population.

Now it is the UK's turn to be belittled.

It's grotesque.

That’s probably a good thing for any child that might’ve been on the receiving end of Trump at bedtime.
