I think he has finally lost any marbles he had in his tiny little brain!

I never said Trump wasn't democratically elected

After his first term he lost to Biden and seems to be implicated in a refusal to do a peaceful transition of power - but he won the last election.

I think that why so many not in US have an issue - he's twice been elected - this is a pattern showing the problems are wider than one man.

Maybe democracy is the problem, how would you run it?

USA is has been considered a flawed democarcy since 2016 by Economist Intelligence Unit so maybe they should address their many issues and go back to proper democracy.

I'm happy to be in a proper democratic country for all the issues we have here in UK.

I'm astounded Trump who seems heavily implicated in conspiracy to illegally over turn last election he lost got anywhere near re-election. It's a sad indictment of a poltical system in real trouble.

He is the US leader though - it's just bizzare though how he and so many other americans seem to not understand they can do things but the reaction from other countries and people may not be want they want - their actions having consquences and none american have agency of their own.

So Red Team or Blue Team for the last 100 years or so is your idea of democracy? Sorry I actually LOL when I read that. Was there a Liberal government at some point in the 1930"s or 40"s or something, can"t remember in all this excitement.

American exceptionalism Hmm I've never understood why so many US citizens are so proud of being completely ignorant - especially in age of information being a few key stroke away.

The last period of solely Liberal government was 1905-1916.

The will of the common people is being ignored by elites. Therefore democracy is failing. What we need therefore is a strongman to come in and ignore the elites and the will of the people. Or something...
Either because a country ruled by an absolute monarch is inherently more stable (compare France in the late 1700s to the absolute mess Britain was in). Or because we need a strong man to come in and press the reset button on Democracy. Like Sulla did for the Roman Republic.

If I cherry pick from history I can believe what I want basically.

Are you saying that what is needed is a benign dictator?
Surely that's an obvious oxymoron, a contradiction of terms?
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, therefore a dictator (being someone who has absolute power) cannot be benign.

I was being a bit sarcastic.
Sulla was an example of a benign dictator. He seized power and enacted a (bloody) purge of his enemies, used his absolute power to reset the system and fix the flaws (as he saw it) in the way the Roman Republics politics worked. Then.. he surrendered power and walked away believing he had saved the system. When all he had done was made it inevitable more people would do what he had done

Britain was riven with riots and chaos in the 1780s. To the extent they lost respect from countries like France who saw it as a symptom of the inevitable instability of constitutional monarchies compared to absolute monarchies like France. But it was the French system which collapsed.

I agree with you. But there are lots of very intellectual "think pieces" by people who quote Greek theories on political cycles out of context to the point they become almost memes. Think "edgy" 16 year old who has read Nietzsche and made it their personality. But in the body of a middle aged man. And you have the JD Vance/Miller/Cummings/Jarvin philosophical base.

Why? This is Bannon’s actual quote, and his actual strategy. Are we banning historical facts on MN now?

This was pre him actually saying it.
