Duncan Bannatyne says some men who use women only spaces are perverts

EspressoMachiato · 21/01/2026 12:22

I think he's wrong.

I think any man who uses a woman only space (outside of the janitor/cleaners when there are no women present) is a pervert as soon as he crosses the threshold

🤣I suggest you read the post again. HTH

Bannatyne is right. It is clear that the vast majority of women do not want any males, including transwomen in our single sex spaces. `it is also clear that the vast majority of women do not want mixed sex spaces to replace single sex ones.

Any man of whatever gender identity who ignores this and enters spaces that he knows makes women uncomfortable has zero regard for the feelings of women.

We know that not all men / trans women do this. The decent ones stay out all ready.

Anyone who advocates for mixed sex spaces to replace single sex ones is doing this to appease men without regard for the dignity and safety of women, the vast majority of whom have not consented to this.

There is a word for people who disregard the consent of women.

oh and that's not to mention the law.

The Supreme Court has clarified that where single sex spaces exist sex means biological sex.

If an organisation removes single sex spaces it is open to future indirect discrimination claims as this mainly negatively affects women.

Well I don't think male murderers or male window cleaners should have access to women's single sex spaces either, in fairness.

😂

you need to get out more. Or see a bit beyond your prejudice and assumptions that all people fit your stereotypes so you can safely decide who is male and who is female.

I would love to see you standing at the entrance of a public toilet challenging someone because you assume you know their sex and gender, and how you would enforce your assumptions.

Because that's what you expect shops and public places to do?

We can all tell who is male or female in person.

Social media filters fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

Most men are 5 or more inches taller than the average woman and men have bigger, wider frames, bigger heads, foreheads, noses (oh grandma what a big nose you have!), ears, jaws, hands, feet and lots more besides, all of which make it easy for even babies to recognise the male of the species.

Oh and most men have flat asses while "fat bottomed girls make the rockin' world go round" as Freddy Mercury used to sing.

Excellent article in the Critic which goes to the root of the matter. If a trans identifying man goes into a female single sex space he is basically saying that his trans feelings are more important than the discomfort his presence may bring to any woman in there. As he has no idea before he goes in just how many women are in there he is basically saying that his trans feelings trump the discomfort of each and every woman. He is also, by using the ladies, demonstrating that he is uncomfortable using the gents and that his discomfort in using the gents is more important than the discomfort of each and every woman he encounters in the ladies. Basically - female discomfort can move over to accomodate a man's preferences and pleasure.

I am not even answering that 😂

You REALLY need to go to a gym or a sports club, you'll be amazed 😂😂

So, to sum up, we are women because we are short with a small head and fat arse? Brilliant!

This thread must go in classics.

I have seen men using ladies toilets because they were the only ones with baby facilities (how ridiculous that it's still so common today!)

No one privacy and dignity was hurt because a man saw them washing their hands. - and of course none of the men were pervert.

Neither are the young boys who are there so their mum keeps an eye on them

Of course not everyone is a "pervert". I am more worried about people who are so strung up they see perverts everywhere

Young boys yes, but by about 8 this needs to stop and they need to use the men's changing rooms, unless there is a disability mean they need help to change for either physical or learning reasons.

soupyspoon · 21/01/2026 19:12

most of us will not send their 8 yo alone in a man's changing room. It's not even because of "MEN", we wouldn't send them alone in kids changing room either.

No one every says anything when you take your kids with you, in the rare shops left with "female-only changing rooms"

No - we're a dimorphic species.

Sorry if you can't tell the difference - that must be very limiting - happily the rest of us know a man when we see one. I've seen enough "dolls" to know they really don't "pass" at all.

Oh, I am sure you think you do.

I sincerely hope you do not have children and are not passing judgements on their friends when they do not fit your very narrow vision of the world.

wow, just wow.

Thankfully the law and legal changes are not going your way at all, and we are going towards improvements and not the discrimination you scream for. Good luck.

How bizarre that you think recognising what sex someone is is “passing judgement” 🤔

Did you…did you miss the Supreme Court judgement?

some posters might try hard to derail the thread, but it was about MEN who use so-called "women only", no one pretending to be anyone.

On a side note, it might be obvious that some men are just dressed as woman, but it's ridiculous to pretend someone KNOWS on sight. How does that work? They make an arbitrary decision? The store has to start a policy that your appearance must "look reasonably feminine" whatever the heck that means?

(I am still waiting for the poster to tell me how I should dress "accordingly" to me being female"

You (maybe inadvertently) have hit the nail on the head.

There are no standard of ‘femininity’ a woman must achieve to be allowed to use female only spaces - she just has to be female.
Likewise, even if a man wears a dress, it is not a passport to female only spaces - he is male.

It sounds like you may have a form of sex blindness, a condition I have very recently observed in people’s claims that they honestly can’t tell who is male and who is female and have to look at how they are dressed and their haircut to work it out.

Thankfully, I think the majority of the population can just use their eyes (and ears) and reliably discern a man from a woman. I can even do it at a distance - go me!!

All men, regardless of their outfit should stay out of women’s spaces. It really is that simple. The teeny minority of men who are in sole charge of their baby can find the unisex facilities with baby changing and plan their journey accordingly.

Its not a narrow vision of the world to know that there are just male and female sexes.

And its my observation skills that allow me to recognise them. Not judgement.

Loving the passive-aggressive dig 😉💐

However, limiting or modifying access to, or excluding a trans person from, the separate or single-sex service of the gender in which they present will be unlawful if you cannot show such action is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim. This applies whether or not the person has a Gender Recognition Certificate.

You might also want to read the Equality Act of 2010

But again, good luck

Zuma76 · 21/01/2026 20:13

Namelessnelly · 21/01/2026 15:29

So what does dressing as a woman or identifying as a woman mean? If no one knows what a woman is, how can someone identify as one?

What are you talking about? Why are worried about what I think. I responded to a specific point. I did not say men wearing women’s clothes should be able to use women only spaces. (and yes there are women’s clothes. They are sold in the womens’s section of every high street store. )

Where is that quote from? That wording is not directly taken from the Equality Act, so where is it from?
