Duncan Bannatyne says some men who use women only spaces are perverts

I think he's wrong.

I think any man who uses a woman only space (outside of the janitor/cleaners when there are no women present) is a pervert as soon as he crosses the threshold

I have seen men using ladies toilets because they were the only ones with baby facilities (how ridiculous that it's still so common today!)

No one privacy and dignity was hurt because a man saw them washing their hands. - and of course none of the men were pervert.

Neither are the young boys who are there so their mum keeps an eye on them

Of course not everyone is a "pervert". I am more worried about people who are so strung up they see perverts everywhere

Men who use ladies toilets for the baby changing facilities and young boys with their mothers are NOT pretending to be women though, so it’s a false equivalence.

😂

you need to get out more. Or see a bit beyond your prejudice and assumptions that all people fit your stereotypes so you can safely decide who is male and who is female.

I would love to see you standing at the entrance of a public toilet challenging someone because you assume you know their sex and gender, and how you would enforce your assumptions.

Because that's what you expect shops and public places to do?

How did these women know that they were men in the ladies?

I have no idea 😂

Off you pop to campaign for those then, that’ll keep you occupied. Good luck

I don't need to, they already exist and more and more stores are setting them up 😂

ThatCraftySquid · 21/01/2026 16:32

some posters might try hard to derail the thread, but it was about MEN who use so-called "women only", no one pretending to be anyone.

On a side note, it might be obvious that some men are just dressed as woman, but it's ridiculous to pretend someone KNOWS on sight. How does that work? They make an arbitrary decision? The store has to start a policy that your appearance must "look reasonably feminine" whatever the heck that means?

(I am still waiting for the poster to tell me how I should dress "accordingly" to me being female"

ThatCraftySquid · 21/01/2026 16:32

sashaymashay · 21/01/2026 16:14

No shop ever did this before and everyone seemed to know where to go.
Unless you think some people don't know their biological sex and need someone in a shop to tell them.

😂

Apparently not because posters are outraged that some people use facilities where they don't - according to them - belong

Boomer55 · 21/01/2026 16:32

He’s right. 👍

And the mask slips. 🤣

You really do have a wild imagination but you believe humans can be born in the wrong body so totally on brand I guess.🤭

Indeed. Not enough to want to believe men can fool women into accepting them in women's spaces. The real lolz come from the idea that an actual woman could be hurt or upset because she appears less of a woman than a man. Which is obviously complete nonsense. But it's an interesting example of the jealousy, competitiveness and misogyny at the heart of it.

I am and always have been gender critical and I absolutely do not want men or transwomen in women's spaces, including the loos, but I don't believe all transwomen are perverts.

I agree with this

Boys aged 8 and over should be changing in the facilities provided for the sex. Its very uncomfortable for young girls in the early stages of puberty when there are boys as old as 8 or 9 being brought into the girls changing rooms, they are old enough to change in the boys changing room by themselves.

that's the whole point isn't it.

Store changing rooms are not female space, will no exist as "female space" and there's no need for any anger and drama.

There's still a lot of work to be done on that one, but the same way "family" facilities are for either mum or dad to change their babies. Not soon enough, but we shouldn't have baby facilities exclusively in women's toilets.

Can't have it both ways!

@ThatCraftySquid

just in case you missed the last posts. I think you might do well to see the reasons.

Some women don’t feel comfortable sharing a room with men where there are multiple enclosed cubicles within that room. The set up of a women's toilet for example. One of the reasons for this is it could just be her and a man in there on their own in that enclosed room. This might be because;

  1. she has previously been a victim of sexual assault. 110000 women were sexually assaulted by an unknown male in a public place last year. And 5 in 6 don't report this, so the numbers are much higher.
  2. she may have been upskirted or filmed by a man in a public place. Cameras being left in toilets filming women in cubicles left by men are in the rise.
  3. she may be a woman who has a young child and sometimes needs to jam the pram in the cubicle and leave the door slightly ajar. This is fairly common for mothers out with sleeping babies.
  4. she may suffer from heavy periods or use a moon cup and doesn’t want to wash menstrual blood from her hands in front of men
  5. she may be constrained by religous beliefs where she can’t undress or be in an enclosed room with unknown men
  6. She may be trying to get away from a man following her or worse and seeking a safe place of refuge.
  7. most importantly she may just want a single sex space for her own reasons

I think you kind of have to be at least a little perverted to get turned on by the thought of dressing up as a woman but what do i know

Dgll · 21/01/2026 17:05

Spying on women changing and women in toilets is not an uncommon sexual interest, which is why most people look askance at men using these spaces.

Once men's desires trump rules that are put in place to safeguard women, it does seem a bit ridiculous.

Actually there are female changing spaces. Primark is one example that has specific female changing facilities and all gender changing facilities.

ThatCraftySquid · 21/01/2026 17:33

excuse me, but people REALLY are clutching at straws

she may suffer from heavy periods or use a moon cup and doesn’t want to wash menstrual blood from her hands in front of men
in a CHANGING ROOM? who on earth is dealing with their moon cup in a shop cubicle?

Because I have news for you, but WOMEN aren't!

OonaStubbs · 21/01/2026 17:37

It's hardly a controversial statement. Some men are perverts so of course some men who use women-only spaces are perverts.

single sex spaces are not limited to changing rooms.

We’re not talking just about shops. HTH

WallaceinAnderland · 21/01/2026 17:54

Men should not be in female only single sex spaces because they are not female. If they are there, then there is a good chance they are there because they are a pervert.

I think you'll find no straws need clutching. Women's single sex spaces are for biological women says the SC. So we can be reading war and peace or dancing a Highland jig in them for all the business it is of TIM. Their only takeaway needs be that whatever we're doing, it doesn't include them.
