Apparently your more likely to be clean and tidy if you were.

Opposite story for me. My house is not dirty by any means and I wouldn’t say hugely untidy but it’s never ever perfect. This has got worse since my youngest DS who has SEN developed a fixation on lining up books according to publisher. At any given time we can have up to 6 lines of books in every room.

I’d argue my mother has undiagnosed OCD. The house was always PRISTINE, worse when she had severe anxiety and agoraphobia when my brother was small so didn’t work. She just dedicated most of the day to cleaning and tidying. She’s the same now, there’s never a thing out of place, never a speck of dust.

My husband is way tidier than me. He does all the laundry from start to finish. He sorts and organises my kids rooms. He is also the lead volunteer for a very large local kids group, works in London three days a week leaving the house at 6am (and at home the rest), is an actual ninja and a high earner. He also did the majority of the school runs until recently and has time scoped out daily in his diary for that.

He does get annoyed when the kids try and put worn once clothes in the laundry and he doesn’t change the bed sheets quite as often as I’d like. But, we all have our faults.

Yes - clean and generally tidy house (apart from my room!) growing up.
Now - clean and more or less tidy. I can cope with untidiness as long as the place is clean. That takes priority for me.

It’s the other way around for me. My house was like a show home growing up. Now I don’t mind a bit of clutter and the cushions don’t need to be straight and plumped up but I like things to be clean.
