Aibu to feel humiliated by this

So my DH had a peloton ride today. When he finished he went upstairs (very sweaty) and sat on the ensuite toilet seat to "cool down a bit", had a shower then came downstairs and sat and had his lunch. While he was eating I took some clean clothes upstairs to put away. Part way through I needed the loo so went to use the toilet. I sat down and the seat was wet. I very quickly realised I was sitting in DH's sweat! 🤮

I feel pretty disgusted by this and we ended up having a big row over it. I feel justified in being upset but not sure if I'm making a bigger thing out of it than is necessary. Not sure what I'm asking, I think I just needed to vent. I'd appreciate some perspective.

I don’t think humiliated means what you think it means.

IceBrownie · 17/01/2026 15:48

Do you understand the definition of "humiliation"?

Swedishh · 17/01/2026 15:50

Crazy to argue over this, surely you just ask him to clean it after sitting on it next time.

TessSaysYes · 17/01/2026 15:51

Personally I don't think it's worth a big row at all...unless he's a total slob I'd be more forgiving of smallish transgressions.

Screamingabdabz · 17/01/2026 15:52

I thought you were going to say you sat in his spunk… 😦

Even then it wouldn’t merit a row, just an eye roll and a ‘oh ffs…’

You - Urgh grim, I just sat in a puddle of your sweat.
Him - Christ, I'm an animal. I meant to clean up. Sorry.
You - Please don't do that again, it brought my bile up.
Him - Of course. D'you wanna cuppa?

Marriage continues in cheery fashion.

Or in my household it would be:
You - eww, I sat in your sweat, gross
Him - oops, sorry. Your bum ok?
Both of us laugh and move on with our day.

Life is too short and stressful enough without big rows over essentially nothing.

20thCenturyFecks · 17/01/2026 15:56

Yuk! He should have wiped down after himself.

Humiliated though? What else is going on in your life..

TokenGinger · 17/01/2026 15:57

I’ve had DP’s sweat drip all over me many times before, I couldn’t get worked up over it 😂

I’d simply say hey sweaty balls, you forgot to clean the bathroom after you. That’s one in the bank for me next time you complain I didn’t clear my hair out of the drain.

Eh?

i asssume you’ve swapped bodily fluids at this point before???

I mean yeah. Wouldn’t bother me at all. I’d just clean the lid. Wouldn’t gross me out though.

he didn’t do it on purpose so wouldn’t bother me but I know it would others.

shrug.

cardibach · 17/01/2026 15:59

If the shower is in the same room as the toilet, which is how I read it, it’s far more likely to have been condensation from shower steam surely? Sweat would have dried by the time he showered, dried, dressed, came downstairs and sorted his lunch.

DappledThings · 17/01/2026 16:01

Why on earth would it be humiliating? That makes no sense. Bit grossed out and annoyed sure.

GoldDuster · 17/01/2026 16:01

Humiliated why? If you've ever had a shag on a hot day you've been covered in his sweat and more hopefully.

I don't think that this is big row territory, it's wipe up the trail you leave behind, that's all.

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 17/01/2026 16:02

Humiliated? Strong word and not one I would use in the circumstances. Its a bit grim though.

I would mention to DH that he hadn't cleaned the seat and I had sat in his sweat. He would no doubt be mortified he forgot and apologise.

The End.

YourLoyalPlumOP · 17/01/2026 16:02

You sure it wasn’t condensation after a shower?

we have this in our en suite a lot. My husband likes hot hot showers.

RottenBanana · 17/01/2026 16:04

Its just a bit of sweat.
I assume you have sex with this man?

pictoosh · 17/01/2026 16:05

It wouldn't have bothered me...I'd have just given it a wipe.
Your upset and feeling of humiliation seems a strong reaction.

Whosthetabbynow · 17/01/2026 16:05

Fucked off, yes. Do you understand what humiliated means in its correct context?

It's pretty gross and definitely need you husband to clean up after himself, but not sure it's really something to get 'upset' about...

Clefable · 17/01/2026 16:08

It wouldn’t bother me really. But I do a lot of exercise and am often sweaty and that seems to have the opposite effect on DH Grin

FullLondonEye · 17/01/2026 16:09

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 17/01/2026 15:39

a man who doesn’t sweat you say? That’s not the win you might think…

😂You win the thread.

As for the OP on the other hand... Have you not had sex with this man, your husband?

Also I'm not sure humiliated means what you think it means.

Wolfpa · 17/01/2026 16:10

How is that humiliating? It’s a bit gross but people do gross things occasionally

Livpool · 17/01/2026 16:10

How is it humiliating?!

I can’t believe you started a row about something so trivial. Just tell him to make sure he wipes the seat.

YABU

KrimboBell · 17/01/2026 16:13

Not nice but hardly worth having a row over - just ask him to wipe the seat next time.

Delphiniumandlupins · 17/01/2026 16:16

If anyone was humiliated surely it's the person who sweats so much the loo seat is still wet some time later? I can understand being a bit grossed out but why not just ask him to make sure he wipes the seat if it's wet. It's part of the normal "leave the toilet in the condition you like to find it" process.

seaelephant · 17/01/2026 16:16

Humiliated? I'd think 'ew' and then immediately forget about 0.5s later, long before I was back in the room with him. I've had plenty male excretions around me and I presume you have too or you wouldn't be on this site.
