My doctor was late to my appointment because he had been at the local country hotel full of asylum seekers...

When was the last time you had a home visit? Is this a way of managing the " problem" by them taking clinics there? Is it a way of hiding this issue? I understood they did not have access to the NHS yet I see massive bags of medicine labelled for this hotel too at the dispensary. We wait about 6-7 weeks for a routine appointment.

You know what - being shouted at is a minor thing. How about pensioners being on waiting lists for months ? How about pensioners struggling to look after themselves with no or minimal social and medical help or care? How about our soldiers living in cold tin huts in some of these countries trying to keep the peace? The money that is being spent on these individuals is wasteful. Why can't these people follow correct procedure? They won't because they have heard about some of these suckers in this country.

You go shout at hotels, it will solve all those issues you are highlighting.

No and you obviously did not read any of that article.

I read the article and I’ve read some of the documents you posted, and your posts. It’s not clear who the man arrested in December outside the camp is, but fairly obvious he is not an asylum seeker. I think it’s embarrassing that your MP and council leader and intent on fomenting suspicion and mistrust.

How have people run away from the camp when there they only arrived 36 hours ago?

doodiethewonderdog · 23/01/2026 11:49

Nevermind17 · 23/01/2026 11:47

Which countries? I posted the figures showing how many MORE refugees other countries admit. Did you not read it?

Why do you think other countries don’t admit them? Is it because Tommy Robinson said so?

Would you jump off a cliff because others do? What kind of reasoning is that?

Ooooh " shouted at" ? 😂

Asylum seekers like anyone have the absolute right to be treated within the bounds of the law. The police suspect that this is not likely absent protection; hence, protection.

Do you object to the idea that British people should be made to obey the law?

Read, read, read ....why are you so keen to immediately dismiss what is happening ? Does it not suit your narrative?

Thanks, I have. Your MP is a piece of work eh? Not much to do in the town she says, perhaps she could do something about that instead of encouraging the protests that the resident quoted in the article describes as ‘scary’.

I’m not dismissing anything, I’m asking you to clarify your statement that people have run away towards Uckfield. Are you saying that people who arrived on Wednesday have already run away? Or are you saying that people have been housed there before Wednesday, and have run away?

For clarity, the only narrative I’m interested in is the truth. I’ve asked a straightforward question - three times now! - so maybe you can also stick to the truth.

Yeah, and it’s not just your file either by the sound of it. Clearly this is nothing to do with your doctor being late. We see you 😉

People were not housed there before Wed for the umpteenth time. The runaways are on local news.

This might have been said upthread but there could be myriad reasons why this would be a more effective way of seeing several people at once.

Proximity, time, any language barriers etc

They are not being detained, so they have every right to leave the site. They are only being encouraged to stay on site.
Can you share anything from a reliable source about people running away to Uckfield?

So why are you connecting people running away from hotels with this accommodation?

Presumably for the same reason you were grumbling about GPs at hotels but still need to moan about people being housed in a shitty barracks with on site healthcare so as not inconvenience local residents. You just want everyone to be deported. It’s not going to happen so you just need to get over it.

saraclara · 23/01/2026 13:37

I'm a volunteer at an immigration detention centre. It is absolutely normal, even standard, for people to be brought to the centre in the very early hours. I don't know why, but that's how the Home Office manages new detentions.
All new residents have to have a health check on arrival. That is for the protection of staff and other residents, not for the benefit of the new arrival.

Absolutely nothing unusual, devious or wrong is happening in the facility near you. It is not a detention centre or secure facility, so the asylum seekers there are not confined.

A GP carrying out health checks at 3 in the morning, is not costing anyone their appointment. They will be paid separately for this, and in many cases the money will go towards their GP practice, bringing more money into the NHS for local people, not less.

That's weird, which local news channel were you watching?

I live in East Sussex, about a 30 minute drive from Crowborough. I've just watched the news on BBC South East, and they were very clear that the first asylum seekers to be accommodated at Crowborough camp are arriving later today or tomorrow.

No and you obviously did not read any of that article.

I’ve read it all, and the Government link another poster put up. Both say it started/would start accepting asylum seekers on 22nd Jan. The article says something about protests before that, but they were about the concept. There were no asylum seekers there before this week according to both those sources. Do you have anything different to support your allegations?

When you can stop wars in other countries, then people will stop fleeing war.

The idea that refugees are coming to stay in a shitty hotel for £8 a week and the sneers of entitled Brits is laughable.

Walk across a country, cross the channel and spend your days in a refugee hotel eating rotten food. You'll have a roof over your head and heating! You'll have a doctor tending you!

It would be so easy for you to bob over to France and live their dream. Sure the authorities would eventually realise you you're a Brit. Nothing stopping you heading back to France and crossing the Channel again! Repeat as needed.

Then be sure to update the thread as to how long you wait for a GP appointment. I bet you can page him when you're seeking asylum and he just comes straight away.

I mean life is so shite here - but life is AMAZING for refugees!!

Take your life savings to keep crossing that channel. Live the dream!!

There is no war in Albania you woke fool.

It's sad that this cannot be discussed. It's not goady. It's a matter of fact for some people. What is Labour's solution? To build new homes for these men. How do people on council waiting lists feel about this. We ARE allowed to raise these issues.

Would you prefer them to be sitting in the waiting room with you?
I expect you would kick off about it on social media and some flag shaggers would turn up and cause their usual unpleasantness.
People are entitled to medical care. Thats it.

doodiethewonderdog · 17/01/2026 11:23

The question is why is an NHS doctor out doing home visits at this place when NHS funds are not supposed to be used?

They have to do a ‘home visit’ so that people like you don’t behave like this.
2% of the UK population are not the reason you can’t a Gp appointment . Also GPs do home visits where appropriate.

suburburban · 23/01/2026 18:57

@doodiethewonderdog yes perfectly valid questions

this constant arrival of so called refugees needs to stop as far as I am concerned

As of 2024, the latest figures, less than 3% of open asylum claims were made by Albanians. It is thought the figures are continuing to fall.
