My doctor was late to my appointment because he had been at the local country hotel full of asylum seekers...

When was the last time you had a home visit? Is this a way of managing the " problem" by them taking clinics there? Is it a way of hiding this issue? I understood they did not have access to the NHS yet I see massive bags of medicine labelled for this hotel too at the dispensary. We wait about 6-7 weeks for a routine appointment.

My file is thick I can assure you.

…not just your file

Hello Nigel

Cheese55 · 17/01/2026 11:29

Of course, asylum seekers have access to the NHS, you're thinking of no recourse to public funds which is housing and some benefits. Urgent healthcare is accessed, Urgent is anything that requires prescription medication.

Donttellempike · 17/01/2026 11:29

The Dr saw you. Problem solved

It's sad that this cannot be discussed. It's not goady. It's a matter of fact for some people. What is Labour's solution? To build new homes for these men. How do people on council waiting lists feel about this. We ARE allowed to raise these issues.

If you were actually local you will know there aren't single men at this property any longer

😂

Bumblebeehee · 17/01/2026 11:30

The question is why is it any of your business what a GP does before your appointment. You don’t even know if it’s true.

WallyHilloughby · 17/01/2026 11:30

Melisand · 17/01/2026 11:25

Here’s some advice for you.

whenever these irrational thoughts occur, remember how lucky you are not to be in the desperate situation of an asylum seeker. Repeat dose as needed.
HTH

Only an asylum seeker can be in a desperate situation? What an insane conclusion. Housed in a safe country, entitled to free health care education and fed clothed and watered at the expense of tax paying citizens? Trust me there are people much worse off born in the uk

Jc2001 · 17/01/2026 11:01

Yea everything that's wrong with this country is down to asylum seekers 🙄

And boomers

JustMyView13 · 17/01/2026 11:28

How did you know that’s where they are? The biggest issue here is your Dr appears to have no regard for patient confidentiality.
That, or this is an entirely made up story.

I have e mailed MN to ascertain the veracity of this as this thread was hidden. It is not made up. Yes the doctor was indiscreet.

The question is why is an NHS doctor out doing home visits at this place when NHS funds are not supposed to be used?

Quick google tells me that if there is an asylum case lodged, an appeal or refugee status then they are entitled to NHS care so not sure where you got your incorrect information from.

Pigriver · 17/01/2026 11:31

I know the news always focus on hotels full of men but there are full families there too. My school has taken in 15 families all legally brought here by the government resettlement scheme. The dads all worked in the military supporting UK troops.
Obviously these families don't provoke the same rage as as the single men.

It's in everyone's interest that these people get basic medical care and vaccinations.

rainandshine38 · 17/01/2026 11:31

It is bloody goady and racist. Racists have no shame now do they? They ( you) have an open licence to spout this shit due to Farage and Trump.

Shittyyear2025 · 17/01/2026 11:31

The last time I had a home visit from a GP was 35 years ago and I was blue-lighted to hospital for an emergency appendectomy.

My lovely mum ended up with pretty much weekly visits when she was dying with cancer. My dsis is a GP and makes home visits twice a week.

We are a humanitarian species op - are you seriously saying refugees don't deserve medical attention?

Poppingby · 17/01/2026 11:31

How do you know that's where he had been? How are you seeing bags of medicines in the dispensary, do you work there or something or does your GP / dispensary have a real problem with rules around confidentiality? What is that a photo of?

Maybe he was signing someone's death certificate, would that make you happy?

We have an asylum hotel in my village, about a mile from me.

I've only ever seen women and children walking along the road to the shop.

I'm perfectly happy for us to provide healthcare for all human beings.

Because he's working "on the side" during his NHS hours. There were adverts for GP's to do "shifts" at asylum hotels on VERY good money outside the NHS. He should not have been "moonlighting" when he should have been working during his NHS hours.

Not beside us. There's a security sentry box there.

Maddy70 · 17/01/2026 12:43

Are you for real? Of course they need health checks , makes such more sense to have an on-site bulk visit than have everyone go to the surgery abd if you're asking about home visits my mum had one yesterday maybe you need to take of racist blinkers before making daft comments
