Ablondiebutagoody · 14/01/2026 15:43

..... for using fake evidence to justify the ban on Jewish fans from the Aston Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv match last year. When in reality, the threat was towards those fans from local anti-semites and he just couldn't be arsed to protect them.

He will go and the world will move on but I’m afraid the real issue hasn’t even been discussed - the unofficial power that Muslim ‘community leaders’ have in the UK’s second city.

I wish they'd use that power to get our fucking bins emptied and £1 billion accounting system working then.

Kingscallops · 16/01/2026 16:09

Thanks for that brilliant update. I was just about to google further news.

The two issues are hardly mutually exclusive.

No they are just going to have more money thrown at them and at the expense of other councils and their service users. Awarding bad management but Birmingham is just one of the councils who seem to be judged to lower standards.

carpetfluffs · 16/01/2026 16:14

It’s outrageous! We have a senior policeman lying, what message does this send out?

That he wasn't sacked and can retire on a full pension.

5MinuteArgument · 16/01/2026 16:33

So no consequences for him. Meanwhile the consequences for community relations are dire. WMP have showed that they favour the Muslim community and are prepared to throw Jews under the bus.

This won't end well for anyone.

I bet some communiy leaders and MPs are pissed off they have lost one of their many puppets.

carpetfluffs · 16/01/2026 16:44

@Kingscallops its pretty standard though isn’t it? How many police chiefs have been sacked &/or lost their pension?

Brummie here.

I think our Chief Constable made the right decision. Maccabie fans have a reputation for being thugs. They take a pride in it. The team has had to play matches behind closed doors before and most recently the team was given a one match ban by FIFA in December because of the racist chanting of their fans and their Nazi salutes (as reported by Jewish newspaper). I don't want thugs like that coming to the city where I live, chanting their vile slogans - or do the Maccabie apologists here think that chants like "There are no schools in Gaza, as there are no children left" are acceptable in a residential area, where the Villa ground is located, and where children live? Would the Maccabie apologists here find that acceptable around their children?

I don't want thugs who chant a slogan known as "the Maccabie rape song", on the streets of the city where I live making women of all ages and ethnicities feel unsafe.

I reiterate that I support the West Midland Chief Constable's decision to keep the people of Birmingham safe.

Nice to know you support police corruption as long as it suits your point of view. There is NEVER any justification for faking evidence especially in his position.

True. Would this happen in the private sector? I mean the more humble private sector, not the big banking firms etc.

Interesting that @MissMarplesNiecehas never returned to this thread.

Serenity75 · 16/01/2026 16:52

I’m not sure under what legislation that you think that somebody could lose their pension. I’ve worked in the pension industry for years and never heard of anyone losing their public or private pension for any reason. It just isn’t a thing in the UK (unlike in US cop shows).

carpetfluffs · 16/01/2026 16:53

Don't know, maybe only at the very lower staffing levels.

this type of viewpoint from @MissMarplesNiece terrifies me, if something is wrong its wrong regardless of who is involved.

I don’t think he should lose his pension. He’s been a copper since he was 20 and presumably has done some good work. I think Birmingham is rotten and that includes the police and he is just one of many who is kow-towing to the Muslim leaders because they don’t know what else to do. Fearful of claims of racism.

It needs sorting out.

So it's ok for police to lie and not do their job, as long as it aligns with what you want?

5MinuteArgument · 16/01/2026 17:00

The point is that damage has been done to trust in the police. This will further build resentment towards the Muslim community, which is something that Birmingham doesn't need, especially with all the other problems it has.

(I can't believe that our second city is still not getting its rubbish collected).

Maybe the Muslim leaders should take responsibility for
this mess and stop suggesting ‘nothing to see here’.

A very fair point. He should still have been sacked though, by the local PCC.

I dimly remember threats being made to Dr David Kelly about loss of his pension over speaking to a journalist about the Iraq ‘dodgy dossier’. If that threat was made it may well just have been bullying nonsense, of course.

yellowspanner · 16/01/2026 19:28

He's a liar and should have been sacked.
