Saw the spectacle for myself. As a woman in my late 20s I have absolutely no desire to participate in this. Seems like an outdated 2013 “quirky” trend that won’t die. I’m always surprised at the diversity in those who participate - old/young, thin/bigger etc.

Maybe I’m getting older but I really just thought “put it away”

Saw the paps at the St I got off and would be mortified being photographed in my knickers.

Some of the hairy, Casper legs were quite frankly gross!

And for those going on about "but would you think it's acceptable here?"

Different outfits are acceptable in different situations.

You wouldn't rock up to work in your wedding dress (well unless you were a wedding dress model 🤣) but it's entirely appropriate at your wedding

You wouldn't wear your snow suit to the beach or your bikini to the Alps

I wear very similar to these people to watch Rocky Horror (as do a good chunk of the audience) but I wouldn't dress the same to go to the same theatre the week later to see Mousetrap or Mamma Mia or whatever

It's done for the event. They aren't regularly just catching the Tube in their pants

What’s the event?

BunnyLake · 13/01/2026 12:11

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 13/01/2026 11:28

You could say the same about many, many other things too 🤷‍♀️

Oh I do, I do 😂

BIossomtoes · 13/01/2026 12:13

BunnyLake · 13/01/2026 12:09

Professional exhibitionist?

🙄

researchers3 · 13/01/2026 12:17

LoveSandbanks · 12/01/2026 21:45

i suppose it’s relatively harmless but it’s not for me. And why the fuck in January???

it’s better than the naked bike ride!

Amen!

BunnyLake · 13/01/2026 12:18

BIossomtoes · 13/01/2026 12:13

🙄

I thought that deserved more of a 😁 than a 🙄.
😏 😂

BIossomtoes · 13/01/2026 12:04

It’s entirely logical to assume that nobody taking part in this event is at work, isn’t it? If they are, what do you think their job might be?

It would be literally impossible for them to take their trousers in a bag with them and put them on when they got to work.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 13/01/2026 12:29

This thread illustrates perfectly how much MN has changed.

It used to be fun and funny.

Now it's an exercise in who can be offended the most.

Wolfpa · 13/01/2026 12:49

It causes no harm to anyone and will probably be something that they laugh about for years to come.

a story for the children and grandchildren

Exactly. As you say when they got to work, ie they’re not at work while they’re travelling on the tube.

Londonrach1 · 13/01/2026 12:52

They must be cold

What’s the event?

No Trousers Tube Ride

It's literally in the OP

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 13/01/2026 13:01

Its like the naked bike ride thing. Its making people unwilling participants in their exhibitionism.
Also, can you imagine putting your bare skin on a tube seat?

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 13/01/2026 13:02

BIossomtoes · 13/01/2026 12:04

It’s entirely logical to assume that nobody taking part in this event is at work, isn’t it? If they are, what do you think their job might be?

And if they were travelling to work it's entirely possible to put trousers back on before work anyway

Like I said, pointless slop. At least do it for charity.

If you organised an everyone meet at the local park in your underwear for no other reason than being in your underwear, is that really an event?

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 13/01/2026 13:14

BunnyLake · 13/01/2026 13:08

Not offended, no.

Sad that's it's come to this though.

Moonlightdust · 13/01/2026 13:15

Gross.

You're not angry, you're just disappointed?

Growlybear83 · 13/01/2026 13:27

I don’t see a problem with it at all. It’s not something I would do, but it would make me chuckle if I came across them on the tube.

Wordsmithery · 13/01/2026 13:28

I haven't seen this. Is it in the daytime? Because personally I want every possible layer of protection between myself and wandering hands or other body parts during rush hour.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 13/01/2026 13:29

quantumbutterfly · 13/01/2026 13:27

Mostly nostalgic.

Plenty of women do in the summer. Or at least wearing skirts so short that they may as well be. I'm not offended by them either.
