Why come on if you dont like the post?

You can always go and discuss mother in laws/husbands instead.

Because I don’t have either of those things. And usually I would scroll on and ignore but posts like this are just so ridiculous. It’s posts like this that stay fuel shortages and toilet roll shortages.

It’s just forecast to rain near me, haven’t seen a spec of snow this year yet.

Same.

WithIcePlease · 08/01/2026 14:34

Here it was forecasted 16-23 cm of snow at one point yesterday. It has improved since. DH went to a supermarket to get fresh veg and some meat and milk but only normal shopping pulled forward by 24 hours.
he said the shelves were a bit emptier than normal

MannersAreAll · 08/01/2026 14:34

We got our shopping today instead of tomorrow as well. If the snow we are predicted even half hits then the village will be cut off tomorrow. Moved an in person appointment tomorrow to online so I don't have to travel and in case the school is shut.

Also brought the snow shovel in since in the last snow it got buried so wasn't very helpful 😂

NessShaness · 08/01/2026 14:35

I live bang in the middle of where it’s supposed to hit the hardest.

Im off tomorrow, imagine schools will be closed if it snows as forecast so we’ll just hunker down.

Need to nip to the local shop to get more bananas and a loaf of fresh bread but I’d be doing that anyway!

Laserwho · 08/01/2026 14:35

Done the supermarket shop today instead of tomorrow like op. Got extras like bread and milk. We have been warned to not attempt travelling tomorrow so I'm not panicking, I'm being realistic

ChocolatesAndRainbows · 08/01/2026 14:31

ook you do you. But I’m not the one panic buying because it might be a bit snowy.

Doing your weekly shop one day early isn't pánic buying.
Ive bought exactly the same just a day earlier.
Dont fancy de icing the car tomorrow and getting all cold if I dont have too.
Dont fancy slipping over either.

I might panic buy a loaf of bread, just for the heck of it, but the storm isn't coming near my place 😀🍞🛒

Gardening2025 · 08/01/2026 14:35

Nordic poles & Yaktrax of I need to get my elderly parents any groceries. We've had quite enough hospital visits between them!

Alexandra2001 · 08/01/2026 14:36

Yes sleeping in a different bedroom, potential tree could fall on or nr house, was due to be falled 2 weeks ago but the guy couldn't do it due to illness then the ice.

Fingers crossed!

mumonthehill · 08/01/2026 14:36

Well we have already been snowed in at the beginning of the week so yes have made sure we have food and more importantly wine! Definitely will get torches out again just in case but not panicking just being prepared.

MannersAreAll · 08/01/2026 14:36

People who live where this weather is predicted to hit tonight bringing their shopping planned for tomorrow forward to today is absolutely not ridiculous.

It's very much common sense.

RedRiverShore6 · 08/01/2026 14:37

I got some extra milk.

Cherrysoup · 08/01/2026 14:38

We're on the edge of where it may hit. My work has already sent a message saying we may be closed but please to try to get in despite adverse conditions (hmm, ok, but there'll be no kids to teach!)

I didnt buy any loo roll.

Just the normal shop a day early in case I dont feel like going out tomorrow in the cold, snow and ice.

Why travel if you dont have too.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 08/01/2026 14:39

It's due to be wet and blustery on the south coast, nothing more. I've seen a lot worse forecasts!

Whosthetabbynow · 08/01/2026 14:40

SE London. Don’t think we’re getting the brunt of it. Bought an extra loaf in case. Exciting! Love extreme weather (as long as I haven’t got to go out)

Rosamutabilis · 08/01/2026 14:40

I'm right on the edge of a yellow snow warning area. It's pouring with rain and the forecast is for heavy rain all night even though we're technically in the warning area. It's no way cold enough for snow and the sky is rain sky not snow. I would like some snow but we don't get it very often, often have a winter with none at all.

Throwmoneyatit · 08/01/2026 14:41

I live up north. We have stormy weather here lots, so it never makes a difference whether it's named or not 😂

bloomchamp · 08/01/2026 14:42

I’m disabled and today’s been the first day that it’s not too icy to go out on sticks. I went into town with my carer and we picked up some shopping so that if it does snow ,as predicted here, then I’ll be ok for a few days

bobby81 · 08/01/2026 14:43

We live on a hill in the Peak District so when we did the supermarket shop earlier in the week made sure that we’d have enough to last throughout the weekend in case we get snowed in. I won’t drive in bad weather & could technically walk to a shop but don’t fancy it if I don’t have to.
Obviously it depends where you live, there are some people on this thread who perhaps don’t realise what it’s like to live rurally.

YouBelongHere · 08/01/2026 14:43

No snow here yet though the sky looks ready to go at any second!

Not panicking here but like OP I went shopping today so that if the weather is truly bad tomorrow I don't have to go anywhere. Luckily I work from home later in the week anyway so won't have to venture out :)

Am due to go somewhere on the train on Saturday, hoping they'll still run - if not do have ticket protection so won't be the end of the world.

momahoho1 · 08/01/2026 14:43

Grin Every called storm in this country is just a well storm in a teacup. At most it’s going to last a few hours, so if you are down to 5 slices of bread and a dribble of milk best but some but for most people you just wait a few hours at most.

I’ve had flash up BREAKING NEWS on my phone, red warning for SW England but turns out to be just western Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, 3 hours drive away! So no I’m not rushing out, we have food in case but I’ll be going to work as normal by car whatever the weather

GalaxyJam · 08/01/2026 14:43

I have also bought some stuff that I would otherwise have gone to get tomorrow, just in case the roads are bad tomorrow. I don’t know why people are giving you a hard time OP, surely it makes sense to not go out unless you have to when the weather is as forecast?

GinAndJuice99 · 08/01/2026 14:44

No storm forecast here, what region are you in?
