about being back in bed all cosy, now that ds is away back to school in his taxi?
The house is lovely and quiet, and im under the duvet eating a box of heros. Staying here until he arrives home at 3.30 😃

Did you buy OPs chocolates?
Struggling to see how else you’ve funded their day.

Enjoy your day, OP! It’s exhausting having a disabled child 🙂

This ^
i always plan nothing for the first day when DD is back to educational setting. I usually do tidying up but in a relaxed way - the key is to do what I want.

DaisyChain505 · 05/01/2026 11:41

Genuinely curious why you don’t take your child to school yourself if you don’t work?

The child is disabled ,which means in certain circumstances the LA has to provide transport

I will happily fund a parent taking care of their disabled child, take my taxes and give them to parents caring for their child. What most of you pathetic people seem to forget is that the amount a parent receives to be a carer is fucking nothing compared to what it would cost the government to fully fund the care of a disabled child. So which would you prefer?

I have two disabled children. I always took them to school myself. They preferred it and honestly it felt a little uncomfortable to shove them alone into taxis. In our area the local council is buckling financially under the weight of multiple taxis for so many more children with additional needs. Preposterous amounts. If you can, you should take your children to school yourself.

Dies it mske you better to make snippy remarks you have no idea why the Op child needs transport and its not up to you to judge.

In our LA they fit as many as they can in a taxi. My son has always been one of 5 or 6 in a shared taxi to his education setting. And by him being in a taxi, that I pay a parental contribution to of nearly 600 quid a year (yes i know it doesn't cover the costs) it means I am able to get to work every day, and pay tax and NI for all.
OP enjoy your duvet day, I'm very envious

I understand that but even if it’s offered, if you weren’t a working parent why wouldn’t you want to take them to school. That’s where my curiosity is.

Ilovewillow · 05/01/2026 11:49

Quite happy for my tax to pay for a taxi for whatever child needs it. Enjoy your lovely day!

Some ,parents dont drive ,some schools are miles away, some parents have two children at two different schools miles apart that need to be at school at the same time for some its just easier, lots of different reasons

My son has always gone to a special school and always had transport its very different to mainstream, with parents ambling up to the school gates and having a leisurely chit chat ,the school staff for a start are all geared up to get the majority of the children off all the different minibuses, the children all have significant learning disabilities so this can be a challenge, they dont need parents coming to school in dribs and drabs dropping the children off its like a milliary exercise .

If I saw a parent shoving their child, I'd report them.

Terrible way to treat children.
