To think loo roll is not enough

Not the nicest subject in the world -sorry!

I live abroad and bathrooms have bidees (spelling) I don’t use these, but always use wet toilet wipes which are said to be easily disposable here and not harmful to the environment
Since doing this it makes me think how normal loo roll paper is pretty gross and just can’t possibly get you properly clean 😬

I think it’s those who are on keto/very low carb diets that get very messy poos, because they have to drink so much water to avoid constipation.

I’m not sure where you’ve got this from! If someone’s prone to constipation they wouldn’t suffer from ‘messy’ poos at all, and drinking lots of water wouldn’t make them so.

This sounds like a miserable way to live at such a young age.

Have you sought help? There is a lot you can do to improve urge incontinence - you don’t have to put up with it. Unfortunately it’s normalised in our society but it is actually very curable.

Thank you for your kind comments. I did actually seek help about 16 years ago and I was told that I had really good pelvic floor muscles.

Tbh, I’ve just learned to live with it and I know to avoid certain things.
If I want to have a few drinks, I just stick on some pee pants, alcohol is a big irritant 🤣
I got over my embarrassment long ago and my DC just laugh and call me pissy pants 🤣

Who's stupid enough to put tights and plasters down the loo? A simpleton would know you shouldn't. Nappies? That's ridiculous. I do flush lillets down the loo though.

Edited

Then you’re part of the problem - you shouldn’t flush those down the toilet either.

We use a bin for wet wipes.

THEY ARE NOT FLUSHABLE

As I said upthread, we have a septic tank so any blockages would be solely our problem. In the 15 years we’ve been here they’ve flushed just fine! Thanks for your concern though.

Everything I've read says that 'flushable' wipes should not go into the septic tank. I wonder what's different about your wipes and/or tank.

dementedpixie · 05/01/2026 11:53

The wipes marked 'fine to flush' with the toilet logo are supposed to be ok as they dont contain plastic. We still bin them just in case its not true

Have you used a bidet gun on a day like today. 😂
I disable mine in winter and use toilet wipes,

I know I’m a terribly immature person, but first the phrase “bidet gun” made me laugh. Currently freezing in Scotland (snow yesterday) and I thought of using one in winter, and I’ve just got this mental picture of hearing a spray of water, then seeing someone’s horrified face whilst they go, “I’ve frozen my arsehole!” And now I’m laughing like a loon. 😂 I swear, I’m an actual adult, though sometimes for serious adulting, I need an adultier adult for help.

Watch the video up thread. The "fine to flush" logo and standard was abandoned a couple of years ago. Mainly because they could never really be sure as it was a voluntary standard and also they felt that the logo and manufacturers saying "flushable" was confusing.

So now the rule is - don't flush any of them.

What is not normal about using a bar of soap on your body?
I don’t like shower gels etc.
I use dove soap, we all use it in my family. No one in my family likes shower gel.

There is one bar in the shower at a time. It’s used to wash the whole body of everyone who has a shower.
It’s then replaced with a new bar when it’s finished.

I have liquid soap and a bar of soap at the sink for washing hands.

Why are you rubbing a communal item on your body? You should be lathering up your hands and then just using that.

Disturbia81 · 05/01/2026 13:42

Whydontyoujustfuckoff · 05/01/2026 09:24

It’s pissy if either party have been to the bathroom a few times.
Especially with female anatomy, it just lies around on your skin. Not very pleasant.
I prefer to be fresh before anyone goes near my bits.

Exactly! Of course there will be smells there, it’s not a neat place.

I’ve never heard of anything so daft. Soap is designed to be applied directly to the body i.e. rubbed on.

In my 57 years on this planet, I have never heard of or seen anyone use soap in any other way other than to rub it on the body parts being washed.

Shower gel, yes.
And I don’t like it for that reason.

My little sitz bath (portable bidet bowl) is probably the most useful item I've ever bought from Amazon. I've had it at least 10 years now.
I used to use wet toilet wipes but I so much prefer actually washing after using the loo.
When I go on holiday I take Wype with me and keep it in the bathroom. I prefer it to using wet wipes because it's fully flushable.

Soap works just fine either way.

Fernsrus · 05/01/2026 13:56

There is no such thing as a flushable wipe, I think. I spent £400 on plumbing to clear water wipes last year. Never again.

It’s mind-blowing the number of people on here who don’t get this! 🤦‍♀️

I’m not fanatical about washing my bits during the day as it’s not always possible.
However, if I were going for a smear test, examination or going to have a shag, I would very definitely make sure to be freshly washed.

Whydontyoujustfuckoff · 05/01/2026 09:37

You know absolutely FUCK ALL about me!
I have urge incontinence and I regularly piss myself if I can’t get to the bathroom in time.
Satisfied now??

Difference is, I clean myself up. With either a shower or a wash cloth and soap. It’s hardly rocket science, is it?

And you’ve NO IDEA who I’ve cared for.
I have cared for someone with a stoma which regularly burst. And they also had bladder issues.

My comment re a pissy minge was in reference to intimacy but if you’d read my post properly, you’d know that.

You are being deliberately obtuse.

  1. My post wasn’t directed at you.
  2. I actually agree with what you are posting.
  3. No need to be so rude
WhatHoJeeves · 05/01/2026 13:59

Oh good God. Flannel crap and now bum washing crap.

Wash your arse, don't wash your arse, who bloody cares, other than the individual whose arse it is and anyone getting up close and personal.

As I am not a dog I do not go around shoving my nose in people's crotches, so what they do in the privacy of the loo is not of any interest to me!

It would never occur to me to rub soap on my hands then rub my hands on my body when I can just directly rub the soap on my body.

I genuinely don’t get it.

When it comes to washing my nether regions, I like to get a very thorough 🧼 wash by using the bar.

Maybe I’ll try this strange method the next time I’m in the shower 🤣

You’re the one who was initially very rude to me! I was extremely taken aback by your vitriol so I responded in kind.

I apologise if this was a misunderstanding because your post to me was misleading. I have inadvertently replied to the wrong poster before, too.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 05/01/2026 14:26

What. A. Thread. Illness/LTC notwithstanding, I’d be worried about the digestive systems of those of you who can’t get clean without wipes/gels/water jets etc. A healthy diet, full in fibre, low in UPF should mean a “clean break” and minimal wiping required 🤷‍♀️ The bum guns are great but you can still be clean without one!

When I’ve used shower gel, I use the same method as you or I squirt some onto a body puff etc.

I actually really like the smell of lots of shower gels but I just prefer the cleaner (to me) feeling of rubbing bar soap on my body.

(I was asked by MNHQ to name change btw. Which is fair enough. I was in a very bad place when I picked the WDYJFO name 😔)

edited- the name change doesn’t seem to have worked here yet I know I changed it.

I have always lathered up my hands or a flannel, and have never applied the soap directly to my body- I thought that’s what everyone did!

Natsku · 05/01/2026 07:40

And when I changed nappies after my babies had done poos I always held them under the tap to clean their bums, as I was taught in the hospital. Did that until they were too big and wriggly to easily hold under the tap with one hand.

Have never seen that method being taught! Sounds risky and slippery , not to mention unhygienic!

Natsku · 05/01/2026 14:32

I find the soap doesn't lather so well when I try and rub it directly on my body but if I rub it with my hands vigorously it does, or I lather it on a scrubbing glove, though I just go for the hands when I'm having a very quick shower, scrubbing glove is for more thorough showers.
