I’ll start - people who can’t wait to take the tree and decorations down on Boxing Day (or any time during the following very few days) and ‘have a really good clean’.

2nd (this’ll be popular on MN!) - people who don’t like dogs. 🐶❤️

As a dog owner, I observe that people who don't like dogs fall into 2 categories most of the time. 1. They had bad incident with the dog and as a result are scared of dogs.

  1. They don't know much about dogs. They just see them outside as a barking ( noisy), pooping creature. They never had opportunity at depth to see how it is to have a dog

My now deceased ex-MIL used to call magazines 'books'. There was not one single actual book in their house.

She blamed me for her son's affair because I read too many books!

An elderly relative of mine once claimed that the reason his eyesight was so good at his age was because he’d never read a book.

People who say “oh I never have time to read” as though if you do you must be some sort of lazy loser.

People who believe that TWAW…

Trust me, nobody actually believes it really, however fervent their opinion.

SameShitDifferentDate · 01/01/2026 10:49

People who have dirty animals living in their houses with them.

Anyone who posts on these threads, knowing there’s a very good chance that what they write will make another poster feel awful, are genuinely shitty people.

The irony is that - certainly on page one - the only person doing that is you…

Whosthetabbynow · 01/01/2026 10:55

People who penny pinch. People who won’t spend money to do nice things (yes, they can afford it). People who let their kids do what they like in public and sod everyone else. People who don’t drink

Beebopwasthebest · 01/01/2026 11:00

People who throw litter out of their cars.
I just can't comprehend how they think this is a normal thing to do.
Do they not have a bin at home?
Can they not see and feel despondent at the ugly state of our roads?
Why is is so bad to have a wrapper in your car for a short period of time?

MarriedWithCauldron · 01/01/2026 11:26

What I call “Option three” people. People who will always want a third option they weren’t offered or which isn’t available if you give them two choices.

On a similar note, people who refuse to make a choice because there are potential flaws in both options. The Christmas decorations example in the OP reminded me of this. A friend years ago was whinging on Facebook on 27 December that she was really sick of the Christmas decorations and wanted them gone, but her daughter would be upset if she took them down. She got a couple of “Take them down, u do whats right 4 u hon” responses. “But Milly will be upset though!!”, she wailed. So I said “Just leave them up - it’s only a few days and it’s better than upsetting your daughter.” “But I really want them gone though!! They’re stressing me out!! 😩😩”

What the bloody hell do people like that want? She could either take the decorations down or leave them up - there was no other alternative. What did she expect anyone to advise?!

women who rip all their clothes off in march when the sun peaks out from behind a cloud.

Adults who love Disney. I think they’re from another planet full of thickos

Absolutely no need for this nastiness.
What is wrong with people?

Alderraymyheartisindanger · 01/01/2026 12:07

Rangers FC fans.

TheaBrandt1 · 01/01/2026 12:29

One of the cleverest women I know is an ardent Disney fan. A professor! The opposite of thick! She’s fab.

Sorry but did laugh at being accused by your MIL of being at fault for your DH affair because you read too many books! Good riddance!

I went up to the Pergola Gardens in Hampstead in March when it was the first sunny/warmish day of the year. Some dude was sitting across from me on the grass with his shirt off. I look forward to summer as much as the next person, but you can’t make it happen by sheer force of will!

Yes I am similarly bemused by people who get shorts and skimpy tops out the moment there is a hint of warmth in the early SPRING (not summer) sunshine.

Not only that they don't want to pay to check in a bag, they might not need to. We went on a city break for 4 nights & I fitted in everything in a larger cabin bag. It still cost about £50 for both flights but slightly cheaper than checking a bag in & we didn't have to wait for our bags the other end

There are very good reasons not to check in bags - not wanting to pay, not wanting to hang around at the other end while they condescend to get the bags off the plane and not wanting to lose their bags and spend the first day or two of a holiday without their things.

Airlines moan about the size of the "cabin" bags, but maybe they could work with ground crew to make sure bags come off quickly and don't go missing.

People who drive everywhere

My neighbours are like this. I have never ever seen them leave their house on foot or on a bike! And they have a dog. They go off in the car to walk it. And you can easily walk a dog from our doorsteps - there are parks and green spaces within 5-10 minutes walk.

That really does depend on your background though. I did A levels in 1982, oldest child, and there was absolutely an expectation from my parents and wider family and schools that my siblings and I would go to university. I don't recall that there was ever a thought or suggestion that we wouldn't.

But my parents, aunts and uncles had all gone themselves in the fifties so it would have been strange if their children hadn't.

Out of my sixth form only a tiny handful didn't go, I remember one very religious girl got married, another went to finishing school and another became an upmarket nanny. Everyone else went to university.

Same here but I went to a grammar school. I suspect the expectations were a little different in comprehensives or secondary moderns.

People who post absolutely everything they do to Facebook - meals out, simple get togethers for coffee, even hospital visits. When on holiday there are 3+ posts a day. Are these people ever present in the moment?

When Charles doesn't believe that I'm really very ill.

When people assume I'm not a good walker.

When your mother in law gives your children too much cake….

Yes - it literally takes seconds to take a photo and upload, and then put your phone away in your pocket to enjoy "being in the moment" for the rest of the day.

But there are multiple posts every hour they’re on holiday! I get that there are some people (and I’m guessing you might be one of them) who take a picture, upload, and then move on but I’m talking about people who are posting every hour multiple pictures of every single moment.

These people are also incredibly self-obsessed. Why do they think anyone really cares about what they eat in a restaurant or where they go for a walk, because no one actually does.

I usually post some photos as memories for me to look back on, I couldn't give a shit if others want to see my dinner or walk through the park or not 😁
There's always the option of scrolling by, it's called social media in my eyes.
Which brings me onto something else that's alien to me - people who use social media like FB but don't like seeing any updates from friends, or bitch or moan/get jealous etc.
Just mute them and save your sanity/inner peace

Elsvieta · 01/01/2026 15:44

People who would rather have a terrible relationship than none. Women who pander to waste-of-space men (not necessarily partners). People who can't bear solitude.

People who don't read.

People who couldn't contemplate not going out on New Year's Eve.

People who can't seem to bear a bit of peace and seem compelled to manufacture a bit of drama as soon as they have any.
