People who feel completely alien to you…

I’ll start - people who can’t wait to take the tree and decorations down on Boxing Day (or any time during the following very few days) and ‘have a really good clean’.

2nd (this’ll be popular on MN!) - people who don’t like dogs. 🐶❤️

There’s a thread on here about wealth management and people with savings of over a million. I am sure these people are perfectly nice and I have just remembered that I have distant relatives who are wealthy as a result of forming their own business.

Not alien, exactly, but a parallel universe.

How about people with an ornament saying

soak

in the bathroom ?

I went into a bathroom ... And it had poo and wee spelt out in letters ... On their bedroom door was a shag sign😂

Omg 😭😭😭

People who believe we should continue welcoming as many migrants who want to come to the UK and there is no threat at all from all the young men coming over on small boats who are from a completely different culture and we no nothing about. People who think Kier Starmer will sort this problem out.

HonestGoldAnt · 31/12/2025 21:11

Very loud , shrieky, brash, "I'm mad,me", "I'm proper quirky and wild, me" people. Pipe down, alien.

Alloveragain44 · 31/12/2025 21:19

People who vote Reform are an abomination to me not just alien. Grown adults who have reborn dolls.

EsmeSusanOgg · 31/12/2025 21:25

I do like to book some things in - mostly to plan around kids school and save money. But I do not count down the days. Well, not until I am a lot closer to the actual break. I also work a role which requires some sort of cover/ on call rota every day of the year.

I do not understand rushing for Christmas, then rushing to end Christmas. I would more understand someone either not doing much - or having lights and decs up extra long. Not a criticism, I just do not understand it.

KTheGrey · 31/12/2025 21:30

People who never go to the cinema, ever.

People who care passionately about sport INSTEAD of going to the cinema.

I am describing my family, of course.

itstooorangeyforcrows · 31/12/2025 14:01

People who think any Tory PM in history has ever been good for the country.

Disraeli? Churchill? Just putting them out there; I couldn’t actually tell you.

Echobelly · 30/12/2025 16:29

People who build their image and lifestyle around what 'influencers' do
People who want to visit or live in Dubai
People who are really invested in watching a sport (I mean, I understand it in an abstract way, but it's so not for me)
People who don't seem to understand why they should care about anyone other than themselves and their loved ones

We are on the same wavelength

PurpleFlower1983 · 31/12/2025 21:37

People who find Mrs Brown’s Boys funny, I know lots do, I just don’t get it!

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 31/12/2025 21:39

People women who scream, jump up and down and flap when excited about something, or when scared of something.

Which leads me to people who have phobias and act like a complete twat because a spider/moth/mouse/bee dared to be alive in their vicinity.

Women whose husbands pay for everything, and I don't mean SAHMs, I mean women who work but get to keep their whole wage because it's "pocket money". These women often have no idea of their own household's running costs and I feel that really alien.

People who don't like animals/dogs.

People who let their children run riot in places like restaurants.

There are people who have H O M E on the walls of their living rooms. Presumably they’re worried that they might forget where they are

dynamiccactus · 30/12/2025 21:36

Just thought of another - though they're not alien, they're just scrotes.

People who throw their litter out of the car instead of taking it home/to a bin.

No - scrotes for sure but also aliens. I mean WHY?

TinselTarts · 31/12/2025 22:50

People who do cryptic New Years Eve posts on FB about the past year ‘we’ve had a very hard time in February, March nearly ended in tragedy, but then in May we had amazing news and even found out an old family secret’. Either way what these events/news were or fuck off!

people who don’t like cleaning

People who DO like cleaning 😭 it's so boring and monotonous and it never goes away, ever.

I don't understand why people like it.

StarsTwinklingPomanders · 31/12/2025 22:58

@GreenPoms that can be said if many MN threads

I do love it, it gives me a buzz, like a bit of a high, gets the endorphins going and the blood pumping, it’s instant gratification seeing things clean and tidy

thepariscrimefiles · 01/01/2026 09:41

Ardent monarchists

HelpMeGetThrough · 01/01/2026 09:54

People who stayed awake to see in the New Year. I was snoring my head off on the settee by about 8pm and bugger all wine was involved.

Staying awake seems to have left the building as far as I’m concerned.

People who never ever eat out or order a takeaway.

Yeah...people with restrictive diets because of health are "so 👽"..... 🤦

People who can't stand spending time with their children, genuinely don't get it.

I am not talking about child-free evening out, or holidays when parents/ partner can babysit, god no. That's not even a luxury, I am the first to book my tickets 😂

But parents who try to get rid of their kids as much as they can: rudely try to dump them at any birthday party and run away, never attend their clubs to see them practicing their sport or hobby , people who hate going on holiday with their kids, all these, people who have no interest in their kid. The worst, the ones who prefer doing house chores than seeing their kids in sports event.

Each to their own, but it's properly alien to me. What's the point, if they absolutely have no interest in them at all?

Maybe you misinterprete their reasoning?. I gladly accept any invitation for my 13 years old. I sent him to summer camps etc. Why? Because it is an opportunity for him to play with real kids, gain social interaction sith the living humans. Otherwise, he is glued into the monitor.
Yes, I do go out with him too but I find his time with other kids a valuable time for him

Ooh I've just thought of one that baffled me years ago. People that have "never read a book"

I was SHOCKED when I discovered, in my young adulthood, that there are people who have never read a book.

And I don't mean they're not readers, that they are not really into reading, I mean they've NEVER read a book from cover to cover, like EVER.

I thought reading books was just a thing that people did to pass the time, exactly the same as watching something on TV or seeing a film. It was honestly like someone saying "I've never watched TV".

And then what baffled me further is that people took my shock as condescending because reading (reading anything) is, to some people seen as some sort of high brow pursuit and they thought I was looking down on them by being so surprised and spluttering "you must have done!"

I'm still not sure I truly believe it.

My now deceased ex-MIL used to call magazines 'books'. There was not one single actual book in their house.

She blamed me for her son's affair because I read too many books!

Fluffydogonmylap · 01/01/2026 10:21

People who live in empty grey houses. No lamps, cushions, rugs or colour. TV high up on the wall, furniture arranged like a corridor. I just couldn't live like that. Don't understand it.
