Peri peri menopausal.

AIBU to think this is a great joke? My partner came up with it this morning and isn't as proud of it as I think he should be.

YANBU - it's hilarious
YABU - it's only worthy of a cheap Christmas cracker

Can't we have a laugh about ourselves?

Its just a silly play on words, its not the funniest joke in the world but I'm not finding it offensive.either.

Jamesblonde2 · 30/12/2025 12:08

Some people on here don’t have a sense of humour.

Chiaseedling · 30/12/2025 12:09

I’m not offended and I’m menopausal! Dh and I are always making silly jokes about each others ‘issues’ - and I’ve got them in spades.
Some people on here need to calm the fuck down and get a sense of humour!

Xmasbaby11 · 30/12/2025 12:10

May be funnier when delivered well but didn’t even make me smile reading it.

AhBiscuits · 30/12/2025 12:12

I'm a middle aged and peri menopausal woman. What am I supposed to be offended about?

Replies once again proving that what everyone else says about Mumsnet is true 🤭

It's a Christmas cracker joke for sure, OP - funny, but not as funny as watching the outraged (dare I say peri menopausal? 🤭) women racing to condemn him, and you, and men in general.

Where on earth have you found this thread is condemning men in general? Bit of an overreach.
It's a bit dull OP. I wouldn't be outraged 🥱 more question my dp's ability to make me laugh which he's normally very good at.
I like the Peri-peri-neum joke above though! No need to preface with "what do you call a middle aged woman" to be funny.

omggggggg · 30/12/2025 12:13

Bless, at least you find him funny

Mumof2wifeof1crazytimes · 30/12/2025 12:13

This fits me, I often go to Nando’s, I am a middle aged and peri menopausal woman, not seeing the offensiveness of this joke …. 🤔

I'm peri and I don't really find it funny but only in that there's no twist or double meaning. I don't get offended at peri jokes. They keep me sane! Not so much when men tell them but I still don't take offence.

Eyeshadow · 30/12/2025 12:25

I don’t think it’s offensive - I can’t see it being misogynistic or ageist.

But it’s just a bit of a shit joke.

I definitely don’t find it funny 1 bit but I am assuming you and your DH have similar sense of humours if you both find it hilarious.

I don’t think it’s funny enough to be in a cracker, sorry.

According to Google is a joke by British comedian Gary Delaney.

Does that mean the OP is Sarah Millican?

TeenLifeMum · 30/12/2025 12:27

We had this in a cracker over Christmas

SatsumaDog · 30/12/2025 12:28

Not offensive, just a shit joke.

You should send it in to the adam buxton podcast

Yes.

LeftieRightsHoarder · 30/12/2025 12:35

Oh dear. If this mildly humorous joke causes so much outrage, I dread to think of the waves of rage that must have crashed over PPs’ dinner tables when the Christmas cracker jokes were read out!

Splendidlydidy · 30/12/2025 12:36

It’s not funny at all and quite disgusting.

pambeesleyhalpert · 30/12/2025 12:37

gah I voted the wrong way!! It’s brilliant OP!

Ahh seriously cop yourself on.

Indianajet · 30/12/2025 12:38

Just a rubbish joke.

Elsvieta · 30/12/2025 12:38

Plenty good enough for a cracker. If someone started a brand of crackers that ONLY have menopause jokes, I'd buy.

stitchy · 30/12/2025 12:40

It's lame and obvious.
So much so that we've done the same joke in our family before now. Not offensive though, just a bit shit.

Splendidlydidy · 30/12/2025 12:41

Yeah let’s all applaud a man making fun of a woman.

I thought we’d moved on from that sort of ‘joke’.

The worst crime though, is it’s not remotely funny.

JamieCannister · 30/12/2025 12:41

Screamingabdabz · 30/12/2025 11:44

LTB.

To be fair, that was a lot funnier that OP's husband's joke
