My house is haunted advice please

Husband - 32 and an absolute scientist non believer
me also 32 and whilst a bit more open minded also a non believer

So my husband has been saying for months he thought I was on the landing and then found our no I wasn’t.. he saw a shadow on the upstairs landing and looked up to discover I was downstairs

didnt think much until both children were on my bed and then one of the picture hooks on a picture rail pinged onto the floor of its own accord the other morning now while it freaked me out.:: I didn’t think much and rationalised a mouse ./////

again didn't think much of it until the baby was crying this afternoon and I saw with my own eyes the outline of a man walk across the landing (looked like a shadow)

then this evening the lights (dimmer switch) were switching on and of and this happened about 20 times

not sure what to think

When I bought my small house three years ago I had a lot of weird events happening. I constantly felt like I was being watched and that there was someone else in the house. I had also had stuff falling off randomly and craking noises on the stairs . I had endless problem with the house in term if unexpected repairs and I was even thinking of putting it back on sale.

When I finally moved in after working on it for two months I researched ghosts and read the suggestion to quietly seat down in a room, relax and clearly tell the ghosties that this is my house and I will not tolerate any nonsense or aggression but that they are welcome to stay. I also burned some sage in all the rooms. After that things got better and touch wood I have been happy here so far.

I know it sounds odd but I think the house was just pissed off because before me there was a dodgy couple living there and a series of previous owners who had failed to maintain it. But when it became clear that I was here to stay and only wanted to make it better things turned around.

Sometimes you need to leave you cynism at the door and be more open minded :).

So there are ways to live happily with your resident ghosts if this is what is happening!

I suppose you’re putting me in that category although I don’t scoff. And no, I don’t think I know everything-but I am happy not to know. I have no need to provide paranormal explanations because I know a rational, scientifically sound explanation will come along in time.
