When one of the Dead Ringers did an impression of Keir Starmer on the RVP tonight there was alot of booing.
ITV kept it in too.
How embarrassing for Starmer.

Says alot though about what people think of Starmer.😀

I would imagine that 50% of the booing was because Starmer’s in power, i.e. just because he’s the incumbent. But he is truly loathed. And how!

The amusing thing is the left’s comical reaction. “How dare these people boo a Labour person. We’re all morally spotless and generally lovely because we’re left-wing!

No Labour supporter will ever accept that their heroes can be shitty, self-important, arrogant, incompetent wankers. The left is a giant cult: no doubt or criticism allowed; it’s a virtuous life being left-wing; it’s beyond ridicule or reproach. 🙄

Newsflash: being left-wing doesn’t make you better, kinder, more capable or more humane than anyone else. Get over it.

Calm down dear!

Serious question - what’s a ‘flag shagger’?

It’s referring to the people putting up England flags (often from Temu - the irony) outside their homes and around their local neighbourhoods as a sign of nationalism. It was started by a delightful chap known as Andrew Saxon who has links to far right groups. It was called ‘Operation raise the colours’
The only good to come out of it is we now know who all the racists are in our local neighbourhoods. We refer to them as ‘flag shaggers’

Parsley4321 · 22/12/2025 13:00

@GreenGrass555 let’s hope you’re right we see it differently

Boris was and still is worse.

Is Boris still PM?

Thanks, sorry a follow up question - who is ‘we’?

Must confess, I am still not clear as to why the ‘shaggers’ though - I would understand ‘flag raisers’…

I have heard more negative Keir Starmer chants, booing etc at various events (Football, boxing) than any other PM. Including Thatcher.

You made a mental note of a comprehensive catalogue of public events in history and crowd responses to the PM of the time? Sounds more like confirmation bias to me.

Looking at the audience, most looked very wealthy!

Probably many of them have worked hard to get where they are and are wondering why the fuck they bothered 🤔

With respect, I don’t have time for the faux naivety. I think you can work out why people against racism might use a derogatory term to describe these people.

Or maybe they are hoping Farage will get in so that he can drop the facade of playing the working class hero, cut taxes for the wealthy (like his mate Tice), sell off the NHS to his mate Trump and drop the minimum wage.

I genuinely can't remember a PM being named in chants at sport events prior to Starmer. Which isn't to say it didn't happen.

OneDearWasp · 22/12/2025 14:10

I really can't get my head around people using words like hate, loathe, traitor or despise when referring to Starmer.
I think I'd reserve hatred for a few people like Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Putin etc.

Booing a politicians mention is not at all unusual.

Chelsea fans sang "Boris Johnson is a c*, he likes to have a party" regarding lockdown gatherings.

"Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, Out, Out, Out!"

"Maggie's dead, dead, dead" "Let's all do the conga, Maggie is no longer".and "Margaret Thatcher's dead, and now we're going to party". Liverpool supporters, following her death in 2013.

Well it is as you’ve missed jobs and businesses out which is pretty crucial, you won’t last long paying for stuff as they drop.

As said if Labour really do have the same blind spot on that then it’s a major issue.

As I said, my list was a post on MN and wasn't meant to be exhaustive, but since you ask -

  • £1 billion for the British Business Bank to enhance access to finance for smaller businesses through Start Up Loans, the ENABLE Build, the Growth Guarantee Scheme and the Life Sciences Investment Programme.
  • Capped the corporation tax at 25% for the current parliamentary term, the lowest in the G7.
  • Reforming the business rates system, which provides up to 40% off rates for around 250,000 small businesses.
  • introducing a new Business Growth Service, making it easier and quicker for SMEs to find government advice and support all under one roof , streamlining the government’s offer to small firms, saving them time and money.
  • Trade Strategy helping small businesses become “export ready”.
  • Tackling retail crime via new funding for prevention and police training, as well as ending the Tory policy that meant stolen goods worth under £200 weren’t investigated.
  • Freezing fuel duty to reduce costs.

Its neither here not there what I think.

It just shows how much hate there is out there for the real Keir Starmer.

Good attempt at slagging Starmer but since when was a partisan crowd indicative of support or not?

Corbyn at Glastonbury didn't translate to a GE win...

There is a determined effort to drive hatred towards Labour, with the media thinking that this will put the Tories back in power, might have worked a decade or two ago but now all it will lead to is a Farage led Government.

Upstartled · 22/12/2025 14:33

Starmer is strikingly unpopular. His favouribility ratings look like like a black run at a ski resort since he became PM.

Yet when asked "who would make the best PM? Starmer, Farage or Badenoch.

Starmer led Farage by some margin and only recently has Farage got closer, with Badenoch no where.

Great. It still glosses over SMEs, hospitality and graduate jobs.

Plus going back to op even if some don’t mind Starmer being booed Labour will take more notice of losing votes next May.

People want someone to blame on how shit life has got for them. Problem is there is no critical thinking anymore, or a way of seeing the bigger picture. Collectively, people are thick.

Remember people rang the police when KFC ran out of chicken..

Well yeh. If policies impact you, whether it’s jobs or livelihoods then it’s Labour in power. Some feel immune, not sure why but most can see how badly they’re doing.

It's really clear that no amount of action is going to satisfy you.
I've tried to give a snap shot to no avail.

The list of actions is really impressive, especially against that of the previous incumbants.

Lot's more info available here for people actually interested in what is being achieved. https://whathaskeirdone.co.uk/

This is what Keir Starmer has done for you so far

The Tories presided over 14 years of decline, undermined our public services, and wrecked our economy. Keir Starmer's Labour Government is getting on with the job, fixing the foundations of our country and delivering the long-term change Britain needs.

Job figures are blunt, no amount of SM messaging will help there. Labour do seem to put everything out bar look at that.

Have you read anything I've posted about what is being done for business?

Additionally, improved workers rights and employment protection make life much better for those in employment.
