Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

I don't hate all men or think the majority are depraved lazy abusive perverts. I don't care about porn and I think my partner's masturbatory habits, provided they don't impact our sex life, are none of my business.

I don't think the mental load is the massive deal the internet would lead us to believe.

I don't like co-sleeping. I formula fed and my kids were in their own bedrooms as soon as they outgrew their Next-to-Me cot. I let my cats outside.

I work hard to maintain a good relationship with my in-laws even when they are difficult because my own family are very important to me and because I want my kids to have good relationships with both sides. I don't take offence where none is meant and I appreciate sometimes people can say things that are blunt or rude without having any actual ill intent.

Agree with all of these

Agree with all of these

Totally agree

I practice Tantric sex

I've had at least one affair every year

I think kids should leave home and school at 16 and get a job

FastFood · 16/12/2025 12:40

I take my dog to friends and family

KittyFinlay · 16/12/2025 12:40

I let my 5 yo out to play unsupervised.
She doesn't go to sleep before 9pm.
I don't regulate her screentime (except not at bedtime or mealtimes).
I drink alcohol around my daughter.
We eat UPFs.
I never lock my door when I'm in during the daytime.
I let anyone who asks use my toilet.

Eastie77Returns · 16/12/2025 12:42

Have no issue with the fact DP has female friends and goes to lunch with female colleagues.

Change my bedding very infrequently.

I don’t think a man with a successful career married to a SAHM owes all his success to his wife and she should be entitled to access all his money forevermore.

Never organised birthday parties for DC. We’ve always taken them out for meals etc to celebrate but I simply cannot be bothered with parties.

Countesdracula · 16/12/2025 12:43

Got pregnant at 15 on purpose and didn’t abort.
Use a toilet brush
occasionally buy lunch from greggs

RanyaJerodung · 16/12/2025 12:44

I have had my adult DC live with me, and not charged them rent.

MargoLivebetter · 16/12/2025 12:44

Let DD have her dummy until she was 5! She is mid 20s now and I don't think anyone would know ;-)

Left the DC home alone when they were still at primary school. I didn't go to Saint Tropez or anything but even a 15 minute pop to the shop is deeply disapproval worthy.

Made the DC go to school when they were a bit poorly and told them to take those paracetamol melt things without telling the teachers because I had to go to work.

Did the DCs homework for them when they were small and tired and none of us (particularly me) had any more fucks to give. I don't think it held them back - they are graduates with jobs.

Gave store bought cakes to the school cake sales.

Don't track anyone at all on the various phone tracking devices. Never tracked the DC ever.

Allow whoever wants to to wear shoes in my house.

Swear lots and don't think that sweariness shows a lack of culture or intelligence.

justpassmethemouse · 16/12/2025 12:44

I asked my mum to catsit!

I spend quite a lot of money! We’ve always done this and plenty left over! Can’t do frugal.

NimbleHiker · 16/12/2025 12:46

I like a glass of wine. I never iron. I don't eat every meal at the table.

Oh I drink alcohol around my DC and have several glasses a week.

According to MN folklore this means I am a) an alcoholic and b) the worst kind of mother because you should never drink when home with children - you might have to drive them A&E.

JudgeBread · 16/12/2025 12:50

I don't hate men and think they're all lying, cheating scumbags.

I drink quite a lot of wine.

I don't actually mind Bayliss and Harding.

I have been on and enjoyed an all inclusive package holiday.

I have a dog, I love her, she's part of my family and I let her sleep in my bed.

A chicken would not last my family a week. It wouldn't last a day.

I have no desire to wear a shapeless colourful sack to my events.

I am size Walmart.

I do not have a penis beaker.

I've taken mine to McDonald's!

SouthLondonMum22 · 16/12/2025 12:53

Where do I start?

I formula fed from birth
I had a short maternity leave by choice and put my babies in nursery full time
I have never and will never co-sleep
I sleep trained
They were in their own room by 8 weeks old
My 3 year old has his own Ipad
My 1 year old twins know what chocolate is

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 16/12/2025 12:53

I'm not married to DP
I forgave an infidelity
My children sleep in my bed regularly (one is year 7)
I tell my kids some food is bad and some food is good (because it's true)
I used to take drugs and I don't regret it

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 16/12/2025 12:54

I like getting getting drunk
I think hotel chocolat is nice
I'm 5 minutes late for pretty much everything
I probably go at least a month in between washing my bed sheets
I work full time even though I don't have to, because I like it
I don't believe that men 'don't see mess' or can't care for newborns in the same way as their mother can (bar breastfeeding)
I don't care if a he wants to be referred to as a she or wants to dress as a woman (access to single sex spaces is my line)

HelpMeGetThrough · 16/12/2025 12:54

Has a child free wedding.
A couple of people kicked off like some suggest to do on here, so they were told they were welcome not to come.

BashfulClam · 16/12/2025 12:55

I have loo brushes, I use a towel for at least a week before getting fresh one as it’s only used to dry water from a clean body, I eloped and didn’t have any family at my wedding, I changed my name to my husbands nicer surname and use the title ‘Mrs’, I wash my hair every day(there was a big post about that one), I don’t have a bathroom bin, I don’t iron anything unless it really needs it…

As new babies, dds were BFed 4 hourly - 6, 10, 2, 6, 10, 2.

It generally worked very well.

They both slept in cots in their own rooms from the time they came home from the hospital - in those days a 7 day stay for dd1, 4 for dd2.

I have loo brushes in all 3 loos.

When we had a dog I used to let her lick plates/dishes/roasting tins etc. - before they went in the dishwasher.
DDog often slept on our bed.

I change bedsheets etc, only when it occurs to me that it’s probably high time I did it.

We are and have always have been, a shoes-on house (except when wet or muddy, obviously)

Parenting
Don't regulate screen time. He has always done well at school/college - on track for triple distinction - he has friends, goes out, does his chores, has a part-time job...

Paid pocket money as an allowance, not against a list of chores. We don't get paid to do chores. We do them because we are responsible humans.

Swearing has always been fine if at objects or situations, but never at people.

Never set a bedtime. He has never had a problem getting up in the morning, if he's tired because he stayed up too late, that's a life lesson and as long as he doesn't take it out on everyone else, all good, For that matter, he's never had a curfew. He has always told me what time he will be home, he tells me if he's going to be late, he tells me if he is moving from one location to another...

Never had baby gates on the stairs or plug protectors. Taught him how to get down the stairs safely as soon as he could crawl (my childminder did this in fairness - genius move).

Co-slept until he was 6.

Life
I have two loo brushes

I don't think trans women are evil
