To think we should ban the term ‘globalise the intifada’

After the terrorist attacks in Manchester and now Bondi, I struggle to see how this term is anything other than a call to violence against Jews. We should be cracking down on it, in the same way we do other hate and violence inciting speech.

Same here. Does it need banning?

I would go as far as banning the marches. For all the trouble they cause, alarm and distress and the police resources. Two years of this on the streets. That includes, that vile chant.

That would render the Government as authoritarian. The UK would cease being a free society with right to protest.

You're absolutely right but I think these circumstances are exceptional. At the very least more restrictions should be placed. A ban on Face masks/coverings, for instance could be imposed. The time has come for freedom of expression, in these demos, to be curtailed when they cannot adhere to common decency and the law. There's going to be many more arrests. Far better to be more proactive.

Bringemout · 19/12/2025 07:45

I think it’s clear what they mean by “globalise the intifada”. It’s a call to violence despite mealy mouthed semantics. Ban it, we need to take a much more muscular approach to this shit. We already had the Manchester attack, as an ethnic minority myself I fully support the Jewish communities right to not live under the constant threat of intimidation and violence. The sheer level of antisemitism thats come out of the woodwork sickens me.

So you just want partial authoritarianism ?

There is a potential major issue. If the Guv curtailed pro Palestine demonstrations, then it would have to do the same for pro Isreal too. Because if it did not do that, then it would be making clear that the Government is taking a pro Isreal stance. That would be fair enough in a way, the Government can take what stance it wants, but then any pro Palestine demo, with mass arrests etc, would effectively be the government arresting protestors for holding what could be construed to be an anti government protest.

If you see what I mean?

And that would be authoritarian.

And of course, banning masks could be seen as being ableism ? Immune compromised would maybe feel excluded.

It's a can of worms for sure.

For the folk on here that said "globalise the intifada" probably already fits within UK hate crime law in some contexts, you were correct.

No need to ban it.

Two arrested after shouting 'intifada' slogans, police say | UK News | Sky News

Wasn’t that after the police update?

HellsBalls · 19/12/2025 08:05

They wear the face masks to mimic Hamas.
Should be banned.

It's the Police using existing laws. I expect the courts will decide if the law applies.

I think Israel has been treated appallingy, not to mention Eurovision liberal elite participates threatening to pull out. Awful.

You think the country committing genocide have been treated badly because people dont want to let them join in the Eurovision song contest? I have heard everything now.

hufngids · 15/12/2025 19:39

I haven’t seen this term anywhere. Where is it being used?

I've seen a few people on the pally protests wearing leather jackets with that statement on the back. It's disgusting.

Arrests have already been made so even if some haven’t seen it it is being used.

Anyone who hasn't seen that phrase being used just isn't paying attention. All you have to do is google it and you'll find plenty of examples. It's fine not to pay attention to everything, but it's not okay to comment about how you haven't seen it so it's not true without doing the absolute bare minimum to check you aren't talking nonsense.

It's a disgusting thing to say and I hope for many more arrests.

Isn't paying attention or being disingenuous?

I'd like to think it's stupidity and not lying. Honestly there are probably loads of things that happen all over the world that I know nothing about - I know a lot about this as it's personally relevant. But I have no idea what is happening in most of the world and it's impossible to keep up on everything. So if someone isn't Jewish and isn't a bigoted hate marcher and isn't living in a city and isn't reading this page of the BBC then they might well not know an awful lot about it. But then ideally they just don't talk about it as they just sound stupid. I don't weigh in on many other topics as I really don't know enough.

@Dideon I think most people decry Orthodox Jews, given their views on women and homosexuality. It’s estimated that there are fewer than 2 million in the entire world though so they are not a significant issue.

If I hadn't heard or seen the slogan, I would be adding nothing to the discussion, by expressing my observation or lack of. That's because of its severity and infamousy. It's almost a form of gaslighting.

As far as I'm aware, pro Israel protests haven't been full of terrorist flags, overtly racist slogans, or calls to murder other people. I also haven't heard of any incidents where they've tried to physically attack people with opposing opinions. I would have thought any of these actions would be enough to stop the marches. Not to mention they have been going on for years now, costing us an absolute fortune when we keep being told the country has no money.

The protests are entirely negative, there is literally no positive benefit to them either here or abroad. At this point they must surely have realised they aren't influencing the war, other than possibly empowering hamas by convincing them they have global support. So why keep marching, when they know they're not going to actually change anything, and when they know how distressing people find them?

I have a strong feeling that if it were bigots on the other side marching against immigration every weekend for example, with slogans like "globalise the resistance!" and "from Portugal to Poland, Europe will be free!", we would have figured out a way to stop them long ago, however much they complained about authoritarianism.

Millions of people from all different backgrounds have marched through out the world against the genocide in Palestine. Most of them have probably never been on a March in their lives. Please do not be so disrespectful as to make out that these marchers are all violent Jew hating individuals.
