To think we should ban the term ‘globalise the intifada’

After the terrorist attacks in Manchester and now Bondi, I struggle to see how this term is anything other than a call to violence against Jews. We should be cracking down on it, in the same way we do other hate and violence inciting speech.

It's not a laughing matter.

Wow that's awful. To decent people, he's a hero.

Looks like some more jihadis decided to kill more Jews and their supporters at the memorial service, fortunately stopped in time:

It's relentless. Good work from police and whoever uploaded that video. It's good to see evil being prevented.

It's really good that it was, but the worry is that there's always another potential terrorist. What's frustrating is it's not even like they've been hiding it, but apparently there is no bridge too far that would get you deported from a Western country, which is what is needed at this point.

*Before anyone starts, I'm talking specifically about people on terrorist watchlists.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/12/2025 11:10

Yeah, over the last few days several of my Jewish friends have posted pictures of gatherings at lightings of big Chanukiahs and it’s sobering how easy it would be for someone to do a repeat, all they need is a gun and to not care if they end up dead themselves, there probably can’t be a ring of steel around every Jewish religious or memorial gathering. 🙁

I'm talking about all of them.

Then we won't have the risk at all.

It’s very hard to ignore the threat, as much as people haven’t wanted to acknowledge or let others speak about it so far.

It's hard to ignore it now we have to have Christmas markets guarded by the bollards of peace and manned by armed police just to buy some overpriced hot chocolate and knitted goods.

This isn't just in the UK. It's all over Germany, Australia, etc. It's everywhere where these bollards are erected. Birmingham council has just put up some more diversity bollards (and I will mock them endlessly) but not named why we need them.

This is what happens when you don't protect your borders. You then have to protect everything else inside the borders which is impossible.

I'm terrified we're going to have an attack here soon. Apparently, 900 extremists are thought to be plotting potential attacks on schools and other attacks.

Yet, only a handful of MP's had the decency to sign Rupert Lowe's motion to handle the risk of Islamic extremism. A handful. It's shameful.

If an attack happens here, I'll await the usual garbage to be trotted out-"diversity is our strength," "it's part and parcel of living in a big city" (Sadiq Khan trotted that stinker out) "don't look back in anger," and "peace and love, don't let hate divide us."

Then they'll bring in completely useless restrictions on our lives which won't keep us safe but limit what we can say and what we can use to protect ourselves. Soon, they'll run clean out of ideas so they'll ban all knives, including cutlery and we'll be eating with our bare hands and driving toy cars around. Which I suppose assists with the plans for net zero. Two birds, one stone.

They'll do all that sooner than they will tackle the obvious problem. 75% of MI5's caseload is Islamic extremists. No doubt none have been deported. The Manchester Arena bomber, Abedi, was known to authorities before he attacked and he was still free to do what he did.

MaturingCheeseball · 18/12/2025 15:56

Yes, the answer is always to curtail law-abiding people’s freedoms.

Concrete blocks everywhere, and then the cancelling of events “for safety reasons” . At least one Christmas market in Germany did not go ahead this year and Paris NYE in Champs Elysees is cancelled.

I guess naming the problem is judged to be further provocation, but at this rate Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations will have to be in secret.

They are hate filled sick monsters. I'm so glad the police stopped that lot of terrorists. If people stood together for peace and stopped promoting globalise action then maybe these sick terrorists might realise that they don't have support that it seems they do, when listening to the hate filled marchers chanting their support.

Ignoring radical Islam doesn't make it ho away. Get tough in it. Round up supporters and deal with them. Its too late waiting for more attacks and then taking action. Get tough, deport if non citizens and if UK citizens come down hard on them. Hate preachers, online grooming, recruiting to their sick cause, stop it all.

But now people shouting for global bigoted violence will be breaking the law so your point isn’t standing. People cannot be allowed to engage freely in hate speech. They are welcome to say many other things but not a few very specific ones - which include various other terms too. This isn’t curtaining any additional freedoms as hate speech has been illegal for quite a while - it’s just admitting that there are additional phrases that come in that category. There are plenty of other examples of this.

Often, ironically because Islamist terrorists in Muslim countries are executed, and deporting people to countries with the death penalty is not allowed! They know how to deal with these morons.

We need to stop caring about that and caring more about our own safety and citizens.

Our rights matter more than the rights of extremists who want to kill us. Time to stop putting the "rights" of foreign nationals, including second and third generation immigrants who hate us and want us dead above the rights of us.

I don't care at all if they're returned home and dealt with by their own people. Not my circus, not my monkeys. If they don't want that outcome, they shouldn't be extremists who want to kill people.

I’m an immigrant. And Jewish. Lived here in Scotland almost 20 years now and intend to stay permanently. I don’t want to kill anyone though so hopefully that’s still okay.

I am not sure if this was written ironically. Jews are not extremists. The home office statistics on extremists testify to this: terrorists are not Jews, but are overwhelmingly Muslim. We respect the laws of the land, and the country that we live in.

Sorry. Tone is hard to write! I see a lot of these threads veering into immigration and I guess that makes me nervous about that side. Very strange times to be an immigrant Jewish woman!

Same for Sikhs and Hindus.

I agree, and have huge respect for my Sikh and Hindu brothers and sisters. I see a lot of similarity to Jews, with respect for those of other religions, respecting the laws of the land, and charity for the community.

For the folk on here that said "globalise the intifada" probably already fits within UK hate crime law in some contexts, you were correct.

No need to ban it.

Two arrested after shouting 'intifada' slogans, police say | UK News | Sky News

So 5 people arrested at that 'protest'. Good, that's a start.

I haven’t seen this term anywhere. Where is it being used?

Same here. Does it need banning?
