To think that antisemitism now needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way?

The Bondi thread in chat was eye opening.

Forty pages and a lot of it whataboutery, excuses and vile antisemitism.

It’s disgusting.

It needs to be called out. It needs to be rooted out.

I feel so sorry for the Jewish communities everywhere. How can they possibly feel safe?

I don’t think this is a real discussion unfortunately. You appear to be on transmit but not receive.

No I'm disagreeing with you.

I know, but I think automatically.
Your mind is made up. I don’t think you’re receptive to differing opinions on this subject. Apologies if I’ve misunderstood you.

I can understand why there us the view that the war has heightened antisemitism. I just don't believe it myself. 🤷

5 times to accept a 2 state solution but no, rejected every time and always chose war ( thinking Israel wouldn't win) Why not just choose Peace?

Because they still want to destroy the State of Israel. None of this is new, remember that when President Sadat agreed a peace deal with Israel in 1979 he was assassinated soon after by enraged Islamists.

Palestinians, outside of Gaza aren't being targetted are they? Does the hate follow them around?.

Yes, it does.
There has been increased Islamophobia as well as anti-semitism.

Individual appalling cases but not terrorist attacks?

I'm not expanding on your points when this isn't the CITME board. I'm here to offer my support to the biggest persecuted group, in history. God knows they need it.

Exactly this.

It’s just relentless isn’t it? They just don’t stop, ever.

Probably the same posters who on other threads say there should be no ‘but’ after saying “I’m not racist”.

You see, I think the fact that Israel can be considered part of the West, backed by other Western countries, and is a democracy, means that people hold its government to higher standards than they do other countries, which may be dictatorships. So they’re more shocked at what’s happening in Gaza, equally appalled at other events worldwide, but more shocked at Israel’s behaviour. Especially if they haven’t being paying attention politically.
Anti-semitism is (mostly) not the reason for the criticism. Any Western country’s behaviour would be viewed similarly.

It may be a Western-style democracy, but it is surrounded by oil-rich and powerful Middle Eastern countries that want Israel off the map and Jews eradicated, and have never made any secret of these ambitions.

Being "shocked at Israel's behaviour" is not really fair considering Western countries don't face this kind of existential threat.

Any Western country’s behaviour would be viewed similarly
Imagine if hordes of French, with the full backing of other European countries, had swarmed into a UK festival and surrouding villages to torture, rape, mutilate, burn alive, scalp, and take hostages. What would a sensible response be?

I would very much like to see an answer to this question too.

So many people have asked it but none of the apologists ever answer it.

I don't know any Jew (and I'll bet I know far more than you) who has ever stated 'that we are the most persecuted people' nor that '72,000 deaths were necessary collateral'.
What a disgusting comment to post. Shame on you.

I was paraphrasing arguments and oversimplified in the way that the OP had just done to show that this sort of thing can work both ways.

freakyfriday23 · 20/12/2025 14:57

Because the jew haters always appear and attempt to derail with their obvious jew hating comments disguised as gazan concern, why don't ALL posters literally ignore their posts on any jewish related post? If noone responded/ignored they might just fuck off and if they don't?...who really gives a fuck. Seriously, ignore the cunts 😀 i do, always. Have no interest in anything they say even if i may agree with some of it. Their whole vibe would never change any of my views, the views would have to come from a more calm nuanced perspective

I don’t know. I wish I did.

I do know that any response which results in the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent children cannot be considered ‘sensible’ though.

What do you think?

Mostly a two state solution seems to be the best suggestion on offer re the present situation…I know it would be absolutely fraught with difficulty.

Most Palestinians do not want a two state solution.

No. Netanyahu has repeatedly said no to it too so I don’t see it happening anytime soon 😕
It all seems hopeless.

I think the way Hamas operates has deliberately ensured maximum damage to civilians, as part of their strategic goal of establishing global vilification of Israel.

Of course it would be much better to have no innocent Gazan deaths. But again: how would we respond in similar circumstances (which are, let's face it, utterly incomprehensible to us... at least so far, in our current comfortably established position)?

This was not a war fought above ground, against an army in uniform, against an enemy that made every effort to protect its civilians - quite the reverse. It's a miracle that no more than ~3% of the Gazan population was killed.
