To think that antisemitism now needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way?

The Bondi thread in chat was eye opening.

Forty pages and a lot of it whataboutery, excuses and vile antisemitism.

It’s disgusting.

It needs to be called out. It needs to be rooted out.

I feel so sorry for the Jewish communities everywhere. How can they possibly feel safe?

Posters who did that would no doubt be banned.

Yes, you wouldn’t be able to say half of what has been said on here before people would lose their minds and jump up and down while screaming ‘Bigot!’

You've never spoken out against Hamas

At no point in this thread have I said anything about either. Because that's not what this thread is about. And in the past, I have spoken out against actions by both. So kindly, go away. Your posts have been purely anti-semitic so it's safe to say I'm not the problem, you are.

No but they did once compare them to Nelson Mandela.

Resistance and freedom fighters. The only freedom Hamas want involves the annihilation of another race. Anybody on the protests is explicitly or implicitly supporting that. Simple. That goes for many of the apologists and appeasers on here.

I have just read the entirety of this thread and I have never been more disgusted. The antisemitism just shows how bad it is in this country, hidden by the sheep bleating about Gaza.

Agree it’s unbelievable. And 20% of 575 voters think the op is unreasonable. That’s 115 people just in this little corner of mumsnet. Multiply that on a national scale and it’s really eye opening how much racism and hatred Jews are subject to

It’s frightening when you put it like that.

History repeating itself right before our eyes.

And all excused because Israel

thanks for starting this thread though op, I think it’s actually important for people to read it and see the scale of it.

I would like to comment (in my own defence?)

I do not agree with the actions of Israel in Gaza.

I also do not agree with the actions of Hamas.

I do not hold any Jewish (or Palestinian, or Islamic) person accountable, or expect them to denounce Israel. I agree that expecting Jewish people to have to "pick a side" & denounce Israel or face abuse is antisemitic and this needs to be tackled.

However i do think:

  • criticism of Israel is not anti semitic.
  • criticism of Hamas is not anti-islamic.
  • people who openly praise/defend/support Hamas's actions, or Israel's, do appear to be "picking a side" and this can lead to criticism of their view, as many people feel the actions of both have included atrocities. This does not mean those people deserve anti semitic or anti islamic abuse in response - we have freedom of speech.

I have found it frustrating on this thread that those most unreasonable and anti semitic responses have been pounced on and acknowledged, while more balanced views have been ignored.

Okay but the thread asks if it is unreasonable to think that anti semitism needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way - what are your thoughts on that, rather than your thoughts about Israel and Hamas? Because bringing in the latter makes this about something else.

The UK wasn't occupying any country at the time of the Ariana Grande gig. Goodness knows how many terrorist attacks have been foiled since.

You're right those situations are completely comparable silly me that's why they get the exact same reaction hence why is PP saying "what would happen if it were at Glastonbury" Honestly nuance and context just don't apply anymore do they? Feel free to continue to scratch your head at why people with critical thinking can have a nuanced discussion about this 🫠

I have no issue at all with having picked a side and I can’t see what a balanced view would look like given that only one side is comprised of evil, sadistic, depraved, genocidal maniacs.

Again, please someone tell me what would have constituted a proportionate response to the unspeakable atrocities of October 7?

Genericfestiveusername · 17/12/2025 16:21

SisterTeatime · 17/12/2025 13:57

Well said.

People who justify Oct 7 in any way should take a long hard look at themselves.

How is that justifying Oct 7 please by stating that a terrorist attack at Glastonbury is not an identical situation given as far as I'm aware Glastonbury isn't illegally occupying anyone. Comparing it to a similar situation with the same nuance such as the UK's occupation of Ireland too complicated?

Also how dare you insinuate I am justifying anything, if you continue to make stuff up I'll report it as a personal attack 👍🏿 Use your thoughts and your words to make a point instead of reaching for an untruth and twisting words

I mean a simple search would show you there's tons of Islamopgobia on here also. What is you have to say that you're so sure would get you called a bigot? It really reads like you're just sowing more division and putting two groups facing violence and discrimination in this country against eachother.

Not war crimes? Is that so hard? 🫠

I mean it absolutely is unless PP is saying war crimes are a proportionate response which of course they never are (hence the crime but!)
