The Bondi thread in chat was eye opening.

Forty pages and a lot of it whataboutery, excuses and vile antisemitism.

It’s disgusting.

It needs to be called out. It needs to be rooted out.

I feel so sorry for the Jewish communities everywhere. How can they possibly feel safe?

My rabbi went to school with the British Rabbi who died. My brother went to school with one of the hostages who were killed in Israel. I could probably easily find other connections without trying very hard.

My father's synagogue had a mass shooting in 2018 - Tree of Life in Pittsburgh. Every person who died was a friend (well, friendly anyway) of his. The only reason he wasn't there is he forgot his tallit at home and turned around so was a few minutes late. He got there along with the police and saw the aftermath. There is 0 degrees of separation for me in far too many examples of this.

The UN singles out Israel for criticism and resolutions in a way which is not applied to any other country. This is not rightful criticism. Israel is held to a different standard. The UN is blatantly anti Israel and anti semitic.

Well more Israelis protest against their government than Gazans protest against theirs, but wait. You didn't say Israelis did you? You said 'Jewish people'. Another one who hasn't fixed their mask properly. You forgot to dress it up as 'Israelis' or 'Zionists'. Silly you.

For anyone else reading, it's 100% anti-Semitic, not anti Israel, to demand that Jews speak out against Israel. It's pure anti-Semitism. This poster has 'othered' all Jews. I am Jewish but I am also British. I do not need to speak out against anything happening in Israel. I am not responsible. I am not even Israeli. Stop trying to claim that I am.

What if I don't speak out against either? Am I a bad Jew or a good Jew? Do I deserve freedom of speech and thought or only if I prove my worth to you?

Please take your anti Israel and anti Jewish rhetoric elsewhere. This thread is about rampant antisemitism which you are encouraging with your posts about Israel /Gaza. Thankfully the majority of posters can see through you.

Why do Jews have to prove their beliefs about Israel in order not to be a target for racism? And if they don’t do this what - they get murdered on beaches? They get attacked in their synagogues? They get called names when they walk in the street?

Imagine going on a thread about Islamophobia and derailing it as is being done here.
