To think that antisemitism now needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way?

The Bondi thread in chat was eye opening.

Forty pages and a lot of it whataboutery, excuses and vile antisemitism.

It’s disgusting.

It needs to be called out. It needs to be rooted out.

I feel so sorry for the Jewish communities everywhere. How can they possibly feel safe?

So 20% of people on here still think antisemitism doesn’t need to be tackled.

Unbelievable.

The irony of your post mentioning an ‘agenda’!

Where did I mentioned agenda? And I’m quoting what’s further up the comments.
Unhinged comments that no one asks any questions. People and children are being murdered in Gaza but we talk “soviet propaganda” of imaginary levels that people believe the Palestinians and that they shouldn’t be there? You ok, hun?
Palestinian children are still being murdered every day where’s the uproar on that?

You literally say ‘agenda’ in your last sentence.

It’s a large part of why I resigned from my union after over 30 years of membership. Constant calls to boycott Israel. Very little about other countries.

That, and the realisation that the union shows no interest in defending members with GC views. Should have resigned years before.

Let me guess. Irish?

💯 the Bondi thread shows how much anti semitism there is. Sadly, lots of those posters don't appear to realise it or don't care. Yet I imagine they feel they are 'nice, caring people ' they aren't, they are anti semitic.

The excuses for why Jewish people might be attacked were disgusting. Totally unable to separate Gaza and Jewish people around the world. Batshit thinking, but dangerous since it emboldens terrorists.

It is rife and the bondi beach thread was predictable and disgraceful.

I am not Jewish but Christian. What the Jewish communities are going through at the moment is hideous and I cannot get over that is 2025 and look at it?!

What gets me is the flippant attitude of people like they're either not aware/ or they just don't give a shit how wrong it is.

I reported a colleague last month for commenting on a news article he had read to another colleague " fucking jews"
I questioned him about it and he said but Gaza. 🙄
Now imagine it another way.

Me Christian, sat there reading a news article about the Manchester stabbings and saying " fucking muslims"
There would be uproar.

As it happens my work didn't do a thing about him but I suspect if it was reversed there would be hell to pay.

Edited

This. It feels like it is open season on Jewish people. You couldn't (and correctly shouldn't) say that about all Muslims.

Beachtastic · 17/12/2025 09:29

These threads are all going the same way, with 20% amplifying Hamas propaganda and seeing no problem with the violent rise in antisemitism globally and here in the UK. Fuck them, there are always going to be idiots. What we need is for our own government to stop encouraging them. So-called "pro-Palestinian" rallies on the anniversary of 7 October, for example, should be an arrestable offence, not just gently warned against. Anyone shouting about globalising the fucking intifada should be dealt with severely. And so on. I'm not holding my breath...

Shocking how far and wide it’s spread.

Sounds about right though; all the kind people who stand up for the right (in their eyes) causes but have no problem throwing women, girls and Jewish people under the bus.

Israel cannot be excused for genocide, war crimes, murdering and starving children. At any time.

10 year old Matilda in Australia who was killed because she was Jewish has NOTHING to do with Gaza.

I totally agree but unfortunately this government is going to do absolutely nothing to stand up for the Jewish community.

Just a few mealy mouthed speeches here and there which in the grand scheme of things mean f all.

Israel is guilty of war crimes. One day, Israeli people will need to come to terms with this. It will be a painful journey for them.

The people in Australia weren't involved in the conflict in Gaza. The Jewish people in the UK who need security at school, at home at synagogues are nothing to do with Gaza.

Anti semitism is not ok. Jewish people in the UK, the US and Australia should not be afraid.

SoulSearchBeHonest · 17/12/2025 09:37

PurpleThistle7 · 15/12/2025 12:44

do you disagree with the idea that 'globalise the intifada' is inherently problematic?

This is one of my local marches - hordes of masked students rampaging around campus regularly. With the stated and confirmed goal of eradicating israel. They put up signs all across campus to 'globalise the intifada' and 'death to the IDF' and shout that awful river to the sea chant.

Quite. The issue of whether Israel is guilty of war crimes is entirely divorced from the lives of Jews living in Australia or Manchester.
repeating an earlier point, but we don’t see attacks on Russians going about their lives or Russian Orthodox churches outside of Russia.
I wonder why? Hmmm…
Yep it’s that centuries old evil of antisemitism.

This isn't about the Palestinians, it's about an unrelated murder of innocent people celebrating on a beach. Why dont you just admit you're a racist. Don't bother to dress it up because you clearly wear it as a badge of honour. You actually hide your bigotry behind the millions of other bigots who feel proud to hate Jews. You're nothing but bullies feeling emboldened but heaven forbid anyone be so bold to do the same with Muslims. Bloody hypocrites. The lot of you. Cowardly hypocrites.

Where is your uproar on the way Gaza declared war on Israel in the most sadistic way imaginable? Wars usually start for bogus political/economic reasons, but not this one. Wars are usually fought by armies in uniform, not terrorists masquerading as civilians. Wars are usually fought against an enemy that protects its civilian population rather than ensuring maximum damage to them.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/12/2025 09:49

Upstartled · 15/12/2025 11:50

I don't think that explains how we got to the point that large parts of the left gave up on class analysis and adopted anti-semitic standpoints to showcase their legitimacy as a progressive voice. What happened there?

IMO it’s very similar to the trans issue - the fact that the erasure of ‘woman’ from the dictionary was seen by many as what intelligent, right-thinking people - not the thick, unwashed masses - would support.

Have you actually got a suggestion as to how antisemitism should be tackled? Well I've got one, how about antisemites staying off this and similar threads. Clear off with your whataboutery and gaslighting.

PurpleThistle7 · 17/12/2025 09:51

I think I might prefer the honest antisemites to the secret ones. At least I know exactly where I stand with this poster. Hopefully far far away.

My son woke up in the middle of the night to ask me if he was safe. I try not to talk about it too much with the kids but of course they hear stuff at school and probably eavesdropped at a few conversations at the Chanukah party at our synagogue on Sunday where everyone was a bit twitchy. So I hope the pro-hate march crazies are happy that they are making a 9 year old Scottish boy scared to go outside.

Jugendstiel · 17/12/2025 09:54

The only possible answer to your question is Yes. It should be rigorously stopped.

Snowonground · 17/12/2025 09:54

I agree OP. I'm amazed and shocked at how many people are anti-semitic in this country. Even a few people I know that I thought were normal. They seem to feel able to say it out loud now. So many crawling out of the woodwork. Disgusting.
