To think that antisemitism now needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way?

The Bondi thread in chat was eye opening.

Forty pages and a lot of it whataboutery, excuses and vile antisemitism.

It’s disgusting.

It needs to be called out. It needs to be rooted out.

I feel so sorry for the Jewish communities everywhere. How can they possibly feel safe?

The belief that Israel does not deliberately kill civilians, deny human rights, occupy Palestinian land, imprison and totrture without trial, and have many many decades of such actions behind them. That is the collective belief system built on lies that I refer to.

Hahahahaha are you for real? You think antisemitism is just a recent issue?? 😂😂😂😂

Fucking hell, some people.

NC543210 · 16/12/2025 22:59

It is rife and the bondi beach thread was predictable and disgraceful.

I am not Jewish but Christian. What the Jewish communities are going through at the moment is hideous and I cannot get over that is 2025 and look at it?!

What gets me is the flippant attitude of people like they're either not aware/ or they just don't give a shit how wrong it is.

I reported a colleague last month for commenting on a news article he had read to another colleague " fucking jews"
I questioned him about it and he said but Gaza. 🙄
Now imagine it another way.

Me Christian, sat there reading a news article about the Manchester stabbings and saying " fucking muslims"
There would be uproar.

As it happens my work didn't do a thing about him but I suspect if it was reversed there would be hell to pay.

singmoon · 16/12/2025 22:27

And in fact, Israel has killed many more civilians than Hamas.

Not from lack of trying by Hamas

Are you British? Do you have a complicated relationship with your country’s history? People can have any number of feelings about different parts of history without thinking a country should just cease to exist.

As you say, this story neither begins or ends on the 7 October atrocities so we can think about each step that happened along the way. And reflect on how the region (and others) treated Jewish people for centuries. And reflect on the part other countries played in this. Lots to think about, not many options to fix it.

I am not British.

PurpleThistle7 · 16/12/2025 23:02

singmoon · 16/12/2025 23:00

I am not British.

Well it still stands, I just had a list of examples from British history that are problematic. I’m sure your country has plenty to consider in its history too.

The belief that the land is “Palestinian” is the basis of years of soviet inspired propaganda , tell me how the Palestinians view Yasser Arafat an Egyptian one of the greatest Palestinian leaders a- the term Palestinian is quite literally a political tool to erase Jewish ancestry and their indigenous ties to Israel . Unfortunately due to Jew hatred and anti Isreal sentiment they are winning the propaganda war. Your other ‘claims’ are also anti Isreal sentiment and no amount of facts or truth would make you sway - indoctrination at its finest

HappyFace2025 · 16/12/2025 23:11

@singmoon do you know any Israelis? I do. They would laugh in your face at your insistence they 'will one day need to accept' that 'their actions ... are totally indefensible.'

I almost feel bad for starting this thread.

It must be utterly fucking (sorry for swearing) tiresome and soul destroying to be of Jewish descent and seeing the same shite trotted out every time.

Whataboutery, excuses, ignorance and blatant antisemitism .

Fuck me, there’s no hope is there?

No, it is good you did. Keep exposing the darkness! Keep reminding the world that the holocaust was real and still within living memory. Keep reminding the world of the rape, torture and murder of people simply having a fun time on 7 October 23. Keep reminding the world of the massacre of people simply having a fun time on 14 Dec 25. Keep reminding the world of the avowed intent of a certain section of the world is to eradicate completely, Jewish people off the face of the earth. Keep doing it, and exposing the true colours of those supporting the chants we hear, and the masked faces we see at pro ‘palestine’ marches - whilst they still have the right to their ‘freedom of speech’ in supporting a regime that will take away that freedom in the blink of an eye.

Edited

Agreed! Plus, the blindness, wilful or otherwise, of those who do not acknowledge that Hamas use civilians as their human shields. So I would argue that those civilian deaths can be laid squarely at the feet of Hamas. Just leave Israel and the Jewish people alone, to live their lives in peace, and there would be no need for Israel to engage in a war, not of their making, to defend itself.

The belief that Israel does not deliberately kill civilians, deny human rights, occupy Palestinian land, imprison and totrture without trial, and have many many decades of such actions behind them. That is the collective belief system built on lies that I refer to.

From the latest PCPSR (Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research) survey in October:

53% of Palestinians thought Hamas' decision to launch the October 7th attack was the correct one.
39% of Palestinians thought Hamas would emerge victorious in the war.
69% opposed disarming Hamas to permanently end the war in Gaza.

When asked if Hamas had committed the atrocities seen in the videos shown by international media displaying acts or atrocities committed by Hamas members against Israeli civilians, such as killing women and children in their homes, the overwhelming majority, 86% said it did not commit such atrocities, and only 10% said it did.

This is also a collective belief system based on lies. Do you think the Palestinians will one day have to face the truths of the October 7th atrocities, Hamas' strategy of deliberately maximising Palestinian civilian deaths, stealing billions in aid from their own people and violently quashing dissent in order to move forward? As with the Israelis, would you require them to accept that the actions and choices of their government, its military wing and members are totally indefensible?

sickofsixseven · 17/12/2025 02:37

singmoon · 16/12/2025 22:29

Israel is guilty of war crimes. One day, Israeli people will need to come to terms with this. It will be a painful journey for them.

War crimes happen in every war. Not sure why that should be some existential threat that civilian israelis need to "come to terms with" that will be a uniquely "painful journey" in comparison to any other country involved in a war. Can you explain more?

That's how entrenched the protection of Islam is, to the exclusion of every other religion. That's why we have the massive threat now worldwide. Good job many are now pushing back on it while being labelled Islamophobic. Like I said it's OK to call concerned people that name but call them antisemitic and they don't like it. Tough.

Well, it was being referred to as Palestine long before the modern state of Israel was created.

SomethingFun · 17/12/2025 07:53

People know being antisemitic is socially unacceptable but they also are antisemitic in their bones so they come up with justification about why it’s ok to treat Jewish people differently to all other people. Israel could literally turn the other cheek to any and all attacks on its citizens, give every Palestinian in Gaza a million pounds and a massive patch of land and people would still happily argue that the country shouldn’t exist because they don’t think there should be a Jewish state full stop. I’m honestly appalled by posters whose usernames I recognise and their antisemitism that they dress up as ‘criticism of Israel’ because I believe it is perfectly possible to comment negatively on the actions of a country without descending into racism but they seem incapable of it. It always comes out eventually that they believe Jews are collectively responsible for what other Jews do or what Israelis do what with it having the audacity to be a country that actively welcomes Jewish people. The prejudice and ignorance drips from every post.

It makes me ashamed to be on mumsnet to be honest as usually people spouting crap have their arse handed to them, but when they’re spouting crap about Jews loads of people come out of the woodwork to agree with them.

Yes, there’s so many of them.

This is why I’m not sure how this can be dealt with going forward. Nothing seems to make a difference.

When 15 people are killed in a violent attack (including a little girl) and people still can’t keep their trap shut about Gaza, ‘war crimes’ and ‘genocide’ then it does feel like it’s all futile.

Just offer your sympathy and condolences or keep away from the thread ffs.

Don't be ridiculous. You do know that antisemitism predates the Jewish state of Israel by many, many centuries?

Obviously not.

Your level of ignorance is astonishing.
