To think that antisemitism now needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way?

The Bondi thread in chat was eye opening.

Forty pages and a lot of it whataboutery, excuses and vile antisemitism.

It’s disgusting.

It needs to be called out. It needs to be rooted out.

I feel so sorry for the Jewish communities everywhere. How can they possibly feel safe?

Can I gently suggest you also try to seek out some alternative sources of information because your every post is steeped in the language and ideologies of IRI/Qatari/Hamas propaganda.

That's just bollocks actually

PurpleThistle7 · 16/12/2025 22:26

I support Israel and its right to exist. That doesn’t mean that I think every single decision its government makes is one I’d make. I also don’t love every decision the UK government makes but I still think this country should and can exist.

The difference is that even the best placards and chants aren’t ’this decision is terrible’ or ‘we need a new government’ - like the anti Trump marches or the Scotland independence marches or any number of other examples. They’re ’Israel shouldn’t exist and ‘I hope Israel’s entire army dies’. That’s… not normal.

Sadly, it really isn't.

I'm not talking about chanting support for terrorism, I'm talking support for palestine. The two are very different. I don't support or defend killing civilians. Which Hamas has done. And terrorists in many places have done. And Israel has done. All equally indefensible.

Have you changed your mind about the acceptability of marching alongside people chanting support for terrorists?
Those people wave the Palestinian flag when they do it so they’re not entirely different things.

And in fact, Israel has killed many more civilians than Hamas.

You are incorrect. Israel is not guilty of inhumane rights and supporters of Israel are not victims of propaganda nor deeply uncaring about human life. How very dare you? Blatant lies on your part.

Israel is guilty of war crimes. One day, Israeli people will need to come to terms with this. It will be a painful journey for them.

Away with you and your goady little nonsense, antisemitism will never stop because the antisemites don't really give a toss about genocide (imaginary or real), they just hate Jews.

There has been no genocide. If there had been there would be next to no Palestinians left in Gaza. Hamas are totally to blame for the deaths of civilians who they fail to protect in their miles of underground tunnels, or feed having even hoarded baby food leaving mothers and children to suffer!

And don't @ me the discredited UN or Amnesty reports. The Hamas propaganda swallowed by a number of posters on this thread and others is mind-blowing.
Don't kid yourself that antisemitism will stop any time soon. That genie is well and truly out of the bottle; again, evidence of antisemitism can be seen on threads here.

I think it’s worth considering the many, many other examples of horrible things that happen in wartime. Germans bombing London. British bombing Dresden. The atomic bombs. Pearl Harbor. These are all horrible and pointless and sad but also inevitable in war. I personally would love if there was never a war again but that’s logically never going to happen. As long as we have borders and resource scarcity and anger we will have war.

Ah that old nugget ! I don’t recall a spike in ‘ anti palenstinian’ hatred after they committed a genocide , in fact I remember people supporting them for it ?

I completely disagree with this, although I do believe Israel is committing genocide. Antisemitism has roots that long pre date Israel. Like other forms of racism and xenophobia, it is irrational and feeds on myth and fear.

Oh wow I thought this was sarcasm! That is the silliest thing I’ve seen today. A day that I’ve spent far too much time fighting with strangers online.

Genuinely do you think this? Do you think antisemitism sprang out of nowhere as soon as Israel refused to let violent rapists run rampant across their entire country? Do you think things were delightful for Jews 3 or 10 or 50 or 500 years ago? And the Arab nations were welcoming and friendly since the beginning of time?

And Israel will be on the right side of history. The kidnapping, atrocities, butchery, rape and killing on October 7 is carved into the collective memory of every Jew, with the exception of a minority of self haters.

I see tv at you believe this, but it is a collective belief system, which is founded in lies, and which allows the terrible actions of the state to continue. Because the actions of Hamas in October were only one element of a much much longer history. And Israeli actions after this are totally indefensible. That is what Israelis will one day need to accept. It will be a long and very painful journey.

Unbelievable that you are trying to justify what happened on 07 October.

Beyond disgusting.

Are you British? Do you have a complicated relationship with your country’s history? People can have any number of feelings about different parts of history without thinking a country should just cease to exist.

As you say, this story neither begins or ends on the 7 October atrocities so we can think about each step that happened along the way. And reflect on how the region (and others) treated Jewish people for centuries. And reflect on the part other countries played in this. Lots to think about, not many options to fix it.

@Bobloblawww but anti semitism is years old & definitely predates the recent war between Israel & Palestine. Do you think it’s acceptable to shoot down families on the beach in Australia because Netanyahu is at war with Hamas?
