"We're pregnant"

I hate it so much. No he isn't pregnant. Not even a bit. Yes he's going to he a father. He's expecting a baby. His partner is pregnant. How lovely that he's excited about it. What an amazing dad he's sure to be, but he is absolutely not pregnant!

I'm as grumpy as a middle-aged woman can get but this one really pisses me off. Pregnancy is a uniquely female experience. Why the fuck do men need to lay claim to it?

Do they experience morning sickness? Worry about the effects of the pregnancy on their career and earning potential? Be judged by all and sundry if they decide to have a thimbleful of wine or a slice of smoked salmon? Go through the risks and pain of childbirth?

Is it just me? (I expect so!!)

I put this on here a few months ago. It makes me cringe. Apparently it’s so the men don’t feel left out 😂😂😂

This childless old bat absolutely hates this expression!

Why is she a childless old bat?

There’s nothing wrong with it sorry. I’ll be using the term because it’s true. Yes I’ll be carrying the baby and pushing it out but it takes 2 to make one. Both of us are taking the fertility drugs and the relevant scans. He’s also been the one injecting me and dealt with my hormones aswell as his own. Sorry but it’s our baby not just mine.

But he isn’t pregnant. He isn’t growing a child inside his body. You are both expecting a baby but he most certainly is not pregnant!

I agree, it's so cringey and I'm not normally one to get worked up about statements! If you're not having major surgery to have a baby or pushing it out your vagina, you're not pregnant!

Poor lambs. See, I actually find that far more offensive to men, giving them a pretend role in something they cannot do, than acknowledging facts whilst expecting them to step up as equal parents later on.

But same as being a 'little bit pregant' a person is either pregnant or not

Not the same thing. Heavily pregnant is perfectly descriptive of being within a few weeks of giving birth, while a little bit pregnant doesn't exist.

Christ alive, Stupid Craze 1,349 that humans have made up! So do you dangle the baby over the loo or what? And how can you predict when they will urinate? How insane.

Edited

Yes. The ‘communication’ piece is that they try to predict. IRL the poor child spent about 50% of its time over a potty. In baby group.

Kid would be 15 now. I wonder how it’s doing…

I'm guessing that surely some producer out there has created some kind of man boob strap-on nipple bottle that can hold formula/breast milk that he can slip on like a bra, that looks like a pair of boobs, that can be refilled, that he can use to nurse the child. Dear Lord if this has not been created yet, nobody grab my idea and I'll make it myself!!

Oh my god stop!! 😂😂(That said you could try Dragons' Den!)
