Xmas nostalgia has been bad this weekend - why will someone not bring back mignons morceaux, cheese moments, worcester sauce crisps, cream and cheesy niknaks and those massive KP bignuts

It really is not Xmas without them!

I can't find sugared almonds anymore. Where have they gone?

I love sugared almonds, my partner bought me a ton of them from Fortnum and Mason, they are very nice!

Ireallyshouldchangemyusername · 08/12/2025 17:53

Oh and the black packet phileas fogg tortilla chips. Pre general sale of tortillas. Basically caked in hot chilli powder and quite hard if I recall but yeah , core memory unlocked re the mignon morceaux ... You could taste them for hours after !

Waitrose are selling sugared almonds - admittedly in tasteful colours, not pink and white Sad.

And to a pp, I'm pretty sure I saw marzipan fruits in m&s at the weekend.

California corn chips were my favourite Phileas (Phineas?) Fogg.

I suspect it's the cocoa prices, but I've tried to get dark chocolate brazils and also dark chocolate florentines this week and they are very scarce compared to the milk chocolate ones.

I can order them online if I want to spend a fortune, but other years I've just walked in any supermarket and bought them.

We have them in Waitrose, in fact lots of dark chocolate treats, inc brazils, florentines, figs dipped in dark chocolate, also amazing ginger dipped in dark chocolate 😋

SocksAndTheCity · 08/12/2025 17:59

Thanks @Happyjoe and @Redwinedaze - I actually live practically next door to Waitrose and every time I've been in they've had lots of the milk versions but none of the dark! I will keep trying 😀

Cheesy balls at tesco, sell them all year and a huge bag at Christmas... :-)

I don’t think it’s cheesy balls in a bag that @Growlybear83 is after- it’s these ones (photo will load) in the tub- they’re like wafer with a cheese paste inside

Growlybear83 · 08/12/2025 18:04

@BernadinettaYes, it’s the KP cheese footballs I’m after - the ones that are full of the revolting processed cheese gunk, but which are totally addictive and one of the most delicious foods ever invented 😆😆. They remind me so much of my childhood.

whyyousohollyjolly · 08/12/2025 18:05

I miss the Rum and Raisin Muller Corners from the 90s.
I think they were limited edition for Christmas.
I really loved them, but nobody ever remembers them!

JenniferBooth · 08/12/2025 18:12

OhDonuts · 08/12/2025 17:06

I think that’s because people stock up on them when they come in. When I bought mine (1 tin) other people were grabbing them quickly, (I saw one guy get 4!) and when I looked again the shelf was empty!

I wonder how many of them will end up on e bay In the same way the Kevin the Carrott toys do.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 08/12/2025 18:12

@Ponoka7 Terry's have a chocolate orange liqueur this year. Not sure what it's like but I've bought a bottle to try!

No judgement at Christmas 😉

Everything coffee flavoured please. As a 90’s kid, I remember coffee creams in your tin of Roses, coffee flavour Matchmakers and a coffee Vienetta.

You can't get anything coffee flavoured anymore, except coffee.

Thorntons did coffee flavour, but not anymore.

I really miss coffee creams in Roses, that and edible chocolate that doesn't taste a bit soapy.

🍫😞

Gardener82 · 08/12/2025 18:21

It’s only a few years ago
but M&S did a popcorn chocolate wreath that was soooo good.

lookluv · 07/12/2025 23:03

i just want a mignon morceaux

They were delicious, they burnt your mouth with the strong taste of garlic, no idea why they stopped making them 😭

I adore these - they remind me a bit of cheese moments (made by the same company as scampi fries) which are sadly missed

Mignons Morceaux are also sadly missed.

Thorntons liquorice toffee

Brazil Nut Toffee in the Roses Tin

When I'm in charge of the world I will bring them all back.

York Fruits still exist - the ones with the juice centre are called Newberry Fruits. My DGM always lamented their demise - then a few years ago I found them in an old fashioned sweet shop! They still exist @Defiantly41

My Dad always bought Newberry Fruits and Brazil nuts in chocolate for my Mum for Christmas.
She told him (after 20+ yrs of marriage, and eating all of them not sharing and every sugared almond in existance) that she hated them...
He didn't bother with anything after that.
She wasn't an easy person to be around IYSWIM...

JoshLymanSwagger · 08/12/2025 18:28

@Sortalike have a look in B&M for Scampi fries. 🤞

MrsMillyFluff · 08/12/2025 18:30

Anyone remember Death by Chocolate cake? I used to buy one in Kwik Save in the late 80s early 90s. They also did a catering size one when I was training to be a chef in the mid 80s. It was the nicest richest chocolate cake I've ever had, with layers of chocolate mousse, sponge, chocolate sauce, chocolate chocolate......🤤

DanialLand · 08/12/2025 18:32

Holland & Barrett used to do these chocolate covered almonds. They were covered in a truffle like coating and then dusted in cocoa
powder. I think this was mid 90s. They were amazing. They stopped doing them and I’ve never seen them like that since. You can get a normal chocolate dipped almond, but these were in a truffle coating and they were elite

If anyone has managed to find anything similar, please let me know. Thank you

For anyone else who misses mignons morceaux, these are exactly like them:

These are the ones if you manage to grab them, the ginger is very subtle, they are very good! You might like this at Waitrose: https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/no1-dark-chocolate--ginger-florentines/618649-828415-828416

York fruits - jelly sweets with a weird hard capsule of fruity liquid in the middle
jelly orange & lemon slices
Weekend chocolate boxes
Tunis cake and Dundee cake

I saw a Dundee cake in the big M&S this week in er.. Dundee if that helps?

Trumpton · 08/12/2025 18:47

CluelessAboutBiology · 08/12/2025 15:00

The best ones are from Fortnum & Mason. I’m not a regular shopper (I wish!) but I have done detailed research into sugared almonds, and they do the best ones.

I treated myself to some this year! Silver and gold so beautiful and so tasty!

Breathmiller · 08/12/2025 18:58

Hemax1 · 08/12/2025 16:49

Has anyone seen any marzipan fruits? I used to love them eapecially the way they were decorated!

Have seen cheesy nik naks recently and bought a Tunis cake from Tesco a week or so ago ( with marzipan fruits on top ! )

I usually get a box of Marzipan fruits from one of the kids at Christmas. I think they get them at M&S? I love them. And the best bit is no one else does I get them all.
