Xmas nostalgia has been bad this weekend - why will someone not bring back mignons morceaux, cheese moments, worcester sauce crisps, cream and cheesy niknaks and those massive KP bignuts

It really is not Xmas without them!

Lidl for both.

I'm not entirely convinced the M&S big mix tin thing actually exists, our local ones have the peppermint bark and some ungodly concoction involving cold popcorn, but the chocolate selection tins are nowhere to be seen.

I think that’s because people stock up on them when they come in. When I bought mine (1 tin) other people were grabbing them quickly, (I saw one guy get 4!) and when I looked again the shelf was empty!

York fruits - jelly sweets with a weird hard capsule of fruity liquid in the middle
jelly orange & lemon slices
Weekend chocolate boxes
Tunis cake and Dundee cake

You can still get all of these apart from the weekend chocolate box

BrennieGirl · 08/12/2025 17:13

I’ve just opened the box of M&S big mix I had carefully stashed away thanks to this thread!
so far they are delicious and very reminiscent of old style Roses.

Every year I miss the Mingles chocolates!

The after eight selection box has a couple that are similar !

i just want a mignon morceaux

Loved these! The people who owned the company that made Phileas Fogg lived in our village, they sold out at some point in the 90s and I've never eaten the delicious garlicy nuggets since😭

I have been trying to remember what these were called for months! Loved them, but they just disappeared. :-(

blackpear · 08/12/2025 17:30

Oh, the mignons morceaux! But also Phileas Fogg Corn Chips!

I love some of the old school food but, i must admit that i dont recognise any of what you have listed.
Whereabouts do you live in the Country? I'm in London.

Growlybear83 · 08/12/2025 17:32

I’ve been hunting for cheese footballs without success 😞

@Defiantly41 York fruits are on sale in Iceland....
Possibly home bargains too

Ohhh - i used to love these too X

Cherrysoup · 08/12/2025 17:35

Coffee creams and a packet of Sobranie, dad’s standard Christmas present from my aunt, a cigarette to match your dress! Bloody awful fags, actually, but they looked incredibly sophisticated.

Proper Christmas cake. Homemade with thick hard white icing over marzipan.

Romantica frozen gateau
Worcester sauce Twiglets (or even Twiglets as they used to be)

Yes! Bloody twiglets! They used to be the best thing ever and now they’re disappointing flavourless sticks of misery. It’s an absolute national disgrace and I don’t know why people are not rioting.

These haven’t gone away, can get them at Tesco etc

I liked those chocolate liqueurs that were bottle shaped. The liquid would kind of crystallise near the top. Mmmmm! Also those lovely shiny wrappers on the strawberry creams in the tin…

Does anyone remember getting Toffos in their selection box stocking thing? Lovely fruity toffees. That whole stocking, actually. It had a Marathon, Mars (?), Toffos, Opal Fruits… am I remembering correctly?

I still miss Toffo's now, it was the banana one - perfection!

Thank you! I’ve not seen them in my local sainsburys or Tesco so I’ll try a bigger branch.

I suspect it's the cocoa prices, but I've tried to get dark chocolate brazils and also dark chocolate florentines this week and they are very scarce compared to the milk chocolate ones.

I can order them online if I want to spend a fortune, but other years I've just walked in any supermarket and bought them.

Weirdly, saw dark choc brazils at a service station Waitrose yesterday. If have a Waitrose nearby?

Cheesy balls at tesco, sell them all year and a huge bag at Christmas... :-)
