I've seen these threads before and thought how on earth did you not know! How big must your house be to have a secret room.
Our house is not massive, 4 bed, normal size not really old or anything.
But there's a super creepy room. Hidden at the back of the loft, It's got carpet, wall paper and even spot lights! And a director's chair... just sitting in the middle of it! It's weird.

Some of these responses are brilliant 😂
We are semi-detached, there is no window, I don't know what that green frame is.
I won't have time to look up there as we are out all day. I'll have to do it tomorrow because I don't want to look up there at night time 🙈.
I will take pictures. It doesn't have a door to get into it, it's just at the back with a low wall to climb over/ step over to get in.
I didn't see it when I looked up there, it was only when the sky engineer had to go in there probably he mentioned it.
It has sockets and stuff. It's just creepy. We didn't look in the loft when viewed the house. Like I said no windows up there from the outside but I'm very intrigued what the green frame is too!

Doesn’t sound like it was hidden. Just sounds like you didn’t notice it.

Thanks! Also see here @Feduptosaytheleast🙂

Oo thank you!

Have you got a dog or a cat @Ohwhatswrong
get them up there and see if they start growling etc.

If they do then your only recourse is to move immediately

Badslipperluck · 07/12/2025 09:29

You need a blacklight

Mumwithbaggage · 07/12/2025 09:33

The room Matt Hancock used for interviews in lockdown?

YourAmplePlumPoster · 07/12/2025 09:34

Do you know who the former owners are? Have you spoken
To them?

GottaBeStrong · 07/12/2025 09:35

I don't like it. 😬 It has bad vibes. Perhaps they used it as an extreme version of the 'naughty step'.

RememberBeKindWithKaren · 07/12/2025 09:38

What were the previous owners like ? As in a couple, any kids ? Not that this info can say much but you wouldn't think a seemingly happy family would be involved in anything sinister.. A simplification probably..But the deco. In there doesn't seem too dated so presumably it was set up be previous owners and not two 'generations" ago.

Keep us updated please Op..

Edit - possible hobby room for someone into filming ? Just wanting to get away from the rest of the family for peace and quiet? .

WackyRacers · 07/12/2025 09:40

Place marking

FableLies · 07/12/2025 09:46

Old houses have low walls separating their attics. Are you sure it's yours?

NovaF · 07/12/2025 09:46

Some horrific shit got filmed up there.

Wibble128 · 07/12/2025 09:50

Measure the width of loft space including the room and compare it with the width downstairs?

NovaF · 07/12/2025 09:51

I would also be googling the previous owners, this is so disturbing!

LifeExperiencer · 07/12/2025 09:52

I haven't read the full thread - so apologies if this book suggestion has already been made .... I recently bought Strange Houses by Uketsu for a friend for his birthday. He enjoyed it but found it so disturbing he said he had to sleep with the lights on 😂. Doesn't sound like my kind of bed time reading so I won't be borrowing it off him but some of you may like it if you're into horror/ terror involving secret rooms.

It's covering a hatch into a miniature version of the secret room...

Which has a hatch into an even smaller version. It's creepy secret rooms all the way down...

MamaBobo · 07/12/2025 10:00

As someone who has done Mastermind I categorically state that there is no way I would have wanted to prepare for it in that room. The wallpaper would have been a serious distraction.

That said I’m in the more prosaic camp that think hobby room, model railway, some sort of craft rather than anything sinister. The green frame might be a hatch that gives access to the space under the eaves outside the boarded area.

Looking forward to hearing more about this though!

I have dreams where I find an extra room in the house. But it’s usually less creepy than this.

Same.

mjf981 · 07/12/2025 10:04

That is proper creepy. It's the chair. Who say there? And why?😧

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 07/12/2025 10:05

On the right there is a green rectangle in the picture, is that another hidden door? Does that lead anywhere?

Wowcha · 07/12/2025 10:05

This is so cool!!

I have always wanted to find a secret room!

I know it’s not life changing but it’s still cool that you have more room than you thought.

One of my recurrent dreams is finding a secret room in a new place - attic, extension, cellar ...

Mine too! I find fabulous bathrooms usually.

ichifanny · 07/12/2025 10:10

who lived there before ? Lone creepy man ? Then the fact there is a hidden room is terrifying . Family with kids maybe more innocent .

What is the triangle shaped bit of wallpaper covering in the corner here. And what is the green frame on the tilted wall surrounding, a window ?
I moved into a rented flat years ago, it was massive and there was a locked door in the hallway that nobody could open/get into. My husband finally did and it was filled full of dead cannabis plants.

It looks like the was a ladder from a room below, there is a light switch right by it. My guess is it was an extra den area for a kids bedroom, that was the access, but it was boarded up. What room is directly below?
I viewed a top floor flat with a similar, very 80's set up!

CandyCaneKisses · 07/12/2025 10:14

I don’t think it’s spooky. Lots of houses used to board off areas to keep other spaces warmer as there’s less dead space.
