To think it is not at all sad that the Women's Institute is now only for actual women?

“Incredibly sadly, we will have to restrict our membership on the basis of biological sex from April next year,” Green said. “But the message we really want to get across is that it remains our firm belief that transgender women are women, and that doesn’t change.”

Tellingly - they still think women can have a penis.

Women’s Institute will no longer accept trans women as members from April

The wording of the back down is woeful.

But at least it's a back down

It's just extraordinary that it went this deep and this far.

This group think madness Orwellian madness just shows how weak we all really are and specifically to mind bending.

People raised in this have no chance have they with the brain washing.

I read on here a post that REALLY resonated with me
Its not womens spaces TW want access to its the women in them - so a toilet labelled "Ladies" that only TW used would not be of interest to them
They need us as window dressing

And yet they seem to loathe women. It is a bizarre situation, men want to dress as women, access women only areas but seem to hate the women in there.

Boiledbeetle · 03/12/2025 20:51

Gloriia · 03/12/2025 18:49

Yes I dont get this. We see whines of 'they don't want trans to exist!! 'all over the internet, when in fact we don't care how men present themselves just not in women's areas.

Why can't they see single sex spaces mean that and they should channel their fury and energy into making their own 'trans institutes' or similar.

Because there's no validation and euphoria to be had in accessing spaces that are mixed sex.

It's not true of all TIM, but in many cases, they resent what they see as women's sexual power and transgenderism is their attempt to "dethrone" us (I've seen abusive messages shared by GC women that use this word) and take that power for themselves. Since they think woman is something you perform, they think they'll perform it better.

Here’s a bunch of men thinking that they’re womaning better than … women.

It's funny that no-one will actually answer the question though. Are you happy for a trans man to turn up? Really really really happy? It has to work both ways.

yes, i am happy for women to turn up.

And, the SC ruling also mentioned that transmen who have so altered their appearance that they actually appear really, truly and honestly to be men - that they could be excluded if their presence causes discomfort or fear to the women present.

Now your turn: Why are you so keen for women to have to put up with men in their spaces when they don't want them? You can give away your rights. But you can keep your sweaty mitts off my rights.

Feminists (Julie Bindel, for example) are now admitting that campaigns that forced gentlemens' clubs and golf clubs to admit women were probably misconceived. The success of those campaigns has certainly made arguments for women only organisations a lot harder.

yes and no. There was no reason for, say, golf clubs to be the preserve of men. Especially given how many business deals go on at the 19th hole.

Men's sheds? no, they are vital for men, we want men to talk, and they need a space to do that.

Gentlemen's clubs? same as golf - if decisions are being made by politicians etc in men's spaces? that is not acceptable

Brefugee · 03/12/2025 22:43

Hons123 · 03/12/2025 15:00

Yes, you have been TALKING and he did it, see the difference? A whole lot of fat your talking did in the UK, the poor Posie Parker lived in fear and was harassed, despite all our talking (don't get me wrong, I was talking too, but the effect of it?)

fuck me - am i the sodding president of the USA?

use better arguments if you want anyone to take your words seriously.

Don’t forget that some golf clubs that deigned to admit women put restrictions on tee times - reserving weekend times for men for instance. It was assumed the women could play during the week as they wouldn’t have jobs.

Brefugee · 03/12/2025 23:12

i am from the vintage of women soldiers who were sometimes told to leave the bar of our own mess...

GarlicRound · 03/12/2025 23:25

@PacificState, at the moment in FWR, there's an interesting thread started by a Muslim woman in the UK. She describes the intense pressures on young women, who, from puberty, are prevented from doing anything that might lead to social contact with men. The OP wasn't allowed to attend work socials, for instance. Family members spied on her.

Do you not think that women living such confined lives might welcome opportunities to mix more widely and share ideas? What do you make of an inclusivity that actually excludes many women most in need of such opportunities?

LeftieRightsHoarder · 04/12/2025 00:30

ThatCyanCat · 03/12/2025 20:35

I hate it because whenever I see it, I know it will exclude me and many other people.

Exactly! Including men in women's spaces means excluding all those women who need single-sex services. I'm sure 'inclusive' used to mean accessible to people whose lives are restricted in some way, eg by disabilities or trauma or poverty or caring duties. Not letting men have women's spaces as well as their own.

How would allowing men into a women's single-sex organisation give confined women more opportunities? If their families won't let them join a mixed-sex group, they would simply be ordered to leave the formerly-single-sex group too. A big organisation like WI can provide many 'opportunities to mix more widely and share ideas'. Just not with men.

And no, I don't like the way the Muslim women on the other thread are being treated by their families. But letting men, whether trans-identifying or not, into women's spaces will do nothing to improve their lives. It is irrelevant to their problems.

GarlicRound · 04/12/2025 05:28

@LeftieRightsHoarder, you have misunderstood me. Allowing men into 'inclusive' women's spaces means many women will be excluded from them.

That’s ridiculous. A few anti trans bullies don’t speak for the whole of MN. There is nothing to celebrate and many think it’s a sad day. Feel so sorry for those elderly trans members battling a double whammy of loneliness and exclusion now barred from attending. They’re doing no harm by attending and many will miss friends now barred from attending .The WI being forced to do this is so petty and nasty and the glee from a few on here is revolting. Just shows the mindset of a few. Feel sorry for WI they’re between a rock and a hard place.

They could join Andy’s men shed….

TeeBee · 04/12/2025 05:51

I’m really pleased it has been passed back to women. However I am concerned that THE WOMEB’s INSTITUTE have said they recognise transgender women as women. What an absolute let down.

Namelessnelly · 04/12/2025 05:51

LadyFreja · 03/12/2025 17:42

No, cruel is not just a buzzword that means supporting women and children, and you can't just turn it in to that to make yourself feel better.

It means someone who relishes and gets enjoyment out of deliberately using language they know will hurt others, and clearly having fun while doing it. You are proud of that behaviour so just own it.

So when TRA shout “kill all TERFS” and threaten women with rape and violence, you admit they’re being cruel? So why aren’t you on TRA forums scolding them for their language? Or is it just women who have to use nice words and be kind?

FuckRealityBringMeABook · 04/12/2025 06:29

FloralHighNotes · 03/12/2025 18:47

But of course really this will only impact those whose trans identity is known.

Which is all of them, because human beings know whether a person is male or female within seconds (or less) of meeting them.

Even the ones who supposedly "pass" don't "pass" most of the time and the older they get, the less they "pass" and the more ridiculous they look. There is a good reason why (not that long ago) men used to dress in women's clothing for comic effect.

Only the trans "women" themselves believe they fool anyone. Even the people who pretend to believe "trans women are women" know the difference between a real woman and a bloke in a frock.

The Crying Game would have been a bit shit if that were true

That was a film, in 2D, with all the assistance of lighting, make-up and camera angles.

Not real life in 3D with none of those artificial props.

FuckRealityBringMeABook · 04/12/2025 06:56

I thought clocking trans people within milliseconds was supposed to be an atavistic survival instinct, whatever the conditions
