Road rage driver called me fat

Ouchthatcutdeep · 01/12/2025 10:17

Had been Christmas shopping yesterday, driving home and traffic lights turned amber as I was literally driving through them.

At the next set of lights some angry man got out his car shouting at me I went through a red light (I certainly didn't as I have the dash cam footage) He was so angry, and yet I hadn't affected him in any way shape or form.

I told him to get a life and he called me a fat bitch. Then got back in his car screaming insults as he went.

I am still shaken but his words have really upset me. I feel down today and embarrassed. I didn't even think I was fat, so why would he say that to me?

You need to get over this lol its just an insult
You need to think of one to reflexively call the next angry road rage driver back! Twat, impotent, ugly cunt etc!
It's nothing to do with you it's just anger. Next time don't bother winding your window down, just smile and middle finger him as you drive off. They hate it

IcyPuddles · 01/12/2025 10:40

That sounds like a distressing incident but I’m not sure I’d give a shit what a total
fucknut like this thinks.

LardoBurrows · 01/12/2025 10:40

It's the go-to insult for angry little men of very, very low intelligence, it doesn't matter what weight you actually are. Think misogynistic, knuckle-dragging Neanderthals with tiny dicks, no imagination and angry that women got the vote and are allowed to drive their own cars - and you get the picture. And yes - no life of his own.

You could have called him an impotent twat with a small dick - but he probably would not have understood a long word like impotent.

Tcateh · 01/12/2025 10:40

I once had an annoyed bloke customer insult me in a cafe, saying ' who would want to sleep with you anyway '
Size 14, nice enough looking.

I did get upset but it's the shock of it more that gets you.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/12/2025 10:40

Not exactly practical advice, I know, but a friend who was screamed at through the window by some red-faced, road-rage arse of a man, happened to have in the back of her estate car, her 11 stone Newfoundland dog!*

Roused from slumber, he sat up and uttered his best, massive baritone woof!

She hardly saw the bloke for dust!
*he was called Hero, RIP 🐶❤️

MsVestibule · 01/12/2025 10:42

Seriously, please don't give it another thought. Literally nobody (unless you're trying to be a fashion model) thinks size 14 is fat. My friend (similar size to you) was called a 'fat c**t' in a road rage incident - it's literally the only insult these fuckwits can think of.

BeNoisyFish · 01/12/2025 10:43

It's a standard insult that men and boys dish out to women even if you're slim. I bet you he'd be pestering you for a date if you'd met on a dating app. It's him not you.

TanitaTikTokaram · 01/12/2025 10:46

Road rage is an illogical response so I wouldn’t take anything said to heart. It’s scary I know but not all men are the same behind the wheel. My friend and his brother share a car and are both completely different. His brother gets road rage and will drive up people’s backsides trying to intimidate them if they make a mistake, whereas my friend is the polar opposite and the most calm considerate driver I know and never gets road rage even when other people carve him up and do dangerous things. He just doesn’t see the point in getting wound up. I knew another person years ago who was such an aggressive driver. As a passenger I asked him several times to hold back and stop driving right up people’s arses because it made me feel uncomfortable.

PauliesWalnuts · 01/12/2025 10:47

As a middle-aged commuting cyclist it's unfortunately par for the course for me - I get fat c* several times a year. The last time was a guy I overtook who was stopped at a set of temp traffic lights and I filtered to the front. Ironically he was about 20 stone and his female companion in the passenger seat was about the same. It's horrible (I usually have a cry when I get home) but apart from that you just have to shrug it off.

starrynight009 · 01/12/2025 10:49

He was just saying that as he knows it's something that would upset any woman and he clearly has an issue with women. Unfortunately some men shouldn't really be allowed to interact with the general public.

I had a driver right up behind me on a bendy country lane getting aggressive as he couldn't speed past me at 70mph, or whatever he was trying to do. He angrily called me a f-ing bitch when he went past...just because I was driving at a decent but safe speed. Oh I had my little girl in the car with me at the time. It shook me up too but then there's no-way people who are that angry and behave that horribly to other people have happy, fulfilled lives. Once I realised he was just projecting his misrable life onto innocent people, I mentally let it go.

Greyhound98 · 01/12/2025 10:50

He sounds like a very angry inadequate little man. Hopefully he will have a heart attack on his next tantrum and everyone ignores him.

GlassofRosePorfavor · 01/12/2025 10:52

My sil called me a fat bitch once and honestly I'd of rather she called me a pathetic little cunt instead 😂

CautiousLurker2 · 01/12/2025 10:53

If you got him ranting and his car on your dash cam at all, I’d be sending it to the police and filing a report. He wouldn’t have done that, or said it, had you been a big, burly bloke.

And ignore the insult, he probably would have called the next woman ‘ugly’ or ‘thick’. They are the go-to of adolescents, which is how he was behaving. You are clearly shaken and second guessing yourself, even though your footage shows you did nothing wrong… that was his intention. Bastard.

OldieButBaddie · 01/12/2025 10:55

Yeah don't worry about it, these inadequates are just trying to push your buttons, just ignore! I was behind a psycho one day on my bike, two men on their bikes were riding 2 abreast (as they should!) and he overtook them and slammed on his brakes so they went into the back of him. I wanted nothing to do with the situation so cycled past and he was bogging me out, I looked at him and he yelled WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT YOU LESBIAN and I just burst out laughing which made him really really angry so I cycled off as fast as I could.

I do find in these situations it helps to laugh at them, or if you really want to wind them up say "alright love keep your knickers on" that is guaranteed to piss them off and belittle them.

FiveShelties · 01/12/2025 10:21

It would be the first insult he thought of. I think 'fat bitch' is the go to insult when men shout at women.

I would not give him another thought.

Exactly this, usually said by men who have a huge beer belly.

Thing is I guess I could do with losing some weight, I'm a size 14 and after having babies I'm definitely not as slim as I used to be. Now he's made me think everyone sees me this way.

That’s a leap @Ouchthatcutdeep some tiny dicked man says the first thing that comes into his equally tiny brain and now everyone else sees you as fat? No one can “make” you think a certain way and you have some choice about how you respond to this incident. The reality is that nobody else really thinks or cares about your body size including this man. Most people are far too busy thinking about themselves. He’s just saying the first thing he can think of and his behaviour says much more about him than you and it certainly doesn’t tell you anything about everyone else’s thinking!

It's just an expression used by angry men..Dont take it personally.. He probably drives around foaming at the mouth just looking for women to pick on. Dont worry. He's so angry, he'll probably have exploded or spontaneously combusted by Christmas anyway.

Well, I agree with pps who've said it's just a stock insult, but even if you were the size of a house it doesn't give him the right to make personal insults OP. And I wouldn't take it to mean you are fat either (14's definitely not fat in my book), it's a standard misogynistic slur. Try not to let this mar your day, people like that aren't worth the headspace.

Bromptotoo · 01/12/2025 11:01

It's an offence to cross an amber light but there are defences around it being dangerous to stop. If the light changed as you crossed the line then that would be made out.

The ones to watch out for are the drivers who ignore amber and go through on red. Some lights have enough margin to stop that creating a danger but at least some round here do not. As soon as one limb of the junction is at stop the other goes to red/amber. Seen loads of near misses there.

Medicimama · 01/12/2025 11:04

Whenever I encounter an aggressive little twat of a male driver, I involuntarily wave my little pinky at them. Yes, even in front of the DC. I’m not proud but it’s just what we fat bitches do. Hopefully it causes them to choke on their bile and pull over and have a stroke somewhere.

And they might do 🤷‍♂️

If you want to lose weight then you do it for you.

If you don't, or you want to put it off for another time, you do that for you too.

But what you shouldn't do, is take any notice whatsoever of a go-to insult that's bandied about everywhere.

It's ridiculous.

KimuraTan · 01/12/2025 11:07

Have you got his reg plate and possibly video footage of the incident? Sounds like that wasn’t his first rodeo and I’d report him for it.

as others said please don’t let it get to you. Calling people fat is one of the laziest insults out there. He’s clearly a misogynistic pig to have added “bitch” to it as well. It’s got nothing to do with your weight.

iSage · 01/12/2025 11:08

It's an angry man thing. Years ago, in my 20s, I got called a 'fat old cow' ... by a customer on the phone at work, who had no idea what I looked like or what my age was 🙄

quantumbutterfly · 01/12/2025 11:10

Because as women we are conditioned that our value and survival relies on us being pleasing, especially to men, depending on the culture you're in/opportunities available to you.
This is so deeply ingrained that we rarely notice it, but once you do there is a wtf moment and you choose your path from that point on.

He was an inadequate arsehole exploiting that power imbalance and would have thought a bit harder before confronting another man.

IsawwhatIsaw · 01/12/2025 11:13

These are pathetic little men, but I get it’s upsetting to be called these names.
i go away and feel sorry for anyone who has to have more dealings with them
